Russia's first mobilization since WWII has sparked protests and led to the mass exodus of men avoiding the draft. However, the country's recruiting campaign is far from failure as enlistment centers work around the clock to call up some 300,000 reservists needed to beef up Russia's forces in Ukraine. I visited a draft office in Moscow and spoke with young guys who decided to stay and join Russia's war effort

Thank you, man from the other hemisphere. I am from Russia and many of my friends were called for this nonsense. I dissuaded them, but they considered me soft-bodied. Russian people are very harsh and stupid. But I am sure that very soon they will see the light and realize that they have done something stupid. An interesting look into the minds and opinions of Russian conscripts. Here in the US we dont' really get this kind of reporting in the news, at least not to this extent. Thanks for posting this.

@Yvonne Bowe What does that have to do with my comment? Here in the US we do not get the level of reporting from inside Russia that was presented in this video. We mostly get just what the major media want us to see. As for conscription in the US, every male over age 18 is required by Federal law to be registered for Selective Service (the 'Draft'), and during a major war, Congress could easily re-start conscription. But that has little to do with what I said in my comment.

This may seem to be a strange story, but I had a baby boy on April 24, 1986. Two days later the Chernobyl nuclear plant blew up . My heart was full of sorrow and thanksgiving and love and respect for the many Russian men who sacrificed their lives or suffered from radiation, to contain that dangerous site for the sake of the whole world . My son will be 38 years old this month, and I still have the highest regard for the Russian people.
Chernobyl blew up in Ukraine. The liquidators came from all over the Soviet Union. But most were from Ukraine or Belorussia.

I understood that they were Russian people, as we heard in the news, people who speak Russian, who live in the Soviet Union, whose families previously experienced the Russian revolution. Who used to have a royal family ruling over the Russian people, whose only son had hemophilia, who were executed cruelly. Those Russian people. Why wouldnt I call them Russians? The people in Ukraine are Russian speaking people as far as I know. They were not Japanese people, or Turkish, or Chinese. Is there some confusion?

I do not have anything against Russians, they also played a role in liquidating Chernobyl. My point is, it was a shared effort between all the peoples of the Soviet Union, not just Russia. In other words, no, Ukrainians, Belorussians, Poles, Latvians, Estonians, Germans, etc; are not Russian

What do you expect? This are actually rich Russians (Moskwa region), used to counter strike warfare, and have to sit now for 4 months in trenches, that get wet in the daytime and frosty in night time. Wonder if the lawyer can keep his boots dry there. No chance to warm up , because heating means an immediate shell reaction of the Ukraines . They end up like Paul Bäumer in "Nothing new on the west front". So actually read this book.

I am a Norwegian and 58 years old, so i am not exactly the best soldier for Russia to use. But if there was a easy way for me to move to Russia and do work in some of their factories that suffer from lack of manpower because of the mobilization and i could be sure to have a place to stay when i was there, i would do so. As i see it Russia and China is the only sensible great powers that is left now, the true axis of evil(USA, England and France) have gone completely insane in so many ways now. EU actually just proposed a new law where it shall be forbidden to not hate Russia (or to be pro Russian as they put it...) But i will be pro Russia even if they send me to prison for it. I hope the best for every single Russian that now fight against the American attack in Ukraine. Most of us know about the history of The Cuba Crisis and how the US reacted to that. Since that US have created their own version of The Cuba Crisis again and again. The Cuba Crisis 02 with Norway in to NATO.. The Cuba Crisis 03 with Estonia The Cuba Crisis 04 with Latvia The Cuba Crisis 05 with Lithuania The Cuba Crisis 06 with Finland The Cuba Crisis 07 with Sweden The Cuba Crisis 08 with Ukraine and so on. And in their insane minds they still expect Russia and China to respect their Monroe Doctrine that was made so other countries should respect USA`s right to do as they want with countries in the western hemisphere.. To be clear, if Norway and Russia end up in a war because of US, i will fight together with the Russians, if i am fit as a soldier or not, simply because it is clear who is the good and who is the bad.

But i am also practical, and will not move there if i don`t have economical insurance until i get a job, know that i will have a place to stay and things like that. You don`t just move to Russia with 2000 dollar in your pocket and see how it goes..
If I were you, it is also possible to help Russia. For example: "Supplies of industrial equipment or assistance in organizing such supplies" would be a very tangible help for Russia.

