Can someone tell me how many venomous snakes are in this area of South Africa? There is just no way I could live there. How do people manage to ever feel safe and comfortable in their homes. That home just looks like they build a snake haven there. Someone make it make sense for that kind of landscaping with a million venomous living in the same area. But I do love watching your videos Jason. Always a pleasure.

In this particular area there are 4 lethal species of snake - Black Mamba, Mozambique Spitting Cobra, Boomslang and Vine Snake. And 3 which may require medical treatment - Night Adder, Stiletto Snake and Natal Black Snake. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👌🏻

No Green Mambas in that area? It amazes me how small a species range can be. I grew up 100km away near Pietermaritzburg and the snakes there were different. No mamba. A few night adders and rinkhals. Lots of brown water snakes, heralds and slug eaters.

thank you Jason for the info. I was barefoot & after dark in an overgrown garden (60 years ago) was bitten just above my big toe....the pain afterwards was excruciating. My leg swelled up to the knee & turned black. Dr at Addington Hospital said it was a Night Adder....??

Night adders are such pretty snakes. I kept some when I was a teenager. Fun fact is that they have the longest venom glands of any snakes, relative to body length.

Hi Jason. I stayed in the Westville area when I was in SA last year - July 2022. I was scared to visit Durban back then but now I’m terrified! Durban is way more lush than Jo’burg and Cape Town so it’s easy to believe it’s riddled with snakes. Your videos confirm that! Aaaaaaaagggghhhhhh!
