@@JillKnapp You can appreciate their work, ideally by laughter, and you're free to cheer on them at the end of the segment, but in the previous Surprise Inspection I'm referring to, the audience broke out in applause every time they showed Matt on camera, just seconds after groaning at his jokes. Frequent applause breaks just kill the flow of the show in my view, one of my biggest peeves with Colbert's show for example is that the audience just halts the conversation/monologue by cheering after every second sentence for 10 seconds. And I get that you're excited to be in the crowd, but the show is mainly for the home audience, so let the performers perform.

The back and forth with Scollins is genuine and charming. The visibility of the writers on this show is what makes it what it is.

I will say this… Seth has been talking about how he doesn’t want to do corrections anymore, but I kinda think it would be great if Scollins took over for him. It feels like he might be able to capture the right hostility towards the audience
2:32 the delay to forget it's about ketchup is why it's such an amazing joke. The punchline comes out of nowhere.

@@imightbebiased9311 no the opposite, it immediately hits. But it hits harder because you forget the joke is about heinz. Without the long set up, the punchline would be very obvious because of how common it is.
My only problem with the “All Scollins” section is the fact that it ruins my personal game of “guess which joke is Scollins” Also, I adore the reaction to the Conga dogs jokes, lol

I used to campaign for an all Scollins monologue but I'm happy with an Oops, All Scollins section of Surprise Inspection

Someone else said this on the other video with Surprise Inspection, but it really is amazing that this show is a 10/10 sitcom disguised as a late night show.
My jaw dropped at the bill Cosby joke and then I laughed so hard at seth gossiping to the audience about calling him a coward :) this is literally the best segment every seth!!!
The "Dog explodes mailman" joke was, seriously, one of the best bits I've seen Seth tell. The tombstone listing only the deceased's occupation is the chef's kiss.
"He didn't have to come to work today" is gonna stay with me for a while

I'm convinced that the Groundhog Day joke in yesterday's monolog was a Scollins joke. I'm surprised it made it and wasn't a Surprise Inspection one.

Judging by the audience laughter, many jokes (even the bad ones) passed the Surprise Inspection.
DEAR LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MYERS, We really like those segments that show Seth and the crew's magic, together. It's been a decade and everyone is still there, it is like a family sitcom sometimes lol

Brian left the long set up to get his joke aired as he knew Seth wouldn't resist a 'teaching' moment. Brian conned 'im into it.
I don't quite think this works in print, but I could tell it was there, and was able to see how it would have worked out loud once I went back and tried it out.
