The difference is that Taemin had already gained fame and respect due to SHINee, he was already beloved by people and had a huge fanbase. When you have all that you can get away with that stuff. With A.C.E their fanbase was small (and mostly international) so when they debuted with those shorts, showing off really muscular legs which is the opposite of the standard 'boyish' look expected from new groups, they were simply assumed to be "attention seeking" via being "inappropriate". Those were though times but I'm glad they survived that period and are now finally starting to get some recognition.

I think they'll have to introduce it again as a trademark once they've successfully taken off. I love the short shorts, personally, but if their audience decides to be touchy about it and it hinders their success and causes the number opportunities to dwindle, it might be for the best. It'd be absolutely tragic if they weren't a successful group because they're all SO talented it's crazy.

Another thing that pissed me off is did they have to bring up the “hot pants”. They said it in a negative connotation. Like get over it, their shorts. To be honest their song choice for their first performance was kinda lack luster. It didn’t fully show and highlight their best attributes. They have a lot of potential and skill so a different song would have been better to showcase their talent.
@@notusingthisemail7989 I think the song choice and choreo is fine (it looked bomb when Jun performed it with Lia Kim on 1 Million's channel) but the overly joyful "mood" + trying to sing it live didn't really mesh well. Gashina, of course, was very well executed.

It’s funny how they got so much hate because of the hot pants and now when an idol wears something like hot pants or crop tops people go insane and say it’s great... but in reality A.C.E were the first male group to wear hot pants and crop tops and they did a great job. It's really frustrating even after five years like how much they got so much hate because of it.

Yes, really love their strategy. 5 of them have never been in the same team. They always become ACE in each of their teamss. And all of them have been leaders, main vocal, main dancer, choreograper, also center. At the end In Mixnine 3 of them decided to join the same group together.

Jinwoo from Winner said that even after debut, things will get harder and harder. After debut is the real challenge for idols. Consider Jinwoo came from YG, a big 3 company, said that. It must be very hard too for A.C.E and other groups from small companies. But you can clearly see how smart the members & their agency to promote them in several survival shows. Thank you Beat for not giving up on these boys. 2019, they released the 3rd mini album. Under Cover is amazing and I learn to know A.C.E from this era. The live stage is great. I'm beyond happy to see them now after those hard works. A.C.E fighting and please keep growing even after your enlistment!!!

They have the looks even with no make up, they possess good vocals to sing and energy to perform their dance routine. They are also hard working and full of positive energy. They only need a good management to handle their careers and whoever handle or manages this group will not regret coz they are like a polished gems. They have potentials. Pls listen to the songs they covered like " Someone you loved " by Lewis Capaldi and I think " All of me " by John Legend. Give them a chance.👍🤗
When you think that three A.C.E members who joined Mixnine are really talented. And then you see the other two members here in the Unit who are also really talented. Like omg. Everyone is really talented! Not even one bad apple in the group. Officially stanning this group!

@@wonnienim8049 nice song does not mean to be booming though. Booming song means ear catching, that you wont easily skip when it starts to play, and wont easily forget when it ends. Even if you dont know the lyrics. I remember this segmen in some shows about the big 3 ceos commenting to their idol- self producers song demos. They were quite picky and hard filtering to those tone beats.
Been following these boys since their debut and I’m so happy they're finally receiving some recognition - these two on The Unit and the others on MIXNINE, especially dancing machine Jason! They deserve all the success and attention, their choreographies are insane! Oh, and I pray their wear hot pants again in the future!❤️ OH AND JUN MARRY ME

David Dacus Nah, it's just because The Unit is a sham. It's supposed to be about Idols who've already debuted, yet they passed a fucking trainee. Jesus.
But the thing is, they sang well, danced well and had an amazing aura. I felt like Taemin and Hyuna's criticism was too harsh. They gave boots to almost all of the Good Day members even though they were arguably less talented. I think they were a bit irked by the "hot pants" thing. I feel like they weren't pleased with it because they built up their popularity and respect for a long time before wearing such revealing clothing. Perhaps they thought that A.C.E was just fanservice. However, as a Choice, I believe that they are so much more... THEY DESERVE THE WORLD, PLS SUPPORT THEM.
I personally don't mind the shorts, shows off a bit of leg, shows how hard they've worked, and gives the fans a little bit of a treat. I say it's a win-win situation
In this show, you would realize that there's a bunch or tons of kpop groups that we're still struggling bc of how small their company is. It's just so sad bc they were all talented and have a huge potential. So thank you for this show , for giving them opportunity to showcase their talents and skills.

