Then, on Facebook, there was a Champion line breeder had Rottweiler puppies ready to go. (Undocked. It is illegal here in the UK.) Now this. "I do not need another dog. I seriously do not need another dog ..." (In case anyone is wondering, and they probably are not, I went from a Rottie to a smooth-coated JRT! Who was meant to be a short-haired GSD but nope ... I do not need another dog ... )

    • @@ConnorEverything1997 of course, you have hunting in every country, a lot of bird dogs were bred here for pheasant and duck hunting. There are also deer and boar, although those are most often controlled by forest rangers since the populations get large without natural predators. But you have to get a licence and finish some tests before being allowed unlike in some other countries.

It's far less traumatic for dogs to start learning to be bathed at 8 weeks than to wait until they're 3 years old and been sprayed by a skunk or rolled in a dead squirrel carcas.

A quiet, gentle giant. Made it to (we think) 11 years old and had nothing but good days til the end. • @@wickdwabbit I'm so glad to hear that, it means a lot and I bet you won't regret it. We've always had at least two dogs since I was a kid, some made it a lot longer than others, it's the unfortunate downside to adopting senior animals is your time with them is even shorter. As much as I recommend giving senior animals a chance, it being your first dog, it may be nice if you find one on the younger side to adopt. It's literally the only thing I regret about having our rottie is how little time we got with him. The time goes so fast. And he really was the sweetest dog I ever met. Anyway long way to say I'm glad you considered a rottie, hope it's love at first sight just like for us. 💜

We watched SO MANY videos on Rottweilers and once we adopted him, immediately put him into training for both him and us. He is the most well behaved and kindest boy (plus he has a tail)! You cannot own breeds like this if you’re unwilling to do the training. They are SO motivated and willing to please but are indeed stubborn.

    • I worked at a dog friendly store and we had a regular who always used to bring his dog in. Absolutely massive rottweiler. Absolutely giant marshmallow. Whilst his human was doing boring electronics purchasing, he would take up the role of greeted, approaching people for pats on entry, then going to sit by the actual human store greeter. He was an excellent (if stinky) ambassador for his breed. TBH every single rottweiler I've met has just been a giant marshmallow. They're one of my favourite breeds

My partner and I went out to inspect the damage, and the dog was standing in his yard looking very confused. He unfortunately passed at 3 months old, we only had him at home for 3 days before we found out he had parvo. He spent the rest of his life (2 weeks) at the vet trying to beat it. He was already emaciated from being in the shelter, I think he didn't have much left in him in the way of energy and no extra weight to lose. RIP Diablo this video reminds me of your sweet face ❤

One time, we had a small bonfire, and I watched my friends male Rottie walk with my boys, him being closet to the hot coals, slowly widening his circle to keep my boys from getting hurt (I was right there and within reach of my children). @_BLACKSTAR_@_BLACKSTAR_2 ай бұрын
    • From my own experience dogs tend to target the neck or face in a fight, so the ears and tail are almost never at risk anyways. The most recent example I can give was when my family's dog (a large Finnish Lapphund) had an argument with a neighbour's dog (a former street dog). Both dogs went for the face and neck above all else. And don't worry, those two are friends again! Neither had any major injuries afterwards.

      @user-bu7vb5tg6b@user-bu7vb5tg6b2 ай бұрын
    • @@_BLACKSTAR_Any “working” dogs where they have constant contact with underbrush may require their tails being docked because they can be caught in bushes and pull. Also, you argument about livestock protection dogs is stupid, frankly. Predators can still attack them, either because they’re attacking in groups, or because they’re desperate for food. Another reason a dog may have its tail docked is to prevent it from getting mangled because they simply wag it so much and it hits hard surfaces like doorways and tables, and can even sprain from the movement. I know a dog that happened to. Docking for fashion is wrong, but banning docking (for tails, not ears because there is nothing that can excuse docking ears) all together causes issues for working dogs and extremely tail-happy dogs.

They aren't the same as Jim down the street that just had a litter of puppies and wants a ton of money for them. Not everyone can take the chance with adoption. Shelter dogs have a past and they need a family that can give them a good home NO MATTER WHAT THEIR ISSUES. Not everyone can do that. Some people need to buy a dog that fits a particular need and lifestyle and a true breeder can offer that. They cost that much because of how much work goes into being a true breeder that does it for the love of the breed and wanting to maintain healthy dogs throughout generations. Do some research.

  • Am gonna say something that’s probably gonna cause controversy, but as long as people continue to buy from breeders that put their dogs through unnecessary aesthetic modifications (whether the potential owners want it or not) will continue to do so as long as they’re making money from them. Boycott breeders that dock tails, tape ears, or carry out any modifying procedures on their animals.

    @MayB_D@MayB_D2 ай бұрын
  • 1:47 Sorry but they literally supported the cruel act of tail docking by handing the breeder thousands for this puppy and their excuse is they couldn’t find a breeder who didn’t dock? Um well get another breed of dog with breeders that dont dock then? The fact that they just had to have a specific breed for no reason is gross. Theres plenty of similar hardy, friendly breeds to Rottweilers that don’t have docked tails. They still paid for a docked tailed puppy, they supported that cruel act with their wallets. Yeah f this pups owner for supporting that shit. 2:14 also it is what the owner wanted. The puppy wasn’t forced onto them they chose to buy a docked puppy, anyone that genuinely cares about Rottweilers would not hand over their money to a breeder that docks tails.
