I HAD NO CLUE THE MUSICAL WAS BASED OFF OF A MOVIE WTF, they got so many exact lines and moments from the movie to be in the musical I see
The musical is basically a carbon copy (in a good way). The movie is amazing
I haven't seen the musical but thought it was weird when they were promoting it they didn't mention the movie at all. There was no "Based on the movie written by Adrienne Shelly. " This beloved lovely movie was written and directed by her and ghey didn't even give her any credit - at least in the marketing. Thry honestly made it sound like sara barellis wrote it - she was credited as the writer in all the marketing I saw. ( I kmow she wrote the songs for tge musical, but the movie already had a few songs in it that were written by Adrienne ). That never sat well with me so I'm not really interested in seeing its musical version
I'm actually hoping to see the musical soon, but not before finally watching this movie.
@@electriclllady Actually, they give Adrienne Shelly a credit in the musical. Take further research on it.
@@3rd-drama376 None in the marketing however - so it's not a classy thing to do
I cant have coffee, it's on the bad food list you gave me, what kinda doctor are you?
Comedy gold. I laughed at that one.
Best line
Betrayed by my eggs pie
The best line is "...hold the banana"
Decaf jesus christ.... 😂😂😂
I feel so sad that the writer and director Adrienne Shelly, couldn't see her amazing film getting all the success it deserves and being a musical on Broadway before she died 💔😥😥
Especially with being such a big broadway fan herself
@@hale.yscomet omg that's so sadd ;((
She knows😊❤
@@vickimay3249 eternally knows
Amen
"I hate my husband pie" "I don't think we can write that on the menu" 😂😃😁
Poppy Field if you watched The Help, there’s another pie you can’t write on the menu.
@@mai.vancon haha yes I did watch it and you are right lol!
I got that reference :)
I woulc buy it, just for fun.
The amount of Broadway fans in this comment section actually scares me. 😂
We are everywhere.
Broadway fans are always scary It’s our purpose
@@liamneu1430 why is this such a *mood*
I didn’t know there was a movie or a musical. I plan to watch this over the weekend for Cheryl. I love her on Curb.
@@GreatGownsBeautifulGowns2018 the movie is great. And so is the musical
RIP Adrienne Shelly. You were one amazing actor, writer, and director.
She really was someone special. I just watched Trust for the first time, and I've never seen a screen presence quite like hers before. Her charm, intelligence, inquisitiveness, and lack of pretension are just something to behold. And she was ridiculously stunning to boot. RIP Adrienne!
She did not deserve the fate that was brought on to her. May the man who murdered her rot in hell for all eternity !
Her costar Cheryl Hines directed the movie that would have been Adrienne's follow up after Waitress. Serious Moonlight, starring Meg Ryan and Timothy Hutton.
@@satyendrandonibanerjee8682 Agreed. I hope there is a hell for that man.
This was her directiorial debut and it felt like she was already good at what she does. Man, I wish we could've seen more of her movies. Sad that she died too early
I like the line holds u for 20 mins straight without an ounce of selfishness
Oh my god, I thought this was just a musical
I think there’s is one bass on this
The musical was based on this movie.
SAME omg
Sorry but I'm currently obsessed with the musical and I can't help but to make this: 0:10 - Pomatter's Pie 0:15 - Club Knocked Up 0:22 - Opening Up 0:25 - What Baking Can Do 0:27 - A Soft Place to Land 1:05 - It Only Takes a Taste 1:21 - You Matter to Me (they literally uttered the lyrics haha) 1:38 - Never Ever Getting Rid of Me 2:05 - Take It from an Old Man 2:08 - The Negative 2:13 - Bad Idea Hahahaha I had fun spotting these moments. Sara Bareilles truly is a genius for making those songs! 😍
o:
Her abusive husband was revolting.
I do wonder what happened to him however once Jenna became the diner owner and won the contest...or does it matter anyway?
@@gracestenberg4188 It should.
@@gracestenberg4188 a coward like that shouldn't get a happy ending in any case, maybe that makes me rude or harsh, I dont care. No one has a right to hurt/treat ANYONE, wife/husband/ect, the way he treated/hurt her. Good riddens to him and any other jerk that thinks it's okay to treat someone like you own them just cause you're married to them.
Tell me about it
He was clueless! Haha!
This was the first movie I have seen in which I could really see and understand domestic abuse and violence. Absolutely scary. Her struggle was very well depicted how hard it is to get out of such an abusive relationship/marriage, how many hurdles it has.
Check the movie "the rainmaker"
"What kind of doctor are you?!" I'm dead😂😂😂
I didn’t know this movie existed before this and I didn’t know the musical existed either😂😅
Same!
It’s great, watch it 🖤
Remember watching this movie when it came out with my mom.. I love the comments, all these people not knowing it was a movie. I didn't know its now a Musical.
