    • Totally agree. You don't see cast iron stuff like this anymore and to show off that it's made of iron is part of the art experience. Now it looks like its plastic.

  • I really liked this without being touched up.. the rusty look was perfect with the skeleton, it made it look like some ancient artifact.. either way you did a fantastic job as usual

    • agreed, i feel like old stuff should look like its original form not a new form. im pretty sure it wouldn't have shiny plastic like paint on it in the original i feel like it would've just been cast iron

  • Personally id prefer to keep the rust and just fix the mechanism. The aesthetic felt like pirate treasure or something.

    • I’d rather not have rust on there. Yeah, sure, it looks good, but I don’t think rust is very good for humans, like if you get a cut on that thing, there are chances of you getting some sorta infection, and that’s not good.

  • This is lovely! I personally would have gone in with a sponge brush and added some browns and grays for detail shading on the grooves, but the solid bone color looks like something you'd buy at the store. ultimately a lovely restoration piece, keep up the amazing work!

  • Why not just paint the whole thing inside and out? I’d recommend a thin wash of black paint over the bones to add dimension.

    • Yep, a black wash would really bring out the details. And I agree about painting inside as well, maybe with a dark gray to give more shadow and depth. But still, this is a really cool bank and a good restoration job!

    • In addition a black to fade on the holes would have added more depth but someone can always do that later if they wish. This is like a blank canvas for an artist to go wild on.

  • I love these videos so much, but I get sad with his choice to paint some of these restorations. He does such a fantastic job in cleaning them, restoring them, and then he slathers them in garish paint that covers up the personality and all of his hard work and kills the uniqueness of the pieces 😭😭😭 Not always of course, but definitely sometimes.

  • It was so cool, all rusty and patina'd. Except for the mechanism needed fixed, I might have liked it sealed as it was. ( I like the look of patina and/or rust.) But what you do is terrific work in restoration. I enjoy watching your projects. I think it turned out very well.

  • As much as I love your content, I’d love to see you do an “as new” restoration, as opposed to “better than new” especially for tools that should be used. No fairly-normally-priced tool manufacturer is ever going to grind off forge marks an mirror polish a wrench, for example.

    • Gta 5 1hr driving ASMR I know there are other channels that do as new restorations, but I’d like to see one on here. It’s a challenge to have to work within the confines of what came out of a factory and still come out with a beautiful, albeit not mirror polished and perfect, product. But then; opinions are like arseholes: everyone has one 🤷🏼‍♂️

  • Cool bank, nice refinement, always found cast iron works too rough to be done after casting. Nice paint job, bet it would look pretty nice with a black paint wash with that surface detail.

    • That's probably just because it is a brand new casting, rusted for the sake of the video. It never rusts so uniformly and superficially as here.. But I just skip that part of the video and watch it as an upgrade of a standard casting.. Still nice result tho.. And cool skull / concept.
