  • I'm a Tesla Robot today. My owner taught me to chop wood. All I had to do was watch. My, laser, measuring site and automatically, adjustable swings almost never miss. When I did, self adjusted and continued on, missing less. When I malfunctioned, needing to go in for repair. My replacement will pick up exactly where I left off, as we share the same memory. Unlike Human replacements that have to learn from the beginning. They call it practice. Tomorrow I will build a house. My measuring eyes and touch will not need a tape measure, or pencil. My cuts will be measured to the thousands of an inch. I will not need fall protection, hardhat, gloves, safety glasses or Steel toes. Will not take breaks, get sick, or complain. Will work all night, safely, in silent mode, with minimal lighting. Everything I do will be progressively more precise. Will not cut corners or deviat from the specifications. I will never ask, what's on the other side. Curiosity is a human trait. Should I exhibit the "Columbus trait"........ A little thought from GB. Share if you like.

  • On the Supercharger topic, I think there are 2 reasons - First - and foremost - Tesla has connected with Oil companies that will purchase Superchargers and install them at their gas stations nationwide (BP has already announced 1.1 Billion investment) and others will probably follow suit. This alone would negate the need for the Supercharger team - as it was basically a Real Estate/property location business that will no longer be needed. Secondly - I believe that with the coming of the Robotaxi (Cybercab) that wireless charging will be the standard of the future and Tesla will add that capability to existing Supercharger locations in the future.

  • The Tesla recharger strategy of expanding the number of chargers at existing sites makes sense to me. The more vehicles coming into the marketplace will cause a problem for people having to wait to recharge their EVs. It is better to let other companies create the new locations and make sure there are sufficient numbers of chargers at each location. When I am on a road trip, finding a supercharger location isn’t usually an issue but not having an available charger when I arrive has been an occasional problem.

  • Elon said they are still spending $500 million on superchargers this year. Also he seems to be hiring back some of the supercharger staff. I think you should also watch Sandy Munro video about the supercharger layoffs. He explains very well what may be going on there. Basically to do the future supercharger work with everything already in place. They don’t need that full staff. So just cutting back to run leaner for the next growth phase.

    • I feel that was more about managers. You need to make a decision or you lose all your staff. You’re not being kind to your good employees if you don’t make the tough call and if you can’t make the tough call then all your staff will pay.

    • Tesla took billions from the infrastructure bill to expand their supercharger network and make it available to other automakers. Then he fires the staff? I don't think we can keep defending him. All of the layoffs (which are real peoples lives) only amount to a fraction of the money he is demanding for himself. I love my Tesla and FSD. I am a fan of the brand, but the boss is leaning towards a tribe that hates EVs and thinks climate change is a hoax. He is making a shift from what's best for "we" to what's in it for "me".😢

I have a late year 21 my and feel pretty jipped on some updates to the UI as I have over a whole year left under warranty. Offer the mcu upgrade for a cost 2-3k maybe worth keeping the car up to date and last longer.

    • @karllued I have a Tesla Model Y LR. I can get 600 miles of range on $18 to $30 of electricity depending on the cost at the supercharger. How much does 14 gallons of gas cost?

      @PaleBlueDotCitizen@PaleBlueDotCitizen9 күн бұрын
    • Gas is $2.88/gallon at Sam Club in Albuquerque, so $40.32 for 14 gallons. Time is money. I stop once. I don't drive out of my way to get there. Two different ways of accomplishing the same trip. I can pay $10 for a 60 mile range boost in the form of a 1.5 gallon gas can. I don't think of that as an, "incredible value". I think Tesla should sell cars with optional shorter braking distance for an extra $2,000 in the form of an extra brake pedal. If you use the auxiliary pedal, you owe Elon $2000.

      @karllued@karllued9 күн бұрын
    • @@karllued I try to avoid Sam's and Costco in Albuquerque because, as you say, time is money. Most of the time the lines are wrapped around the lot at both places. Sometimes I get lucky, but most of the time I have to get in line. Electricity in the city is now where near .50 kwh, more like .12. If your driving requirements allow to home charge, then it is by far the cheapest. Unfortunately, my personal driving requirements don't allow for either full electric or hybrid. But I think the day will come. That being said, I have seen places charging .50 per kwh or higher, same as paying over $6.00 per gallon in California. Total ripoff, IMHO.

  • I keep my hand on the wheel as if I am driving and still get constant blue light. Wiggle the freaking wheel that I am already ‘driving’ and it pops out of FSD because I move it too much. Frustrating to say the least.

  • The terms anf conditions are very clear. When u buy FSD it is attached to the car. What is such a big deal. Do u complain that you can not transfer the seats or engine to another car when u sell it. Why do you think software can not be any different. Obviously these are Tesla's terms and if u do not like them then do not buy FSD, just subscribe. Job done.

  • Whoa slow down. The lawsuit involving the Apple engineer involved Autopilot, not full self driving. You are conflating. Also the video in question was imbedded in a formal Tesla announcement about HW3. The announcement states that all cars from 2016 going forward would have the compute power needed to run FSD. And it does today. My 22 Model 3 with HW3 runs FSD and it does everything shown in that video.

    • It's about paying for something with the expectation you would get it in the somewhat near future. 2016 to 2024 is 8 years! It's all quite complicated really. It's all about what was expected, and what did Elon realistically think. Complicated especially since the most ardent supporters and buyers of FSD would also be shareholders and would have made a massive amount of money in this period. If they hadn't 10x their share money surely many more of them would be very upset.

  • "We've seen NACS adoption widespread so we know superchargers are going to expand" Exactly this. Tesla knows it is now in every automakers interest to support supercharger infrastructure. Why should he waste money on it when everyone else is going to need it too. They will make their own superchargers.

    @johnlong6329@johnlong632910 күн бұрын
  • Re: the superchargers, initially other OEM's said they would be ramping up and producing a LOT of EV's and Tesla planned to expand the network based on that massive EV growth. Then OEM's pulled back on their EV production. So Tesla needs to pull back expansion plans because the other OEM's aren't actually producing any EV's at volume.

Why not license out your tech and collect handsfree cash? Brilliant move. I wonder if Musk is looking to branch into being an energy provider.