Same HERE!
You must listen to the musical (and maybe watch it live too if it's feasible for and playing near you)! It's incredible and one of my favourite musicals. It elevates the movie's material a lot.
I KNOW, right !!? Same here
If you are ever able to see the musical see it or listen to the soundtrack. The story is so well suited to be a musical and all the music was written by Sara Bareilles
OMG the songs from the musical have actual lines from the movie I’m gonna cry
One of my very favorite movies. Adrienne wrote a beautiful movie , & everyone was so good, especially her. So sad to hear of her death. RIP Adrienne. 💕
They should turn this into a musical.
lmfao, I can't wait to watch some dumbass get wooshed
Are you sure it wouldnt flop
Hmm I dunno I don’t think it’ll do well
ashton vickers yeah you’re right
Ikr
The director, the movie, the musical are amazing❤️ such great choices in the broadway cast and hope that Adrienne Shelly is proud
The brilliant Adrienne Shelly. Thank you for this film. We miss your talent.❤
It's so sad that such a beautiful, talented soul, would be taken away by some sick dude. Rest in peace Shelly. Bittersweet as it is, your hard work for this film had clearly been paid off.
“Du dada du dada du something between.” Gets me every time 😂😂
He gets props for creativity 👍👍
I watched this with my mom for the first time a few months ago, we both adored the scene where he just holds her for 20 minutes it’s so sweet
Adrienne Shelly inspires me to continue my dream. RIP Adrienne Shelly.
2:15 gets me everytime 😂😂
"Hold the banana"
What did u hear??
@@DeeRealGee Doc: *talking about how he wants to talk to her outside of the office, mentions getting coffee* Jenna: I can't have coffee it's on the bad food list *you* gave me! What kind of doctor are you?! Yes, I've seen the movie/musical too many times to count. No, I'm not going to stop.
Theres a musical. There’s a movie. Now I’m just waiting for the movie of musical of the movie. Would be amazing
Because that worked out so well for The Producers.
maybe you should write a book about it.... ;?>
@@joshgrumiaux6820 it worked good enough for Hairspray tho
I won’t mind as long as they get an amazing Jenna
@@manuelorozco7760 I would lobby for Jessie Mueller or Sara Barielles to reprise the role.
i did not know this was a movie omg shooketh
Lately, that's been the source of a few Broadway musicals. That little tidbit wasn't in the playbill?
Christopher C it wasn’t? In my west end waitress program they have a lot about it and Adrienne Shelly ( Dawn )
I love this film and when I found the musical I was so happy, this film is great, it deserved a musical.
Rest easy, Adrienne Shelly
I love how they were able to tell a uplifting and moving story while at the same time focusing on domestic abuse.
I can’t be the only one waiting for the musical movie. RIGHT?
Bravo, Adrienne. Thank you for leaving us with this masterpiece. So sad you left us too soon. You were a gift.
here after eleanor neale’s video :(
The movie is beautiful. Whether you have seen or plan on seeing the musical or not, the movie is a must-watch!
I saw the movie years before the musical
Adrienne Shelly, what a great gift you left us. You didn't deserve to go the way you did. RIP
One of my favourite rom coms because it’s actually funny and has a lot of heart! But always so bittersweet watching it because of Adrienne
I just saw the musical in London... AMAZING
OMG nathan fillion was in this. The musical was great
This is one of my favourite movies. It's sad people didn't know about it until the musical.
I knew about it beforehand. And I was surprised Sara Barralesis would do it
Did anyone else come here from Eleanor Neales video?
I absolutely love this movie - watched it a thousand times and this not a movie that I would have ever watched but luckily I watched it one day when I left the channel on and was hooked - so great.
I own this movie - I was so in love with it when I saw it - and I just rewatched it recently. Precious movie.
AMAZING feel good movie !! I was Pleasantly Surprised !! Life s Lesson Start Fresh !! ! of my FAVORITE movie !! You will not be disappointed !! Blessed 2023 to all the viewers !!
Seeing the musical will be amazing R.I.P Adrienne Shelly best film ever
Okkkkk I'm gonna be unoriginal and say pretty much the same thing everyone else is: WTH?! I HAD NO IDEA THE MUSICAL WAS BASED ON A MOVIE? FORGET SCHOOL TOMORROW, I NEED TO WATCH THIS NOW
Lots of musicals are based on movies, and not just the Disney ones.
So how was the movie?
@@Myhalamanz movie is awsome
NICE ACE ATTORNEY PFP
"What kind of doctor are you..." Bwahahahahhaha!!!!!
Fun fact! The gentleman who plays dawn’s partner here in the movie is also a part of one of the Waitress casts in broadway!
this was one of the best movies ever
The musical was incredible! Now im watching this one next!
I'm seeing the musical of this in march 😊 so excited 😀
I cant watch this trailer without hearing EVERY SINGLE LYRIC.
