  • Thanks for the detailed comparison but shouldn’t sound quality score be weighted more since they are speakers first 😀

    @Midlife40s@Midlife40s Жыл бұрын
    • No... because people do drop them and into bad places, What good is a speaker that only plays for 20 min, and finally If they take a month of sundays to charge and are hard to use? WHAT GOOD ARE THEY? None :) Into the bin with them. I think some of them are ugly and resemble suppositories but for 99% of the people out there buying a speaker, this is good enough.

    • Yes. That’s why I purchased the Bose Soundlink Flex. 12 hours of battery life, water sealed and you can run it over with a car and it’ll still work. And most importantly, sound is second to none.

    • I’m thinking about the flex, but the revolve I have has terrible battery. I use it sparingly, but when I do it’s always almost dead. So the idle battery is my biggest issue.

      @Tiggaknock@Tiggaknock Жыл бұрын
    • @@Tiggaknock - I am sure the flex is the best choice out there because of battery life, the USB C charging, and it works as a full duplex speakerphone which is invaluable to me with a laptop and my phone or tablet I can set up a conference call with colleagues or clients and the quality on Skype, WhatsApp, or phone call is stupendous. We don't use the china spy app zoom for teleconference... Not secure especially for financial, proprietary IP, gov't, or medical.

  • bought the Flip 6 today gotta say: the Hype is REAL..... i am VERY happy with it! what a great speaker. the bass is superv for it's size, it also has a great bass response at low playing volumes (something that is important to me) the high/mids are precise and crisp thanks to the 20w driver / 10w tweeter separation adding in the insane durability, sleek comfy design, a fair retail price.... simply an amazing portable speaker.

  • I went with the Bose Flex according to your reviews and I'm very happy to done so. Normally I like to tweak the EQ setting to get the best results but with this speaker it sounds amazing straight out of the box. I like electronic music, Pop music etc. of which I prioritize bass over everything else, and this speaker delivers me exactly those punchy basses. Given it's relatively small size it kicks very powerful. I highly highly recommend it.

    • The Flex has 3 preset EQ settings based on its orientation. Upright is the warm Bose signature sound. On its back is a treble boost with a little bass roll off. And vertical (like if hanging from its loop) is in between the 2. I like on its back the best, next vertical. I do prefer a slightly brighter sound, and on its back or vertical I get that. I am extremely happy with my Flex.

It has a full sound while using it to play KZhead videos and watching movies in bed. For my main speaker for my tv I have a Marshall Stanmore which sounds great but isn’t Bluetooth and doesn’t have a mic.

    • The instructions for setting up the Bose SoundLink Flex speakers in true stereo mode is on their website. Take one speaker and press the Bluetooth button and the plus button and hold down for 10 seconds until you hear the instructions to press the Bluetooth button and volume down button on the second speaker. Once you press the Bluetooth button and the volume down button on the second speaker for a couple seconds you will eventually hear a message that says “party mode“. You don’t need to go back to the original speaker and press and hold the Bluetooth and plus buttons again until you hear “stereo mode”. The original speaker is your left speaker. Once I did this I was extraordinarily happy with the sound from the speakers.

  • Thanks for the good summary. I went to the nearest electronics store, where I tried JBL, Sony, Sonos and Bose with my own ear, and finally Bose Soundlink and JBL Charge 5 were left (Yes Charge not the Flip 6) . Bose convinced me with its compact size and surprisingly high-quality sound image. In terms of bass, I couldn't tell much of a difference between Charge what was actually surprising. Even though the JBL Charge was a cheaper offer, I chose the Bose because of the compact size. Otherwise, both are good choices.

Both speakers are fantastic and I wouldn’t regret buying either. I went with the emberton because the battery is far superior and I don’t like needing to charge my speakers constantly. The emberton has a very balanced and clean sound profile whereas the bose has an advantage in the low end. The emberton isn’t lacking bass the Bose just has more. I will say that I prefer the sound profile on the emberton for live recordings like a video of a concert or something of that nature.

