There were so many people in the chat saying that magic cat academy is a ripoff of another game (divineko, made in the last two or three years), but magic cat was a halloween google doodle in 2016 and then reprised itself with a sequel for halloween 2020. Was surprised that people didn't remember these google doodles, or maybe they are just too young.

honestly i’d support a longer, standalone version of Magic Cat Academy on kickstarter or something it had a legitimately solid core concept that i think could be expanded into something really fun
it's like a drawing version of a rhythm game which is super cool. definitely would love a full size game on that

Imagine you work hard getting a computer science degree. You learn how to code in hopes of making it big one day. You finally get hired by KZhead, you’re proud of yourself; it’s one of the biggest tech companies in Silicon Valley after all. Then they ask you to create these fucking games - god I feel for whoever had to implement these games.
youtube didn't make these games, they're just providing the games cut the rope and angry birds are the easiest examples, they're games made by normal game companies and youtube is just paying them to have them on their site

@@xxgothicprincessxx i don't do contract work for google, but i do very similar work to this and it's kind of fun and a nightmare at the same time. if you like programming then it doesn't matter how shit the concept is, you can have fun problem-solving how to get it to work. that being said, answering to these rich assholes managing the projects from the client side is the most soul crushing dream killer. they do not like innovation. i cannot count the number of times i have sent over a wip build and gotten back a screenshot of the game they're having us rip off saying "make it look more like this".

It is fascinating to me that KZhead thinks taking other established mobile games and effectively making cheap ripoffs for their own website is not only a good idea, but also that it’s not in violation of any intellectual property laws? Pretty baffling decision.

90% of those games that are popular are also rip-offs of apps that didn't get popular. Making the exact same game but with a different skin is practically impossible to enforce copyright on in that industry with how many of them are rip-offs. If anything, I have a feeling most of the original apps that created these ideas aren't even on the app store anymore because they didn't have the money to fight against the popular ones saying they stole the idea from them, if the popular apps bothered doing that at all.
They are just hiring outsourced garbage and letting it be on their website. This is what happens When you have overpaid useless employees

Bro Ludo is a Pakistani board game staple. The rules are go around the board with all 4 of your pieces before the others, but anybody that lands on the same space as another (while not on safe space) sends the piece back to start, and a piece only leaves the start if you roll a 6. There’s more, but that’s the gist.

not that i want this, but for this to succeed it needs to be integrated so that you can play while your video is playing. Split the screen or something. If it was integrated so i can play my wordle or some shit while watching my 4 hour youtube documentaries, id prob end up using it. But these kinds of ideas are always half assed by companies.

Netflix executed their games very well and they’re mostly really good games. KZhead tried to recreate it too quickly with terrible games and it shows. Also not being able to download them isn’t a good thing I can’t watch KZhead Picture in Picture while playing the games on the KZhead app which is mildly annoying.
Props to KZhead they made the games we all see in adds made it actually free with no adds or marcheting.

I actually don't mind these games. It's good for kids to be able to play these without the ad every 45 seconds like from the app store, not to mention the lack of in game purchases.
Its amazing that everyone see the fake ads, goes I would love that game, devs go sweet, I got you. And then make something so far off what the ad was you can only assume they didn't watch it
i think youtube has some potential with this if they opened it up to independent creators, even if they still moderated the games that get published. normally i'm against these big companies taking over more platforms, but a game platform that's directly connected to youtube has some cool possibilities with integration. imagine videos of gameplay not only linking to the actual game that you can play on the site, maybe even in a sidebar, but also allowing creators to set challenges and share high scores and such. imagine watching lud livestreaming playing a game and being able to send him a verified legit clip within the chat of you demolishing his score.

Magic cat academy was cute but the core concept was pretty much ripped from Magic touch on mobile, if you want more of that type of gameplay I suggest ya'll go check it out!
Honestly, even though I don't really get the point of having games on streaming platforms like Netflix or KZhead, you do have to admit that some of them are pretty good despite 90% of them looking like a bad mobile game. Like, the cat spell casting one looks like an *actual* flash game you would see in Cool Math Games or Armor Games or something, which I feel like KZhead should shoot for instead of "Here's a situation with something missing, scribble a line where the object is missing, and you win! Don't you feel happy? HAVE FUN, THAT'S AN ORDER!"
Monomi Park might want to come take a look at that slime game. Honestly didn't think much of it until there was a closeup shot of one of the crystals. Those are 100% just plorts. It's not a typical diamond shape, plorts specifically have the offset/jagged middle section. The slimes are fine because any colorful round blob with a face is gonna have some resemblance to Slime Rancher, but to also just directly rip plorts and hope that the recolor is enough for people to not notice is some Pal World type shit fr.