I just wanna say that I’m officially friends with everyone in the comments and there is nothing you can do about it.
A decade before seeing the musical, this movie was part of my 8th grade romcom phase.
Discovered the movie Trailer after Hearing About the Musical. Love the Trailer of the movie and I love the musical
I looked and looked for the name of this movie and I've finally found it! The ending stayed a happy memory in my mind from the first moment I watched it 🤗
RIP Adrienne Shelley. Was listening to "She Used To Be Mine" and researched the origins of the story. Very sad way to go, thinking of her family.
I just did the exact same 🥺
I miss this movie and my childhood. I used to relate Keri's character with my mum.
I was 14 when it came out. It was part of my 8th grade romcom phase
I didn’t even know they made a musical off this movie 😂😂😂I just Remember we had this dvd at home and so I watched it and I loved it and always thought the pies looked so good
I really really loved this movie❤️
This is one of my favorite movies.
All my life I’ve met harlots but you are a queen dadadada there’s something between 😂😂😂
When my parents first got cable they got stars for a few months for free and this movie was on there and I watched it all the time granted I'm sure as a 11 year old I should have been watching it but I enjoyed it
THE PIES ARE A MOOOOD t h i s t r a i l e r i s a m o o o o d !
I FREAKING LOVEEEEEEEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!
Great movie. I have the same vintage yellow Pyrex bowl and that glass pie dish!
I saw this maybe a year ago or possibly 1 1/2 years ago during lockdown. Great movie! And I recognize Keri Russell from the planet of the apes movies.
Jenna Is my favorite character in the film and musical Waitress and I love the very talented actress Keri Russell
She does a great job in this!
Happy belated birthday, Keri. Have a good one.
Whose here because of Eleanor neale
I've never actually watched this film and I didn't realize how much they took for the musical. I mean, I knew the musical was based on the movie, but I didn't think it was word-for-word. "I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes" is an actual line from the film and Sara turned it into a beautiful song lyric. It's amazing because this works so well as a musical, you'd think that's how it started.
I love how Ogie looks the EXACT same in the musical!!!
FR
Idk if you meant you liked how he returned to the role on Broadway or not but just in case anyone thought they casted someone who looked identical to Ogie for the stage adaptation, Eddie Jemison did return to the role of Ogie on Broadway in 2019.
Waitress is my favourite musical and I've been trying to find the movie to watch it but I cant find it anywhereeew
sara bareilles nailed dear baby from the movie. sadly never watched it before but it’s cool to see how many lines from the movie she snuck in the musical
I literally bought tickets for this yesterday Im so excited.v
I love this film!! had no idea it's now a musical! !
I haven't seen this movie yet and it's already my favorite.
Keri Russell's forever Oscar nomination that never came role! Absolutely loved this and I got it - even as a kid!
Anyone knew this movie existed before the musical came to exist? I did, it was part of my families large DVD collection
I looove this movie. I just love it.
Best movie..
Love this movie!❤️
Beautiful movie ❤
Excellent film.
This movie truly changed my life
this film just cracks me up
This is a such beautiful movie!
WHOAAAAA THIS ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE A GOOD MOVIE
Today I just watched the true crime video of Eleanor Neale on how the director of this movie Adrian Shelly was brutally murdered. May she rest in peace
That's Felicity! Interesting movie!
This is one of the few movies that, after watching, you'll think "that was amazing".
Omg I just realized it's nathen Fillion is the doctor guy I had his brother as my pricable in 7th grade cool
I loved this movie. Kerri russel is so beautiful and vulnerable. She is so lovable. I kinda hoped she would end up with the doctor.
RIP🥺☹️
Donde la puedo ver gratis?
Much like Selena with Dreaming of You, I believe that had Adrienne Shelly lived to see the success of this movie, she would’ve been one of the most sought-after indie writers in the business.
A classic. Love Andy Griffth!!
NATHAN FILLON WAS THE DOCTOR, IM SHOOKETH
...Am I the only one who found the movie before the musical? Or am I just showing my age?
I'm probably older, but like my Mom said, and they're always right--age is just a number! I never knew there was a movie or musical....Actually I heard of 'movie.' Tragedy about the movie's creator/writer. RIP🌹😢
I found the movie *because* I found the soundtrack to the musical, then found the actual musical, fell in love and have watched both way more times then i can count, if that means anything. Lol
Nope. I saw the movie twice on tv before i ever heard of a musical being made. But that was years ago. Im 29 btw.
@@notamonkey1690 same! I’m 23, and I first watched the movie in late 2009.
Omg the musicals OBC nAILED Ogie
Amazing movie!!
I’ve known waitress the musical for over a year now and I’m just finding out right now in this moment that it was a movie first are you kidding me how am I just finding this out now why hasn’t nobody talked about the movie
