  • Thank you for bringing up Ryan White. He has been a role model since both of my parents were diagnosed HIV positive. This was in 1988. I was 7 years old. This was my father was diagnosed. My mother was diagnosed in 1990. I was 9 years old, an day father had just passed away. After my mother was diagnosed in April of 1991, I was sent from NYC to my aunt and uncle (which I am so grateful) to Texas. In the 6th grade, my beautiful science teacher Mrs. Keel asked me to please explain to my peers how HIV was actually transmitted. The reason for this was that students would constantly me if I had HIV, which I didn't. So there I was, 12 years old, discussing how HIV was transmitted. This does not even remotely compare to what Ryan White and his family went through. Sending his family so much love 💘

      @prettybuff75@prettybuff752 жыл бұрын
    • @@SL-qu6zh Truth is, on-screen, they were all great. Even Phoebe I loved my reservations about the actress notwithstanding. With Shannen's conflict, a full detailed coherent picture of exactly what went on has never really emerged, as with 90210, but Shannen was definitely a problem on many levels and was always going to get fired if she kept on with it, but with the personality clashes , on 90210 you also had Jennie Garth who was alleged to be a **** (including even admitted by herself to some extent) ...and on Charmed, you had Alyssa Milano who was alleged to be possibly even more a **** , with Rose making fresh recent startling comments on that issue. What I'm saying is, the full Shannen situation pros cons and culpability was murky, especially on Charmed. Ultimately almost everyone is replaceable, the show went on in both cases, and both her replacements were at least pretty good. Tiffany was probably great.

You don’t know how much it means to me that you were brave and didn’t let what others thought to dictate your View. Unfortunately people’s perception of what it means to be hiv+ and even undetectable hasn’t changed much and the stigma is still very much so there in my experience living with HIV. Nonetheless again I want to thank you for being on Ryan’s side back when others wouldn’t, it’s hard as an adult I can’t imagine what it would be like as kid or teenager. • I actually met Alyssa Milano when we were kids. I think we were both 12 or 13 at the time. not so sure. but it was right after the movie Commando, which she was in, came out. Who's the boss? I think had just started early that year. But she was doing these mall tours, going around the country signing autographs, meeting fans. I didn't know she was going to be at the mall, my family and I were there shopping and we come across this open area where they had set up a stage. there was a black curtain behind it. so we couldn't see what was going on as we approached the stage. they had a table set up on the stage and stairs on both sides to allow fans to go up to the table and meet Alyssa. when we got close enough, there was a sign that said "come meet Alyssa Milano star of Who's the Boss and Commando. the event was already over. the fans were gone, a few were still lingering. And there she was sitting behind the table looking bored as hell. she was tapping her fingers on the table. she was waiting until it was time to leave. I remember telling my dad "look, it's the girl from the movie we saw". She must have heard me but she looked up and she had this huge smile on her face. She then started to wave me and my little brother to come over. My brother must have been around 4 at the time. She never stopped smiling. she tried finding more of the 8 x 10 photos but they had run out. there was nothing to sign with as well. no cameras. ugh. But she started asking us questions. where we were from? how old we were? what grades we were in? she was surprised that we were the same age. she asked if I saw Commando and I told her yes and she asked if I like it and I said yes again. then she go up and went around the table and started hugging my brother and pinching his cheeks. she called him "chubby cheeks". which we continued to call him for several more years. anyway, she just stood there talking to us and apologizing for not having anything to sign and then one of the "handlers" started to practically order her around. they needed to leave. they were waiting for her. she looked annoyed by them. she then said she had to leave that it was fun talking. she pinched my brothers cheeks again and then out of nowhere she just hugged me and gave me a little peck on the cheek and said bye. she was still waving bye at us as she disappeared through a maintenance door nearby. to this day I still wish we had at least gotten an autograph from her. it was just our luck. same thing happened several months later at the same mall. Alfonso Ribeiro showed up there, but this time the event was still going, only the lines were huge. he was there mainly because of Silver Spoons and some Pepsi think promotion thing. who would have known that one day he would become Carlton Banks.
