Here it is, our review of the all-new Range Rover!
The Range Rover has always been seen as pretty much the pinnacle of British SUV craftsmanship (no offence, Bentley Bentayga…), but the question is, does the latest generation live up to the quality of the last iteration?
Well, it’s time to find out! Mat’s joined forces with Yianni to put the new Range through its paces. In terms of cost, it starts from around £99,000, jumping all the way up to £180,000 - so what do you get for your money?
Well starting with the design, it’s so much smoother and sleeker than before. From the front through to the back, this is one SUV that’s done away with the creases and curves, but one which thankfully remains unmistakably a Range Rover! Around the back, you’ll find hidden lights which are integrated into the car, along with flush door handles on either side and an all-new grille design up front.
The quality continues on the inside, too. Sure, it’s maybe not as luxurious as a Bentayga, but it’s still built to a high quality! The chairs are super comfy, and there is a whole load of storage to be found throughout the cabin. You get a big infotainment screen up front coupled with some physical climate control buttons, and of course, it comes with a digital dial display.
In terms of engines, there are a number of petrol and diesel options to choose from, with the range-topper being a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 that can deliver 530hp!
So what do you think? It doesn’t come cheap, but has the new Range Rover reclaimed its SUV crown? You’ll have to stick with Mat and Yianni to see for yourself!

    • How much aftermarket product does the screen look like? If the thief comes, they can steal and escape in 2 minutes. Embedded screens look better quality.they can use the design from the e series as an example

  • Yianni is probably the type of guy who doesn't pay attention when he's taking delivery of his cars. He's just like "yeah sure, I know..." and then drives of wondering how to open his sunroof. But I feel like we need more of this type of reviews. Great fun!

  • The claimed acceleration time is with the smaller factory wheels. Adding larger rims effectively gears up a car making it slower. Had the wheels been the stock size. You likely would have gotten much closer to the claimed 5.8s.

  • The larger diameter wheels will have impacted the acceleration time - you should compare to a standard RR to see how much.

  • If I had to guess, the larger rims, thus larger overall diameter of the wheel, might have affected the acceleration. Both in weight and final drive ratio being put to the ground.

  • As a range rover sport 2020 owner, i ve never understood the complaints about the climate controls, which are super easy to figure out, and it s the same for the buttons on the steering wheel, no problems there either. Whenever i hear Mat say these things i can t help but think he's complaining just to say something negative, because they are not real inconvinences

    • Yeah for u are super easy because u drive it everyday and its yours, but if u just get in the car of course they are not easy to figure out and will take u lot of time. I drove my friend car for 3 days because my was in the service and for 3 days i barely understood how his climate system works.

  • This was such a stellar review of the Range Rover... Astonishing job Matt, you always deliver...!!! However, having an extra pair of eyes made this episode special... I've always loved the energy both of you have in your drag races... And this made it even more sense as Yianni is a regular driver like most of us, and seeing him experiencing the things you keep saying made it hit home... Case in point, the roundabout turn with the rear wheels turning... Loved it!! I also loved seeing you being chauffeured by Yianni again, I remember you being in the back seat while he raced in a drag race in a BMW I reckon...   • From the various reviews I've seen on both the RRs and the BBs, I'd definitely choose the Range Rover. I've actually seen one video where they ran the same course and obstacles and the RR just won out on all categories. My primary reason would be to have a nice, comfortable interior for long drives, but have that off-road capability, if I wanted to veer onto some snow, mud, or sandy areas, and with that the Range Rover just seems the better choice.

  • If only Range Rover’s engineers were allowed to make stuff as great as the exterior design guys. They’ve always looked great for the era they’re released in. However they’re also always far behind the reliability of most other vehicles.

  • Here in the Texas, we just bought a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L Overland package and I think the Summit Reserve is the top-of-the-line version. I actually think this is comparable to the Range Rover. Of course, not quite as nice but, dollar for dollar, more less the same. Why not do a comparison video on those 2 head-to-head? That would be a great video? and don't forget to do the off-road stuff too!

  • I believe Urban customise cars before delivery - so this potentially isn't quite a stock car. So I may be doing JLR a disservice but the interior looks a little like it's trying too hard to be cooly minimalist and doesn't quite come together for me and the outside looks like when you're playing a video game and a scene is presented before the assets have all fully loaded. Not a fan of the aesthetics at all. Other than that, it's probably a very nice car if it's your thing.

  • One thing you didn't mention. Where is the Speed Dial button to the AA? Something I believe is finally standard on all Land Rover products now. I would also be really annoyed - if I'd spent my own money - on the lousy door alignment: see 9 min 25 to 9 min 40. Basic stuff and I wouldn't accept that. Might have been damaged of course and poorly repaired?
