The saddest part of this video is the sequence of passes at Anfield that Messi gave to Coutinho, Alba, and Suarez. All of those passes should have been assists. Anybody who really watched the collapse at Anfield would know that Messi was the best player on the field for most of that game. People like to blame him for that loss, but the reality is that his teammates and coach let him down that day. IMO 2018/19 was Messi's best individual season. He almost single-handedly dragged an under-performing team and average coach to the treble. This is the season that haunts us as Barca fans. The 2022 World Cup goes a long way to relieving the pain as a Messi fan, but the 2019 season would have been Messi's greatest accomplishment if he completed the treble. His Barca career deserved a better ending (and at least 1 more UCL).
We were close to taking the Champions League just because of one player from Messi but Messi made up for it in the Copa America and the World Cup. So I'm happy now and I'll be even happier if he takes the Copa America this year as well. Good luck to the undisputed goat🐐
Argentina should have won the 2019 Copa America as well if not for the puzzling decision of starting Acuna in midfield instead of Lo Celso. And it was useless playing 2 logs in center-back (Pezzella and Otamendi). For that Copa, it should have been a partnership between Foyth and Lucas Martinez/Senesi. I think Argentina’s continued reliance on Pezzella & Otamendi will cost them down the line.

They think that scoring from 6 yards after the space has already been opened up for him every match is impressive, or they applaud him getting an assist from a cross. The truth is Cristiano is lucky to be amongst the GOATs. No doubt in terms of statistics he is up there, but he lacks something that so many other greats like Cruyff, Puskas, Zico and Di Stefano had: close range dribbling ability and ball retention.

The greatest individual season by any player ever, including messi himself. Dude was doing everything and was absolutely required to, there was no room for an off game or even an off play. HIs first leg performance against liverpool was unforgettable. Never mind the 2 goals he scored, if not for him, liverpool would have smacked them at camp nou as well, he was barca's only outlet against the high press of liverpool. Fair play to liverpool and trent for the second leg heroics which was incredibly amazing and beautiful in its own right. Felt like the football gods had enough of messi performing like a god and decided to teach him a lesson. I guess it teaches us that the end of the day, no matter how good you are, you cannot win alone.

Yes, he is gifted beyond measure, but he transformed himself from a talented but fragile boy to animmense and the invincible leader of his team. Players fall off from the age for 31-32, while he put on numbers on that period alone most amazing players can't rack up in their entire careers. Same applies for CR7, these two ruined football, any season below 40-50G/A is mediocre at best for a good player.
