Asian Racism Social Experiment | What Would You Do?
Where To Donate To Help Asian Communities 2021 - nymag.com/strategist/article/...
Hello, this is Mick.
Recently I conducted a social experiment to see what sort of racism Asians in America suffer from.
As an Asian, as an influencer, and as a video creator I felt like I should do something and after searching for something I can do to make a difference under the current circumstances, I decided on this project.
Everyone, racism against Asians is happening all over the world and recently the situation seems to have been getting worse.
On March 16th, six Asian women were shot dead in Atlanta, the capital of Georgia, in the southern United States.
These people were killed but shootings happen every day, how does it affect me?
"Our silence is complicity," Biden said.
So, what do we have to do?
I don’t want to turn my back on my Asian brothers and sisters.
At the very least, I want to take action to make more people aware of this.
If you feel bad for people suffering from racism, I believe you have a moral responsibility to help them.
I will never forget; I will do what I can.
I hope you will all never forget this incident either.
I sincerely hope that this video helps you feel something.
At the same time, I want to recognize that there is a lot of discrimination in Japan as well.
If anyone around you is being discriminated against, please, please reach out.
I hate to even think about it, but I also experienced a lot of discrimination in Japan when I was a child.
"Because I'm Korean." "Because my nationality is different." "Because different blood is flowing in my veins."
Wrong. I'm Asian and I'm a human being.
There is a lot we can do, please take action beyond just feeling bad.
Now is the time to get up.
Act if you feel.
Mick Kim.

"Don't listen to that guy ", "I'm glad you're here" ..that made me tear up
@HowardSternfan 2 ? What do you mean ? Who cares?
@HowardSternfan 2 think about how disgusting that is they never did anything to you they just look different than you
@HowardSternfan 2 and what did they do ?
@HowardSternfan 2 I’m so disappointed. I can’t believe that you are not smart enough to just recognize that you’re action is making a lot of people sad including us. Not just Asians. Also did you know that the condition in Asia is so much better than the U.S? I don’t think you even knew that little fast. Cause almost every racist doesn’t even try to understand the truth. You are too afraid to face the truth so you’re running away from it by insulting others. And the easiest way is to insult Asians because there is a reason for it. But actually if you just searched about it for like only 10 minutes, you can find out that they are innocent. I don’t mean I don’t have any anger about it, but I don’t think insulting others are the best choice. This is the time that we must work together and overcome this pandemic. I’m sorry for sending this long message to you, but I just wanted you to understand the essence of human will appears when there’s a big crisis. Do you want humanity to be like that. I don’t.
@HowardSternfan 2 Thanks. And please think about others before you comment cause it may hurt lots of people all over the world. And I’m sorry for the misunderstanding in the last comment.
That guy who said “I’m glad you’re here” made me cry a bit cus those word send to a person could mean a lot.

Yhhh 🥺
I love the girl who’s selling candy. What a pure hearted human being
She is such a gentle and sweet person 💓
She was just a worker doing her job... 🥺
Certainly 🥺
I'll go to the guy with the gray sweat shirt. His advice made me cry a bit
no she wasnt she didnt stand up for the guy at all
That dude at 4:03 who walked him away and had a respectful manner even after what the actor said was so impressive. Physically putting himself between the two and walking him away in a non aggressive way, asking his name and engaging him in a dialogue has a massive impact and you can see the actor is flummoxed especially when he tells him look we are all people and I respect you. The rest did good in easing the tension temporarily like the candy lady who tried to make the victim feel better. But that guy's response to the aggressor is how minds are changed. He will do great things, he is born leader.

I agree totally!

❤
I live in Australia and this happens to me almost every week. The difference is that no one ever helped me. I have been ignored, screamed at and assaulted for being Asian. Even when it took place in broad daylight, on a busy street in one of the major cities here, no one cared. They just walked on and pretended they didn't see it. I try to avoid going out these days because of this. It really is detrimental to your mental health when people constantly remind you that you don't belong and you should "f off to your country". I am so touched to see these amazing people who stood up for him. They are really the best! It's so great to see more of the good side of humanity. It really gives me hope and I just wish there were more people like them in this world.
I keep hearing that Australia sucks for non-whites, so I hope it will be non-white majority soon. Just karma
Just ignore them .. be brave and strong
Bystander effect
Of course, because this is simply a video to make people feel good. reality is completely different
@user-vt4po6vl9k yeah if it was but it is just little part of them... so we cannot see like that good people
you can tell the girl selling candy is the sweetest most kindest soul ever...the way she was telling the actor playing the bad guy “i hope you have a better day” and then hugging the other guy

I love the time stamp at 7:53 because you can't say those type of demeaning phrases around black people. We're used to being subject to the same type of dishonorable things you're saying to another race. So immediately we take offense. Which is why I was so proud to see that man be defensive of Mick to help him and to show nobody should be submissive to that type of deplorable behavior. 💜👏🏼
what are you on about... every single race was being demeaned like that.... slavery doesn't equal being a race issue at all... slavery was a process of dehumanisation and using the N word towards black slaves was used to dehumanise black slaves even more... black people aren't the 'subject' since every race was... the reason why slavery was banished to be an illegal process was because of white ppl who saw it as a morally bad thing which is what the British set out to do and then it spread to America where the civil war happened between the north and the south to fight against or stand with slavery, everything after that throughout American history were everyone being the 'subject' to what has happened not just black ppl
Yeah The Black guy wasn't going to put up with that Racist Nonsense!

