The Amazon rainforest has been reduced by about 17% since the 1970s. Cattle ranchers, loggers, and farmers are mostly to blame for the deforestation, but the demand driving them comes from all around the world. Brazil's economy depends on agriculture, especially beef and soy, which is grown on cleared land in the Amazon. Today, president Jair Bolsonaro, is weakening the environmental protections there in order to give agriculture more power. This came to a head when, in summer 2019, more than 30,000 wildfires burned in the Amazon, sparking worldwide outrage.

amazing documentry ...it inspired me to plant more trees. great job vox i feel proud that in india now we have a prime minister who knows how balance environment and development.
I can't stand the madness of that farmer's comments! Why are some people so narrow minded and focussed only on short-term profit? If the forest goes, you won't have a farm, you'll have a dessert - good job.

True. What makes us think that Earth doesn't have a way to "cleanse" itself.
If I was earth, I send them Mothership UFO behavior HP Supercells with large hail and many tornadoes to people who are destroying amazon and bolsonaro with them.

You are not a clever person. The main problem of Brazil is that you are too many, that's the reason why you are poor as well. If you would mate less, you could be less in number and live better as well. Than in Europe and North America has never been a place with such high biodiversity and the deforestation in developed countries is sounstainable, because trees are replaced, while in Brazil this doesen't happen. Dude that's extremely depressing.
I think in 2040 it will be semi arid. Only desert in 2060.
Just like what happened to Sahara. It was once a fertile area :(
that will never happen
mm.. I love dessert. but how can a dessert be a rainforest? (I’m joking)
My heart is braking when i watch this, save our environment this is all we have
The last time I flew over the Amazon (January 2020), I counted over 150 fires before I stopped counting, but I continued to see more. I thought 150 fires was already an outrage, but to know that up to 30,000 fires were burning below and around me further than my eye could see killed me inside. It makes me so angry that greedy men enjoy impunity in destroying such a beautiful and priceless ecosystem.
HAY QUE POBLAR LA PATAGONIA BRASILEROS BIENVENIDOS
Let's see how the ranchers and farmers sustain their business without fresh water, as soon as the Amazon can't cycle water through the forest anymore.
Google Earth is a depressing resource of information concerning this topic.
I guess the smartest ones will retire their way out of this, that's why they're not scared. To you think that farmer on the vid will live long enough to see this?
We have to filter oceans water
@@perobusmaximus Yes, we need to because nature can no longer sustain so many greedy humans. Destroying the Rainforest will only make things harder in the long run.
