The Sachtler Tripod Sytem with the aktiv8 head is by far the most incredible tripod I have ever used. I've been using the Flowtech legs for over 3 years and still to this day nothing has come close.

It's crazy how the gear abyss still has a way of giving me a heart attack when I look up prices online.
I was looking for alternatives and found "neewer" on amazon for $158. It has the same quick height adjustment, but it's made of aluminum instead of carbon fiber. Its max load is also smaller at 22lb/10kg. As a total amateur, I think I'll start here and forget "investments" lol. Hopefully some Chinese company can produce a "knockoff" exceeding flowtech's own specifications. And hopefully that can happen well before I need to upgrade at all. Maybe then "free world" companies will stop charging exhorbitant fees for their "creativity" that was mostly spent on creative propaganda to justify their prices.
lmaooo yo i nearly broke my neck as i gasped when that Amazon link pulled up the product page
I upgraded all my heads to Sachtler from Manfrotto, best decision ever. In addition to the points in this video, Sachtler goes where you point it without kickback if it is dialed in correctly. So even with the smallest cameras, it looks like it was taken with a large setup because of the precise small movements. If you are an event streamer, there's nothing like having an easy and quick setup and breakdown. I also use Sachtler heads with Gitzo tripod legs. I use the 75mm bowl adapter.
🖤✌️ this is definitely a matter of diminishing returns. 4000% cost increase, versus 2% usability upgrade. Nah son. I don’t think anyone should cheap-out on this kind of equipment, obviously; but there are plenty of quality pieces for under $1k
Like which? Throw some names too if you're gonna make a statement like that.
Man, Armando, I LOVE your enthusiasm, my Brother. Your energy is Amazing. Fantastic tripod and review! Many Thanks 🙏🏾
Wow, this is amazing. Thank you for sharing Armando 🙏🏽
And they cost three of your children, their college funds, and a half pint of your blood. Not very affordable (@ $3,600) for really anyone unless you are making the big bucks. I really wish someone would make a knock-off that was more affordable. I love the tripod, it's just outrageously priced. A Manfroto for less would suffice.
Manfroto has some great options.
@@mondobytes but you said we should stop buying cheap shit. Every film maker has that Hollywood money under their bed🙄
Armando, it seems that you are a very rich guy.
@@RaduGheorghe23 lol he has that Peter McKinnon $700 knife drip
One good job pays for this
This tripod makes me excited to use a tripod again. Bought this same set up a year ago and never looked back. No more back problems, insane set up and configuration speed, and built in high hat.
A good tripod is often overlooked because of it's price but it's such a valuable piece of gear that can drastically change your workflow and your health too. Not to mention your putting your camera, lens, gear that cost thousands of dollars you want something strong, sturdy and reliable. It's definitely one of the best investments one can make.
Wow changing/switching from one to another was so quick 👍🏼 nice review Armando ✌🏼
Looks great. You've sold me. Now I just need the money.
Sachtler went all out to make sure people know it's back in stock, seen the Flowtech 75 legs a lot the past week. I ended with the ACE XL regular legs and tbh if you don't have the extra money, their other products are fantastic as well. BTW the Syrp system is great, look for it on sale though. Sad thing is Syrp cheaped out on some crucial fastening clips that have broken in less than a year.
Wow, I love all the features of this tripod for photography and videography. It’s not in my budget, but I will add it to my wishlist.
Lol i was just looking for a tripod that cost no more than 200 with some features like that. I love to see this Rolls-Royce of a tripod that makes me work more intelligent to buy it one day! Thanks for sharing 🤙🏼
I have the original setup like you do and LOVE IT, not going to upgrade but if I needed to - this is the one. Thanks for the video
yep, defo saving up for this
Armando, thanks for this great review. I noticed you use mirrorless with your Sachtler. I have used the Ace system a decade back and had to use adaptors for my Panasonic GH and Nikon D850 then. Has Sachtler introduced in-house mounts for current mirrorless cameras with ARCA SWISS Plates? Thanks for your time.
What’s the difference between mid spreader and ground spreader when talking about tripods ? I’ve been looking at this tripods for a while but not sure the benefit of one over the other ! With both I can open the tripod legs all the way to the floor ?
I got the very same one. Great stuff!