I own a Bose Flex (which is mono ) and also bought another speaker that was highly raved about on KZhead and Reddit that was stereo (supposedly). And the Flex sounded way more dynamic. I actually bought a second Flex and have paired for true stereo and while it does sound better and even more dynamic, when I disconnect and go back to one I really don’t feel like the music lost anything. Now if using for movies or TV that is a different story. But I can only contest to the Flex as sounding amazing for a mono speaker.

I did notice something unique about the JBL, it might have been the loudness with the vocals. But the Bose and Sonos had more immersion i guess. I preferably like the shape of the Sonos when it comes to portability. Plus the Bose wasn't rated well for durability and it seems more likely to get scratched during traveling in a bag since it's so bulky. The sonos is more compact and can probably be more easily cushioned during travel. In the end it's still a hard pick

None of the other speakers have voice control and felt this was more of a fair comparison. We did mention in the video there is an option for an upgrade and the voice support and Auto-Trueplay would have given it another couple of points in the Features field. Hope this helps!

Battery life is also amazing on them

    • What exactly do you like about the sound? How do you describe it in comparison to the other speakers that makes it better? I’m curious to know why people like it, other than the extra volume argument. To me, it’s a trade-off. Their sound, although unique, is completely inaccurate and fuzzy sounding to me. (When the singer in the sound tests makes an S sound, it sounds more like an SH sound on the UE in comparison to the others, almost like a poor radio signal to me.) All the other speakers also produce bass a little better. I like the JBL products the best for bass, because they are not really bass forward, they just go the deepest by far without a volume decrease. The Sonos roam has the same issue as the UE to me, just less so.

  • I had 3 diferent jbl flip 4, i was really happy with their sound but they would not last more than a few months. After that i bought a flip 5, it had more bass and less volume on mids and treble than the flip 4. The flip 5 lasted me 4 years and it finally died. I ordered a flip 6 without doing any research on it since i been using jbl for so many years. I hated the sound quality on the flip 6 right away, i was super disappointed. Saw a few vids and this one being the most informative one (thank you). I just went and bought a bose soundlink flex to compare it to the flip 6 before returning it. In my opinion the bose sound is superior. It does sounds distorted on full volume. The JBL feels easier to carry and looks more modern and sturdy than the bose. I will give the bose soundlink a chance and see how it holds. Thank you for this video.

  • Did I miss where it was mentioned that the Bose Soundlink floats? This is huge for a speaker that you might want to use by the water I mean, part of durability has to be whether or not you can actually retrieve the unit from the water. I like to listen to music by the pool, and being able to float is a huge selling point. I would have liked them to mention which speakers float, and which ones sink

  • IT’S LONG BUT PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ THIS. Just a thought on the JBL Flip 6 vs the Bose SoundLink Flex. They are the same size and according to the internet the bose has a larger transducer than the JBL but the JBL has a tweeter and an adjustable equalizer within the app where as at this time on the bose connect app there is not an equalizer to adjust the sound. But I have another bose speaker and it uses a different music app and it runs on the bose msuic app and in the bose music app it has an equalizer so you can adjust the bass and the treble to your liking. And in the JBL portable app you can do the same thing except you can also adjust the mid-range. Bose could add an EQ to there app in the future/near future. Bc I read on the internet that when the JBL flip 6 was released it did not have an adjustable eq within its app for its speakers. But now it has an eq in the app. I think with the equalizer off on the JBL the bose sounds better but with the eq on I think the JBL sounds better. So if bose added an equalizer that could change things. I know the speaker has position IQ technology where it’s supposed to adjust the sound depending on which way you lay it but it would be nice to be able to turn that off if you wanted to. A similar portable speaker called the sonos roam has a similar feature but in the sonos s2 app you can turn that feature off. In the bose app you cannot do that or on the speaker itself either. And also Sonos has an adjustable EQ within the app like the JBL. The bose is behind the times with that but I bet they’ll change for the better. I would turn position IQ off and have an equalizer set to my liking if I could. I prefer my bose soundlink flex to sit upright so it’s pointing at me but they say it will produce more bass if you lay it flat, in my testing this is true. A little more bass for sure. Which I like. But I shouldn’t have to lay it flat to get maximum bass output. And the speaker needs better rubber feet on it because sometimes it will move it self. Or vibrate itself off the table. So I would recommend not placing it near the edge of a table if you don’t have to. Thank you for whoever actually takes the time to read this.
