Hi Amy, great question! Shoes offer a number of benefits. Here's a few: They help improve traction with the pool floor allowing for safe transition from one move to the next. Although buoyancy reduces impact, there is still joint stress; for those that have joint pain, shoes cushion the landing. They increase surface area of the foot; this means greater resistance when moving against the water.