Best tripod out there! Use it everyday 🙏🏼
Thanks Armando. Great advice for those of us who are less savvy.
Id love to know what the most compact heavy duty tripod out there for sliders because I wanna be able to put my tripod in a hard pelican case with some other gear incuding a sliderONE pro by Edelkrone and some adapters but cant seem to find a decent tripod that isnt wobbly but also can fit.
How are these tripod legs in sand? I heard a guy who got sand in one of the legs and it got stuck. Is there a warranty/seal for those kind of things or how does it work? I'm in the beginning of my career so I'm not able to make this investment yet. But hopefully I will in a near future. Thanks for the review Armando!
looks amazing for sure. 👍
Thank you about this great review.. can i use the head with Sachtler System FSB 4 Fluid Head with Sideload Plate, Flowtech 75 Carbon Fiber Tripod with Mid-Level Spreader and Rubber Feet
That's AWESOME
Is that a magic carpet tripod Armando, what model? Do you like it? Thanks
Used this exact set of sticks for the past 10 months. Been loving them. Quick question which quick release system are you using for your tripod? We have the version with the touch and go plate and I’m not a big fan because I have to unscrew the plate to go from sticks to gimbal which makes the speed of the system kind of pointless
It depends on what I'm doing, I use the Kondor Blue baseplate most of the time with their dovetail. There's also a new product that I think you'll like from Kondor Blue coming soon, but not sure I can talk about it yet so stay tuned :)
Can I use this for photography? Like attach a ball head on it?
Clearly a pro tool with a pro pricetag. I wish I was there.
Best tripod ever. Full stop. It’s so easy to use on the go. I use it outdoors in plantations. It’s a workhorse!
Just found this channel. This video is awesome.
I like the speedlock 75's more than this bulky thing. Probably this is more durable and has ability to get low, but quick snapping each leg is not a new thing. Speedlocks are also 1.5 kg lighter making them better for travel. Also I prefer the build quality of the older FSB heads than the Aktiv. Aktivs have more plastic parts to them that can fail, especially the latch.
These legs are dope. I got them and it's the best tripod you can get. But the price of active head is just too much for me. I got FSB8 used :).
Love mine. Infinitely faster and more efficient on set. Pricey, it stung a bit! Worth it IMO.
So, whats the closest tripod I can get with some of these features...but without that price tag?
I see you have a Monogram Console on your desk, can you please share your opinion between that and Loupedeck CT? I’m gonna buy one or the other but I’m not really sure which one to get, can I please have a solid suggestion? Thank you, I love your work 🙏 super helpful every time.
They're both great, I tend to like the Monogram more because of it's modularity but also response is faster and smoother. I do like the Loupedeck CT because of it's size and ease of use. The Monogram has BIG buttons where the CT feels more integrated with the keyboard. Like I said both are great just depends what you prefer more.
@@mondobytes thank you so much!
Been looking at getting this All week and now this video makes me really want to pull the trigger. Also, what slider is that you’re using?
You'll love it! This is the slider I was using: bhpho.to/3UCzflc
anyone know what that is , the boom arm hes using at 5:01 ?
Yea the quick release is game changing.
I can never go back
We have one and the 100. Great tripods
Finally got one.. aktiv8t w/ flowtech 75 used off Adorama, saved about 1k and I'm not looking back. Love it more than my cartoni!
Congrats!!
Yeeeaahhh I'm poor and can't afford $3600 bucks for a tripod whew ! Maybe one day! My Manfrotto 502's have been great for me. But this is a bad ass tripod.
can you link to the Tripod-Slider Adapter? cool product, great system, excellent review. time is money and these products are well worth it for the pro user. thanks for the great demo.
Thanks, the adapter is linked in description.
I’m looking for the part that goes under the slider; only the part that mounts on top is linked.
I bought the flowtech 2 years ago. I don’t think the aktiv head was released yet during that time? Has the flowtech ever came out with revised version? Does the flowtech I have work with aktiv head? I read about having to send in your flowtech to sachtler to upgrade the bowl or something in order for it to work with aktiv.
The Aktiv was released literally 2 years ago around this time. My understanding is that you do need to send it in because I’ve been looking into sending my other one in because the Aktiv head is just so good!
@@mondobytes oh! Then I have no idea if mine was the “new” version during the time I bought it as I purchased tripod only without the head. Do they have comparison photos of the “old” and “new”?
