The folding kimbap is so easy and fun to prepare. You can basicly put any ingredients you like or you can find in your fridge and just fold it (as long as it's not too watery). It's very simple and delicious gimbap sandwich or sushi sandwich. It's great for lunchbox, picnic, or friends gathering! I also would like to share with you some tips for making neat and pretty kimbap in the video, enjoy!
Ingredients:
1. Tuna Mayo sandwich
canned tuna mixed with mayo, lettuce, carrot, rice
2. Luncheon meat sandwich
luncheon meat, cheese, lettuce, cucumber, kimchi, rice
3. Smoked salmon Sandwich
smoked salmon, crab sticks mixed with mayo, lettuce, cucumber, rice
4. Vegetarian sandwich
sweet pepper, cucumber, egg, cheese, rice

  • How long do these last? Can I make them a day before, or a couple of days prior to eating? They all look fabulous!!!!

    @marylinvieth3959@marylinvieth39592 жыл бұрын
    • I would suggest putting them in a container and store just over night in the fridge, no more than two days, because the cooked rice will be getting too dry if it stays too long, so it will affect the flavour and the texture. But you can prepare all the desired ingredients in advance and store them in separate containers in the fridge for a couple of days, so you only need to cook the rice and assemble them when you want to eat these, it will save a lot of time. I’m using a rice cooker which have timer can set it to finish cooking automatically by a specific time. I hope this makes some sense. Enjoy and thank you very much for watching!

    • @@AndresRodriguez-sm1fr soooo they’re not allowed to have free time or days off? Not allowed lunch breaks? Or breaks at all? What they choose to do in their free or spare time is for them. Not for you to judge or speculate what they may or may not be doing. I literally watched a line of nurses Tuesday perform cpr for over 15 minutes on an elderly person trying to save their life. They were beat red and sweaty. Not to mention most of them probably hadn’t had a break or chance to really eat yet. Then there are the icu nurses where they have 8 patients to 1 nurse ratio and they don’t get a chance to use the bathroom or eat if they don’t have someone reliving them during their shift.

  • Just made 9 of these (3 each for 3 people), using the second folding method. 60g of rice in each one, 30g for the bottom layer and 30g for the top. - Spicy tuna (fresh/sashimi tuna) - Salmon (fresh), avocado, and cucumber - Kingfish (fresh) and chili-garlic enoki All tasted great, and plenty filling, but the degree of effort was much higher than the video lets on. Easily took 2+ hours between prep and assembly. Even with practice I don't think I could get under 5 minutes per kimbap, just for assembly. The other issue was that the seaweed would quickly go a bit tough/soggy. Need wet hands/utensils to successfully work the sushi rice, but then all that moisture goes straight into the nori. Queensland humidity probably doesn't help, either.

  • The origin of gimpab is Japanese norimaki. Even in Korea, it was called norimaki until the 1990s, but the Korean government changed the name to gimpab for the sake of nationalism and it spread. In other words, gimpab is Korean style norimaki.

    • The origin of gimbap is japanese norimaki - partly right. Korea had its own style of seaweed roll, but japanese seasoning style became standard during colonial period. It was called norimaki until the 1990s - wrong In 1930's, it was still called 'kim-ssam-bap'. There's some variations, but people never called it japanese 'norimaki'(calling something in japanese has great risk in korea.) Korean government changed the name to... - wrong. Never happened. Kimbap is korean style norimaki - partly right. They came from same root, but it became quite different since '80's. In short, If it used sesame oil/salt to season rice, then its korean style And sugar/vinegar seasoning is japanese.

    • It is the first country to eat Kim among Korea, China, and Japan. There is a record of 1424 years in Korean history. Japan is 1717 years in Japan. Do you think Kim was the only one who ate Kim? I ate vegetables wrapped in dried laver or with oil and salt. Sausage came in and transformed, not Japanese Norimaki.
