@@justins7933I imagine my au ra boy to be such a determined himbo like Kiryu Kazuma (from the Yakuza series & its memes) that he does everything he cares about with all his heart & dramatically, including running everywhere XD Also maybe since their body proportions are so exagerrated & they have painful extreme growth spurts, they run weirdly like raptors (cuz they look dino/reptillian kinda lol) They look cool & can act elegantly but the imperfections & extra dorkiness compared to most male races just makes them my fave :)

@@justins7933 legit I've been playing male Au Ra for 3 years now and either I walk when a ranged melee uses Peloton or I sprint while holding my weapon out. Never ever sprint without my weapons...that goofy animation reminds me of Crash Bandicoot each single time.
Fun fact about the male au ra pointing emote. You don't point directly at the target, you point out at an angle as if showing the target the door.

Yeah it's also funny that au ra was conceptualised around voidsent, not dragons. They used to look much more demonic in the concept art. Dang the concept art was cool! 😂

There were two early concept arts for them. The first were 100% draconic (they looked like Argonians with different horns), and the second were bascially succubi. They ended up going with something more human-looking than either early concept, but with the other elements being something kinda ambiguously reptilian or voidsent (but not actually being either)
As a Male Au Ra I stand completely by what you said regarding horns being connected with the face and the animations. I...I just want my Male Au Ra to have the same animations that the Male Mikotes have. Mainly because as soon as I'm not wearing stuff that is skin tight, everything starts clipping through everything.
The male au ra /blush emote is very animated & happy compared to the other boys' (seriously it's so cute I keep pausing at his shy smile 🥹), & they're the only boy to giggle evilly when they use /think - their /examineself & /laugh are also like cartoon villains' XD their emotes do a great job of diffusing the edge, especially the happy ones! Whenever he gets sad/smiles sadly he looks so sweet, like a facade had just dropped 🥺 One of my best experience ever is making a cute/hot m!au ra (face 1 has this Squirtle smile :> & hot /sneer), & then realizing how thicc their thighs are compared to almost all the girls & slenderer guys- I-😳

I play Au'ra because I like dragon girls. Very niche reason, though I fantasia'd to one literally the day HW launched - literally the day they first came out XD and i've never looked back. Usually the things I like aren't popular, so it's funny to see the race is second popular to catgirls. Shame no love for the scaly boys though; they are my favourite male race.
Male Au Ra are really cool but yeah their stereotype and animations kinda turn people off from doing that shit, but overall I think they are pretty cool, both male and female

I must be a rarer breed of fem ra player for I 1. Have a max height female au ra 2. Use the fin horns (which are like, the second rarest of the horn options from my experience) 3. even if they delink the faces from the horns, I won’t change a thing about my character. I have come to accept that 95% of the emotions she feels is “silently waiting for the moment to kill you.”

Been playing for a few years now, and my as-tall-as-they-get, big-horned female raen has been my fav girl. When I first made her, the big horns weren't that popular, everyone wanted the sleek backwards, or tsundere-faced forward facing horns. I refuse to acknowledge the flat horns...that face....*shudders* Anyway, nowadays, seeing so many wandering around with the big horns makes me happy, it really is the best face, you either get THE best RBF in the game (imo), or the kindest looking face. No in between. I picked RBF.
As a fellow big horned fem au'ra player ive also noticed more people using them. It makes my little happy to see them out there and the cool aesthetics some have :) Hands down my favorite face of all the races, just wish we could select the horns just how bunnies can pick their ears

The best part of playing Au Ra is when you play any class with a helmet/hat that has accessories on the sides and your horns inevitably clip straight through them. There are a few that don't and they actually complement the horns really nicely, but that's definitely the exception rather than the rule. No race is allowed to glam better than Hyur/Miqo'te apparently.

When i first got the game, I was looking through the races, and the Au Ra instantly grabbed me. I didn't even know they existed prior to playing, but I knew exactly what I was going to play. I only picked femRa because maleRa only have one good face option, and it's tied to the worse horns(face #3). I hope Square does eventually decouple the horns and face options.

I started as an Elezen but after trying a bunch of the races both male and female Au ra are my favorites to play and I go back and forth. When i play male Au ra i become actively more goofy and light hearted despite the serious appearance and when I play female Au ra I actually do more serious content and as such portray them as being more serious become most big fights I happen to be female au ra so more used to knowing that hitbox. Play what you enjoy and let any who complain keep shouting to no one.
Au Ra player, can confirm, unfathomably pissed that I can't make myself look like Kiryu while having horns that don't block my eyes in cutscenes.
I have Encyclopaedia Eorzea and it lists all the Au Ra tribes. Some of them are so wild and there's like 50 of them. The list reads like a shitpost.

My main is a Xaela lmao (shocking given my pfp I know) and I love her with my whole heart. I am forever a Au Ra best race proponent. (Although bunboys are giving them a run for their money…) I used to have a male Au Ra alt too, but I decided to swap him for a bunboy when EW hit (Shilugei was a DRG which is the same primary class as my main, Thistle is a MCH, so I have less class overlap in my alts now)

Funny enough, i started my FF14 journey as a male Au'ra , since i didn't want to go the classic catgirl route. But after a while, i switched to a male miqo'te because i hated how my character looked in cinematics. And i haven't looked back since. If only they didn't have these freaking clawed hands...

Au Ra are one of those uncomfortable design choices conceptually -- not exactly the appeal of an anime humanoid with reptilian bits on them, and not the full-on commitment of something like a dragonborn, lizardfolk, or argonian. Just these awkward cosplayers with scales glued on their body at odd areas.
They do have some awkwardness in terms of design but I suppose people kinda brushed it off because they think they're hot
For male au ra at least while they are just humanized/himbofied argonians, they have weird body proportions (like tiny waist, long-ish torso, huge unga bunga arms, extra thick thighs with spindly legs) that are humanly impossible & make them look cartoonier (which I really like) than most of the slenderer humanoid races
Yea if I'm going to give my WoL a bit of a redesign, I'm giving him *more scales*. He can become a crocodile or something instead 😅