Sooo. . . what happened to the NAMES and/or MODEL NUMBERS of the gear featured in this system???
Couldn’t have said it better myself. I’ve beaten the crap out of my Flowtech sticks and they’re still going strong. Pretty sure they’ll last longer than I do in this field. 😂
there is a fsb8 mk2 just released
Yeah this is by far the best tripod ever… and it’s a buy once, have forever product…
ok I'am on board
Can you please let me know what slider that is you are showing? Is there one that is part of this system?
It’s a Syrp slider
@@mondobytes Thank you. I like the size of it. Are you happy with it?
@@thomasmiller4365 I love mine! It’s such a pleasure to use, feels like I’m cheating. Yes it’s pricey but worth it as I plan to use this forever
Should I go mid level spreader or ground spreader?
Depends how you’re going to use it
nice tech!
The biggest advantage of this tripod is that in a sense it saves you from having to buy a high hat. With most other tripods you can't get low enough to the ground & hence have to buy a separate high hat in addition to a tripod, whereas with this, for most use cases, it would get you sufficiently low enough.
Well, on a positive note, I can appreciate the design.
Is there a similar budget version?
YC Onion, coming out this year. Made in China though
Nice tripod system, however too rich for me.
HOLY crap $1700, I'm out!
We were using a fully rigged Zcam e2s6 which weigh about 6kg on the Peak Design CF tripod and it dropped twice destroying one lens. Then we invested on the 75mm version with Ace XL fluid head and find out that the fluid head is not that good, though we got it at discount price. Finally, we dropped a ton of money into the 100mm version with the Aktiv10 and we are still waiting for that beast to show up.
Conclusion: If you make Indie to mid-budget productions then this tripod is a no Brainerd If you are a solo filmmaker or on indie to budget sets, don't get this Tripod the price won't be justified since it's worth like 3-4 jobs 😉
Bro if only they this setup existed in a more compact version!
Agreed, I'd love a more travel friendly version that's half the size. Don't think you'd be able to use the head but at least the legs would be awesome even if meant having a non removeable head.
You had me until I saw the price. I'm all for not going cheap...but this costs as much as my A7Siii. Sorry, this video isn't meant for me apparently.
Same
Until you see 100mm version, cost as much as fx6 lol and I got it
NEED :D
What Slider is that my man? I got the same Sachtler System, but putting a slider just on the ballhead made the ballhead slip out of position (when he is far off the right or left), just too much weight. Seems that this adapter can handle it tho, great discovery. Thanks for sharing
This is the slider I was using: bhpho.to/3UCzflc and this is the adapter: bhpho.to/3TCILU6
@@mondobytes Absolutely amazing Tripod OmG. Can you gift your old tripod to a fan of yours in Africa? So in need of one 😩
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Your joke is unnecessary and uncalled for
Armando is going to make me buy something i don't need yet. JK but i am in the market for a tripod and video fluid head. I want something i can travel with.
when I see the price...
god i know these higher end tripods arent cheap but i cant go over the 1500 mark on a tripod i think thats way to far fetched even though theres a lot to offer that you cant get exactly on others with this one but i also see the benefit where this thing will literally last you for life
Me: *Chilling with the Walmart onn. Tripod😂*
Buy once, cry once.. this product fits that mold 😭
Can't wait until Neewer or Godox start making tripods.
Tripods like this are convenient.
Lol some people are like ... This is almost the same price as a a7siii ... We rich
$3,500 ?! what the hell
Great tripod but if you’re starting off their are better pieces of gear you need to acquire first before an expensive tripod
You should've seen my face when I saw a comma in the price tag
You can get an FSB 6 with Speedlock 75's for same price as just those new shiny legs. Also has quick setup time, arguably better built head than the aktiv's as well. Don't fall for KZheadr advertising, save money / buy used gear / old gear.
maybe start with the name and price of the product. bare minimum the name so i can skip the rest of the video and look it up because thats easily top 2 most important things.
I spit my orange juice all over the floor when I saw the price.
I have rent this tripod funds but if you would like to give the gear in the video to me I will be greatly appreciate it.