My heart would breaks every time i think of these nameless rookies who people sleep on. i learn the hard way with speed, myname, nuest (thankfully now they succeed), etc. I try not to set myself on that spot again, I wish good luck to A.C.E

I am late but yeah I got shivers from this. They have perfect harmony and sometimes tension when they dance together. It fits really well and it is exciting to watch them~ Both are amazing dancers.
It's August 18, 2021, just a little less than 4 years since this was uploaded. Old and new fans will still be watching this in the next 4 years, and more and more. A.C.E will just keep going higher. I'm proud of them.

But like..... Why would the hot pants detract from their attention??? That's what confuses me, especially when a lot of K-pop artists use fan service as a means of appealing to their audiences. I can't understand why the judges seemed to be looking down on them the whole time. That was a face I've never seen on Taemin before. But I fell in love with ACE because I loved the song and dance to Cactus, the hot pants were an added bonus I only found out later. I seriously can't understand why these boys aren't more popular, they're wonderful people and have worked so hard, they deserve the world and I hope they get more recognition than they have been.

Well just at any time that he's on screen, I see a face of intense disapproval... I mean, that's my interpretation, and I really love Taemin, I wouldn't have ever thought that he would look that way reacting to a performance. I watched some other clips from this show and Taemin never seems to really pull any other faces similar, so I thought that he just really disliked their performance for some weird reason. Like sure, it wasn't to your taste, but idk. Just throwing random opinions out there that don't make sense is what the internet is for lmao.
JNHMTC317 weird now that I look back, him and hyunA have like this very “eh I don’t like it” face, even those two girls in the audience looked at them with disgust. I honestly felt sad and teary because jun and Chan are suppppper sweet and talented that people tend to judge on their clothes or performance but never truly acknowledge their dedication and hardwork.
Donttouch Myhair This was all speculation on my part, so don’t take anything I say as full truth, but yeah, all the judges seemed put off at the hot pants comment and I can’t say for sure that affected their reactions the rest of the video, but they all are obviously put off by it. I’m sure they’re all great judges and knew what they were talking about, but there’s that small part of me that thinks maybe they were a bit biased in not voting for them. However, I can also see the other perspective that the maroon 5 song wasn’t their greatest choice, so nothing can be for sure.
I did felt that they judged them because of the hot pants. But gladly it didn’t seem to affect their opinion on their audition. Because truthfully the maroon 5 one was ok. Wasn’t anything special. But taemin asked for another dance thankfully, and it showed their skills, dance wise, very well
They're doing their best and the result is great so far. And I know for sure they will be greater than this and greatest after

Oh gosh my heart I've been supporting these boys since they used to upload dance covers and go busking, seeing all the member show their talents and receiving recognition on both shows makes me so happy. I hope they gain a lot more fans because they really do deserve it!!

tbh I'm kinda over with the hotpants thing, (I actually liked it, and I commend them for their courage esp in a conservative society like SK) plus some publicity is better than none I guess What I'm not ok with, is ppl sleeping on these talented kids! I hope at least after seeing intl support, kbs can highlight them more in future eps and give them good screentime + bg stories A.C.E members are all triple threats in terms of talent, with good visuals + Stan attractors and I love em so much, I just hope they rise after this show🙏

Actually, they're doing pretty well ^_^ if you watch more recent episodes, they're about to go through eliminations. Both mixnine and the unit. They even get plenty of screen time and are really hard working and have so far passed their missions so far. A.C.E fighting!

I know right?! I can't believe they still making the 'hot pants issue' a problem and talking about it like it's so important. I can't believe people made this a problem, first of all, but I kind of understand bcs of the society we live in.
I feel like their story to fame might be similar to BTS; Bts is full of talent and they're from a small company as well, yet they rose to top after a long, arduous journey. A.c.e is amazing as well but hopefully they'll have less struggles than Bts. :)

Aro Brillia, As far as we know (Choice, correct me, if I'm wrong), only one member (Wow) is interested in producing music (on YT channel they have some very confusing short clips with bgm produced by him). But some of them can play instruments, so we'll see how it goes in the future. They only have two songs for now, so it's kinda early to say anything about writing their own, imo. The members are actively involved in creating choreography tho, so I don't think it'd be a problem with a music as well. Beat Interactive is quite a nice company

Who else cried a little at the beginning. If you judge them just by their debut clothes, what's wrong with you. Listen to their singing and realize how much they put in to it. Look at their dancing, you can see how much time and energy they put into their dance. Not to mention the dedication they have. Sleep on beds not on A.C.E Not to mention their English is amazing!
I suffer so much watching how stressful is for both waiting judges avaliation. I want ACE to receive deseved recognition the same way NUEST did. PS I loved Cactus song, singing skills, dance and muscular tighs in shorts.
Jun caught my attention with his monster solo cam, that's how I came back looking for his audition. Didn't know he was the one that danced to Gashina (which I loved). I loved them. Looked for their songs and LOVED THEM. Found out they had another three members in mixnine so I started watching it too. Now, my bias is Jason, but Chan gets me and OMG JUN!!! Yeah, we can say I love them
