Restoring an old, rusty electric drill. The design of this drill reminds me of old 60's campers, that's why I went with the polished aluminium look in this restoration.
Inside wiring was a mess, with sandpaper used as insulation tape...
When I looked for it online I found a picture of a drill with the handle painted in a faded shade of green which I liked. The guy at the paint shop attempted to match the color and failed spectacularly.
The drill chuck was in really poor shape and I even went and bought a new one to use if the original one was beyond repair. But a few days in vinegar and the chuck cleaned really nice and got unstuck. A bit of polish and it was good to use in the restoration.
i love how russian tools can be rusted and electryfingly deadly but they still work.

@@EmpireBStreams это же дрель, а не конденсатор, меня лично била, не возможно нормально что-то просверлить под угрозой удара электрическим током, причем 230 в. Показывало в пробое(

It was not "N3-1008" model, but "ИЭ", sounds like EE-AE, came from first 2 letters of "Electrical Instrument"- "Инструмент Электрический". Electric Instrument model 1008. smth like that. Great restoration work, btw.

@@kod5679 Это специально разработанный облой на рукояти. Рука начинает аццки болеть через 10-15 минут работы и вы вынужденны прекратить сверлить, тем самым продляя жизнь инструменту.
Так они и со шпионами прокалывались... Сделали фальшивые документы, не подкопаться к типографии с блестящими новенькими скрепками. В СССР такие скрепки не выпускали ))

I love how you left the hardware the way it is. You took immense amounts of time and care to restore every other piece, but you made a creative decision to leave the those screws untouched. Maybe I'm looking to deep into it, but I feel like that small touch shows respect to the tool and the restoration process. Again, love the video! Thanks for sharing.
A much better touch would have been to leave the name of the operator which is real history and restore the screws

в этой дрели всё отличного качества и надолго, кроме кондеров БМ, из-за них она как раз и могла бить на корпус. А что его не дернуло после сборки, так может из-за того, что он шевелил их выводы

Купив любой инструмент сделанный в СССР, восстановив его получишь ещё столько же лет службы от него. Хорошая работа. Каждый кому не лень про ржавые болты написал, но мне кажется это специальнл было)

I understand why you put the screws back in because I am guessing the owner wanted ALL ORIGINAL PARTS with the exception of the cord. Great Job its beautiful and you are truly a skilled tradesman.