Dude really
I do professional work…..no way in hell will I pay over $3K for a tripod……nah fam, got me f**ked up
You know if being a PRO requires buying $3K tripods, bush or not…..then you’re right, I ain’t and glad I’m not because that’s is as dumb as it gets. No one I work with, and they’re old school pros, have or own a $3K tripod…..they have rigged $500 video tripods and they make it work every time. Go ahead and get yourself a $3K tripod For Christmas dude, you’ve been a good dude this year.
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h yeah man that’s me and my first daughter, got two and trust me, I still buy the good stuff, I’m yet to own a manfrotto tripod……I helped a group of video pros from time to time with whatever project they have, I’m more photo than video but I like learning…..these guys aren’t young man, they’re in their 50s and I’m not sure what brand their tripods are but I know they’re rugged video tripods and one of them told me they were $500 and that’s about the only cheap thing they have, they’re rocking RED, some Canon Cinema ones and all the bells and wissles for video production…..I never seen them struggle with them tripods, they make it work……now I’m with you in the sense that when it comes to tripods, you do get what you pay for…..but $3K is a bit too much for something that shouldn’t be a struggle, that’s all I’m saying.
Maybe when I win the lottery.
My brain nearly exploded when I saw this was WELL above $800
Nice tripod system Armando. 25 LBS ? This is not a very high duty rating for this much money.
The tripod itself can hold 44lbs, the Aktiv8 head is rated at 26.5lbs. If you need to support more weight you can go with a different head setup.
No cap it’s an amazing tripod but for almost 3000, I would invest that in lenses for starters. Great video man I was sold
You’re Elon in KZhead world.
0:13 I thought the whole point of buying quality (expensive!) gear was to NOT have to keep looking for new gear.
You missed the whole point, this is literally a follow up review of the same tripod.
@@mondobytes Ahhh. So when you said "I've been wanting to get a new set of tripod legs", you meant "I had been wanting to get a new set of tripod legs", ie referring to the time when you bought them.
@@Andybaby No, when I said "So I've been wanting to get a new set of tripod legs" I mean I want another (in addition) so 3 years later I'm buying the same legs because they're the best.
@@mondobytes Ahhhhh, lol, ok, ok, gotcha. thanks for clarifying! :)
1,700 SHEEEESH
The worse part is that it is not compatible with anything else like standard bowl mounts. Can't use it on a Dana Dolly or other tripods. You are limited to buying even more expensive gear from the same manufacturer. There is a reason why things are standardized. This is just stupid.
Guys buy the manfrotto 608 it does 0-18lbs and is really smooth. You can level it as well and buy the sachtler legs separately. Easy.
Not as fast, if you are already getting the legs, might as well the new fluid head
$3,823.75. I took a deep breath because im living Turkey...
Too expensive
Great tripod but the price is way too high
Or it's your budget way too low. I can buy this within 3 filming jobs and I'm just an average guy
Did you buy this or did they give it to you? Telling us to stop buying cheap sht when you’re being gifted a 3k tripod is bs. I usually trust your word on gear but cmon dude. Great video I’d have hit purchase if this was remotely affordable. Seeing that quick release design just set everyone with day job money up for heartbreak when we get to the price 😂
LOL I wish they gifted me a $3,000 tripod that would be nice!
@@mondobytes you spent $3500 on this? we went to bh just to test it out, i do love it. someone's gotta make a knock off tho lol
@@SHVWNCOOPER YC Onion from China already made it but I won't trust their reliability. If it breaks in 2-3 years, you might as well just get a Sachtler and last for a lifetime/ 10 years atleast

Stop buying cheap 🤒
WTF 😳😳😳 $4000 wow it Comes with Nikon Sony or Canon Camera ?? 😂😂😂
This is the worse tech in a tripod. Pretty cheap once it is used. Cable brakes like a bicycle. Tiny plastic squares with a rubber tap as brake pads. All plastic parts. Chea cheap
But it is plastic
Carbon Fiber
@@mondobytes I mean the red locks, the locks on the head, aren't they all plastic?
@@user-zv7lm8uk7h Still, overpriced, unnecessary sticks you can get same or better for much less.
Yeah the plastic parts on the legs is cheap and fractures easily. Go for the FSB head as the Aktiv are horribly unreliable. It's cheap Vitec nowadays, not the Sachtler of old.
Not every blogger has the kind of cash for Sachtler...
