    • haha... been there, and its because they know they speak out of negativity to begin with, in which case you knew that, and you say to yourself; why am I talking to this person?

  • I sometimes react like "hey, you win. now can we have a real, meaningful conversation?" when i feel people are just trying to convince me they're right, without paying attention to what im saying. its a good way to disarm someone, but it has the downside that if you're speaking with a particularly vicious individual, they can take advantage and just roll over you, significantly hurting your ego in the process. i believe i developed this, along with absurdist humour, as a defense mechanism, to cope with having an impulsive, and somewhat abusive mother, who would constantly lash out at people irrationally.
