Oh yeah constant nydus is like every other game in diamond 4v4 and it's pretty effective if you're good at dropping changelings and what not at that level since it's hard to watch an entire 4v4 map constantly. I guess the thought is that you might as well nydus if you have to get a lair either way and then you can teleport in and out as many units as you want. Dropperlords seems more effective in some ways as most GMs would catch the nydus building on the minimap @@greenlitlleman

A huge part of it is no one plays like uThermal does, because numerically, his builds are almost always easily shut down or super hard-counterable, at least in theory. The real skill is in the execution. uThermal's builds are almost always nonsense to anyone playing against them, because who in their right mind would play them? So people basically end up getting zero practice against them. There's a huge difference in your reaction the first time you see a build, and the second time you see a build, especially in the GM+ level. And that "What the hell is even going on?" kind of chaos is a significant part of uThermal's style. There are absolutely pros with better micro, pros with better macro, pros who can basically read your mind, but when uThermal pulls the sc2 equivalent of Aoki's "Look Away" technique kzhead.info/sun/pKaolKaQoHyfgoU/bejne.html (link for example) complete with pro-level micro, macro, and reads, and you just get tilted super easily. The most important part, I think, is that sc2 isn't about _reactions_ it's about _predictions_ . The best way to defend a drop isn't to see the drop coming and then send your marines or stalkers or queens or whatever to go counter, it's to have marines or stalkers _intercept the drop_ and _already be in position to fight back_ .
@murphy540006 ай бұрын
To add to this, uThermal's build somewhat relies on his opponents being completely off-kilter the entire game, and you can very clearly see in the games that he loses that it's typically from him getting hard countered by someone who DOES get the read and understand what to do. Genuine pro-tier players would win against him significantly more often than you'd expect from his youtube videos - not that he's faking or sandbagging for cheap wins and hiding his losses from us, because he does show us plenty of losses and we get to SEE his MMR in every video - but the truth is that his playstyle simply isn't viable for tournament play. I'm sure he knows he's a monster on the ladder, but this is why he retired from professional play.
@ElysaraCh6 ай бұрын
To add to these other comments; its about the mindset as much as the situation. Keeping a level mind is crucial at these speeds of play as tilting or getting distracted is a great way to fumble the ball. Thermy’s learned a lot from his pro play. He’s said in the past getting tilted is one of the fastest ways for him to make mistakes and it shows that he’s really done work on relaxing during games. It’s much less stressful too just being an ape on ladder, which shows in how much he loves playing this game. Man absolutely knows he’s a ladder demon. Without a doubt.

I think mass archon would be interesting. A good, extremely gas heavy unit with short attack range. Some protoss shenanigans could occur with mass prism strats to deal with the range.
I was waiting for this, I love mass Hydra ! Great to see that BroodWars strats are still viable these days ;D
You need to call the series "powerhour thunderdome"
Love the thumbnail
Now Terrans will know how it feels to go against mass high DPS ranged units
what about a hydra burrow play? Do they heal the same as your roach burrow play?
happy birthday for the other day thermal~!
Another hour of enjoyment.
If u menaged to play this good Zerg and spread creep u officially a Zerg
Like the mono unit challenges of olde.
Im commenting before I even watch this, I frickin love you and your content lol 😂😂
42:24 Yeah Mark, too bad your build planning is going to waste in the 1 hour of building hydralisks video 😂
Are you not posting on your second channel anymore?
The surround at 12:20 Surround from 3 sides plus airdrop WHAAATTT? NO. NO! You are not allowed to do that!
1 hour?!? So lucky thank you Mark!
Christmas has come early!!!!!!!!
watching you play zerg is the most entertaining
amaizing!
Probably a better comparison for the cost of a Droplord is the cost of converting a ling into a baneling. It's conceivable that two extra banelings could make a difference in an engagement at that point in the game, but I wouldn't call it likely.
I was thinking "please marc, spread some creep" and then immedietly throws a couple creep tumors as a joke, I mean talk about some caster timing right there!
When are you goning to stream again? Love to see it man, looking forward to it \m/
15:29 I'm surprised he didn't missile turret the place
you joke about creep tumors, but it's for your own good. Being able to see the entire map is nice... oh well, one day.
"Creep? What's that?"
Dropping units while flying looks amazing.. I wish I can do that..
I've got a challenge idea: Creep spread =D maybe your units can't move off creep, or maybe no attacks until you've covered x% of the map in creep.
I think uThermal should try that lurker viper worm WITH 6 spines 😄
Too fun to watch
groovy!
God bless you uthermal. 👍✝️
