    • I did this twice in classical by accident and won both games. Both times my opponents looked annoyed and rushed through their opening and I just got a winning position early. He might be to something.

    • One thing I've learned from these high level chess players is it's actually better endgame to be aggressive with the king and keep him hugging your pieces. On back row alone he's dead.

  • I think that the reason Magnus spent so much time in the first move, is not being late, but seeing a mate in 347 moves unless he plays symmetrically.

  • The way the king tiered and staggered its position to defend those pawns was absolutely sensational - if stockfish did that I'd frown disapprovingly at the dominant superiority of the top bot but Magnus, apparently a human man, did it. In 3 f-ing minutes... No wait 2 and a half. Fuck.

    • LOL, black is not obligated to take KxB. Black rook goes to g2 and deliver check, then the rook will take the bishop and not with the king. Obviously Hikaru saw that.

  • Today’s stare was very pure and authentic. An 8.334 / 10 would serve it well (bonus 0.442 points for alternate location)