I'm completely blown away with a guy that was a lawyer. Does he really think somebody wants to invade russia. All the reading he said he has done he obviously is done very little to read anything outside of Russian literature. I'd love to see an interview with them after he returns or goes to fight and realizes the rules that his government has put before them.

So refreshing compared to the videos ive been seeing in Ukraine where they chase their conscipts at rail stations, or grab them in the streets and push them in a van. These days they are driving around in ambulances instead of vans so as not to alarm the public as they scout around.

Ukrainians cannot be compared with Afghans or Muslims. Ukraine is the second most powerful country in the USSR (the same USSR that controlled half of the planet). Ukrainians are 18% of the USSR. The country is strong, with great potential. Corruption and lawlessness have ravaged its economy over the past 30 years, but even so, they are hard to beat. They are ready to sacrifice themselves to the last - this is a big problem. These sacrifices are absolutely meaningless. Yes, they have been talking about the situation in this country for 12-15 years, they legally sell Nazi orders, medals, uniforms right in the markets, there are more than 5-6 Nazi battalions that freely travel around the country with Fascist flags. On May 9, veterans began to be banned from walking, St. George ribbons, orders are being torn off, monuments to Soviet soldiers are being demolished. They trample the flag of the victory banner, put up monuments to those who fought on the side of the fascists, Shukhevych, Bandera, call streets in their names, hold torchlight processions. Children are taught from textbooks that Russia is the enemy, they rewrite history so that Russia looks guilty there. In 14, more than 50 people were burned alive in a 4-storey building in Odessa, they were fans of Nazi formations, those who jumped out of windows were finished off with sticks and metal rods, and the police did not react to this, even the firefighters arrived an hour later, it would seem it was in the city center. Independent reporter? 🤣 You can obviously see that he was allowed to film there, because it was a mobilization point for volunteers. Not sure if Russia paid him, but this report is not the reality we see from other Russian mobilized soldiers. This is just another onesided story to spread Russian "well organized" mobilization. Read between the lines and you can hear, what he aims at.

I had the impression that nobody wanted to be enlisted before seeing this. Well, if you are mostly exposed to western media, you form an opinion based on what they present. I prefer not to watch evening news. It is totally one-sided without exception and on all TV channels I have access to in AU.
But even this. It’s an empty room..it doesn’t look like there is even the will to fight, there doesn’t seem to be a cohesive reason to fight, other than “those meany fascists”. Look, say what you want..but you invaded a sovereign nation, that’s on Russia. The reason isn’t fascism, or whatever. Putin simply wants to control the ports. I don’t think it’s anything more than that.

В Макеевском ПТУ тоже наверняка были чмобики с уникальным опытом войны в Чечне только этот опыт им не помог. Война в Украине и в Чечне это разные вещи. Вся Чечня 2 раза поместиться на территории Харьковской области. У чеченских ополченцев не было такого оружия и таких возможностей которые есть у ВСУ. У чеченцев вообще не было никаких самолетов и было всего пару десятков танков.

My second cousin lived in the village. In 99% of cases, men are ready to go to war, although it is very scary. Some who enlisted with my brother are already, unfortunately, dead. The motivation is basically the same - Russia is threatened, the war needs to be won. At the same time, most of them treat Ukrainians well, they just think that they went the wrong way.

You should interview those that are coming back from the war, injured or in resting assignments. Although this good journalism, it's still bias towards positive individuals that still don't comprehend the full reality of this war.
Nah they can't. Imagine interviewing the Soliders who openly admitted over phone calls to lining Ukrainian citizens and shooting them dead as they had no use for them and had to move on. Imagine that getting out!

You won't get unbiased returning soldier interviews as they are too afraid to speak the truth and frankly quite a number have committed crimes. For something closer to the truth I'd recommend Ukrainian journalist Volodymyr Zolkin (on KZhead) he tracks down dead soldiers and interviews POWs (not an interrogation), they are free to say whatever they want, he records the session, they get a phone call home and with their permission uploads the vid to a public Telegram site so family and friends can see how they are doing. This also proves that they are a POW as often the military drags their feet as POWs families receive a benefit but not if you are deemed MIA. This is also sadly why they are extremely slow to pick up their dead too 😕