Thank you for making this video bro! I am in immigrant from Central Asia who lives in Western Pennsylvania and have had many issues with this since 2020. Its been really hard to do basic things like taking public transportation or go grocery shopping without people looking at me weird and trying to start fights and being racist. Seeing good people who stand up for us and do the right thing makes me feel a little better about America. I wish we had more people like them who accept us for who we are and not put labels on us. We are just people like them who are doing their bests to succeed in the land of opportunity. I wish you all the luck with your channel! Keep up the great work!
That poor girl who was just trying to do her job. I was worried she wasn’t really going to react but after the actor guy left and she broke down I could tell she was just really nervous and scared of him and just wanted to avoid making him mad

This guy is Korean, his name is Kwangsoo, but in this video he pretends to be Japanese. In another video, he explained that he received a lot of discrimination in Japan when he was a child for being Korean. He said he wanted to make this video to unite Asians that they face the same problems when they go abroad no matter where they come from. All I can say is the world would be a much better place if everyone stopped judging others and started looking inward more... Why can't there be more people like the girl in the video?
Wow..
The girl who gave him a hug is such a sweetheart. You can tell that’s the kind of person she is.
Yeah it was very sweet but part of me is anxious cuz of corona yk the no hugging thingy

Part of this was filmed on my college campus. Happy that people stepped up to defend Mick in a positive way.♥️
Even if one of the early groups on the phone was not speaking out you have to understand not everyone has the courage or confidence to speak back, the fact they stood near him and continued there is a great sign of being on his side. With that said, really nice people who were willing to speak out against him, the candy girl and the guy around minute 4 that proper gave him a life lesson were wonderful in showing how it's done without escalating things, while the ones at the end were more aggressive in tone, so this video shows three ways to react and all three are correct as they stood up for him.

你好,我是在中国上海生活6年的德国人。中国人民是好样的,我在中国,让我感受到来自中国人民的人情,我刚开始来中国时,人们都帮助我努力的适应环境,对此我非常感谢!中国人不应该在海外得倒歧视
You’re a ching chong virus. So shut up
@@tommyglucklich8800 maybe is the propaganda of the bbc politics. to make some white person discriminate Chinese Korea or Japanese. but what ever happened. we always shouldn't to discriminate the others peoples.

the guy who took some time to talk to the “rude” man is actually very nice. like he is trying to tell him it’s not nice to do that without the rage and all. super cool to see that
I aspire to be that kind of reaction, but in reality I’m a 5ft female & acting like I’m a fight specialist hoping no one calls my bluff 😅 I’m like that annoying jack Russell that barks viciously but actually hates fighting.
That dude may have some martial arts training he seemed very confident. He got between them, looked him right in the eye and descalated the situation. Perfect response

It made me tear up thanks for the video I’m glad they took up for him even if he was joking lot people need to wake up watch this video
There are three types of people who react when others are insulted: - those who are awkwardly silent - those who really don't want to interfere - those who defend bravely. Honestly I respect every choice, but for me the third one is the real protagonist in life.
Idk what I’d do, I can’t handle situations like that cause my mind would go blank but I’d hate to look like a asshole for not speaking up. I don’t even speak up for myself most of the times :/
I’d try to calm both parties down by distracting them, it could go from changing the subject to forcefully getting a water hose.
@@thestrangeandstupidone8116 i always that kind of person too, but maybe that most basically in my head, when certain thing like that happened to me i dont like to put myself in shit that will disturb me in anyway, so i choose the best way that suit my introvert personality that hate interrupting with another people's live, to not do anything is a bad thing ,so distract both party into something else is the best way for me.
Lol someone could bitch slap me and I wouldn't react until they've long gone. My brain doesn't work fast enough to defend itself, much less other people lol.
As long as the other guy is not physically dangerous, ignore him. As my mother always said: if someone call you a "son of bitch", ignore him. You know that I'm not one, so why should you care? And I always agreed, it's not like you going to talk things out and the dude is gonna end up being sorry. The real courage is not putting yourself and others in danger.
“ dont listen to that guy he is full of crap i am glad u are here” my H e a r t
Tears were shed
Thankyou, we need more Asian awareness of this issues shined to light. We don’t often represent ourselves with these types of experiences, so it’s good to let it be known the social experiments based off on Asian ethnicities. We too, experience a lot of racism. Heck, be an old Asian woman walking down San Francisco and you’ll be targeted.
The guy that randomly came up and said don’t listen to that guy I’m glad your here, sir your very cool for that
The girl in the yellow is so pure , 😓😭 I need people like this in my life.
