Hey bud Start on a 6ft… it’s big enough to start, but small enough to assist in learning the technique🤙🏻🎣 You can always go bigger once you’ve nailed it!

You still see it with some of the guys… but because of the braid revolution, most guys have changed over🎣🤙🏻 If there’s some SERIOUS BIG shark guys… then you see them on the beach from time to time🔥
I think it also has to do with conditions, longer casts sre often needed and the grinder setup is ideal for that. We use 15ft rods rated 6to8oz or 7to9oz and big grinders loaded with line
So do you some use 50w and higher there also
Yeah, this size is used, especially now along the KwaZulu-Natal coast over the upcoming month we have the sardine run, during this period there will be monsters coming out of the deep, even the largest reels sometimes have a problem 😅
