To photograph birds of prey in flight is so much fun. But not easy. But the nikon z9 holds up really good with the auto focus on birds in flight. I use my atomos ninja V+ to show a little of my birds of prey flight photography technique. Hope you enjoy this day from my photography hide.

Great video and wonderful images as always Trond . I am a little surpriced by the 1/800 shutterspeed the video indicates. I would have expected a higher speed for the sharp flight images you show?

wow, such a lovely set of images, and yes getting out with your camera is a great way to relax, even if you don't photograph anything just being out in the wild away from the noise where the silence defining is truly beautiful.

Love the hawks. How are you getting so many raptors at a stationary hide? Are you feeding them? Never seen Rough-legged or Goshawks eat scraps. cheers
Trond, were you using primarily Auto AF with Subject Detection in this video? Im still figuring out the Z( and usually use Wide Area AF Small, sometimes large and I often struggle a bit locking on. I haven't really tried Auto AF. I know it uses nearly the entire frame and that appeared to be what you were using. Really nice shots. I enjoy your channel.

Where you using the Z6ll as the camera filming you? If so it looks great in low light. I am so far behind on making my own videos.... I gotta get out there! Greg

Hi Trond, I have a couple of questions… did you build the hide yourself or it is a public one? And how do you know the birds of prey will visit the specific location? Do you bait them?
Hi Jonathan! We are some friends who made the hide. And in the winter we have som road kill in the area. And this also is a great place for them to hunt mice. That was what the buzzard did.
Sitting in a hide and photographing birds, really, LMAO. How hard can that be. Did you also bring your road kill.
