Dimon's use of flak troopers was insane

Dimon read the situations perfectly and made the exact right call every single round (e.g. crushing his own MCV to get an economic lead to tech up, seeing Pika was trying to spam turrets and play the longer game). Very impressive to see!

Never thought infantry could be used with such potency, so used to infantry being limited to the first 5 minutes of the game that I'm really suprised. Excellent and expected performance by Dimon once again
I play Allies a lot but seeing the Allies devastated at the hands of Dimon is something I can bear to watch. Hands down the best Soviet Union player.

@@ih8california991 well I'm not very sure about Soviets being broken but yeah with a better economy and the fact that they can produce units faster, yeah Soviets are so damn good. Nothing quite beats a horde of Allied Mirage Tanks tho

@@ih8california991 Yeah 😆 if by broken you mean a weakest faction in the game then yes Soviets are the weakest faction in all RA3 and allies is the strongest of 3 of them, plus most versatile and have a lot of imba units and abilities. In the uprising addon, the gap between them is even greater - there the allies have a tech that makes other factions strong as Indians against the British colonists. FutureTank X-1, Cryo Legionnaire, Pacifier FAV, Harbinger gunship - the last of the list is a completely overpowered thing. Dimon's victory over his opponent only says that he is a good player and not that the Soviet overpowered in fact they are the weakest link that lack many critical things like strong airforce, spies that can buy enemy vehicles, stronger and longer ranged defense and freeze ray etc. that the allies have

Question regarding RA3 in general: Would it ever be useful for a Soviet player with two refineries in close proximity to each other to preemptively build a replacement harvester, park it between the two refineries, and put it into shield mode until one of the harvesters at the refineries gets killed? I guess the danger then, would be the enemy negating your investment and just going for the refinery kill.
A Soviet harvester costs 1400 credits, for that price you could afford a Bullfrog (900 credits) and a Flak Trooper (400), or be about halfway there in being able to afford a second Bullfrog. While yes, it would be nice to be able to negate the kill of the harvester, that's a reactive measure, whereas having units that can punish the attacker and possibly scare them away is a more active form of defense. It's a matter of fixing the damage vs preventing the damage.
Its a good thought but i think to expensive like rubra said. And whatever kills your harvester might also have a small chance to kill the backup shield harvester.
The graphic in this video is super good unlike the previous video, but Sebert is the same amazing

Pika doing not so great this time. But really, having to face this kind of play from Dimon is not an easy task.

I feel like the last game would be an example of the very few times when a Sputnik would be useful. Use a Twinblade to airlift a Sputnik over the ridge to secure a water expansion in the south east. After all, Dimon did at least have a long line of captured buildings which would let him know of any inbound hostiles towards a potential cheeky expansion. That said, absolutely brilliant plays either way. I liked seeing how Pika's play evolved to try to counter Dimon's counterplays.

As far as I know, Pika used to link his name to the "Pikachu" character from "Pokemon" series (I hope I am not wrong, but this is what I remember)
@@OneSybert The number 4 closely resembles the Cyrillic letter "Ч,ч" in certain scripts and fonts. That letter produces a /(t)ʃ/ sound like the "ch" in punCH or CHeck. Don't know if this is related to that but hope it helps in any way that it can.

There are some minor graphical changes in the 1.12.6 community patch: www.gamereplays.org/community/index.php?showtopic=1004431 But those are really minor, the game is mostly untouched.

Most likely. If you follow Dimon's channel, the strats that he's using are something fairly recent. Crushing mcv for economic boost, flak troopers over bullfrogs, actually utilizing static defenses, late game tesla troopers, making a crusher then going for proxy attacks with barracks/war factory/naval yard for quick reinforcements coupled with aggressively placed static defenses like tesla coils/flak cannons. Although MIGS have been utilized for some time already, I remember further back where people woild purely rely on only the bullfrog for anti air. Heck, even concsripts weren't a thing way back. The typical soviet comp back then was massing hammer tanks, bullfrogs and twin blades.

@@7jm And? What's your point? Anyone who plays/follows competetive ra3 knows that already. What's the complaint here? Is it that Dimon chose and allied favorrd map? What's the problem there? Dimon clearly chose that map with a specific strategy in mind, and as we watch him execute his gameplay on FI, we can all see how overwhelmingly dominating he was on that game. So again, I really don't see why you would have an issue with him choosing FI.

Somebody tell Pika that Athena cannons are a thing and to stop spamming turrets vs hammer tanks.
Athena requires Max Clearance which cost 3k of cash and ties up build queue for a good 1 minute. And he must also spend additional 1k4 to get a single athena. That's a hard sell for only 2 refs economy, especially when he also need to build turrets and cryos to stall out the tanks. I really feel for Pika in that last game, doing everything correctly and still come out short because there's someone else who is simply better than you.
