A very informative video (From a brave man driving on an almost empty tank in that traffic 😊)
Another thing to keep in mind. When you slow down in adaptive cruise control, if the car in front of you changes lanes or traffic speeds up quickly your vehicle will accelerate rapidly if there is a significant difference between the speed you were slowed down to and the speed you have set on the cruise control. You may not want to take off that rapidly, so you need to be alert for such sudden changes by the vehicle in front of you.
An EXCELLENT lesson, thank you. I just jumped from my '95 Jeep (just wrecked) to a 2023 Santa Fe rental. I'm such a novice about 21st C. autos, I needed to ask the clerk how to start the car. So a lot is still a mystery. You are a fabulous teacher!
This feature is great. It's basically self-driving on long freeway trips. It won't change lanes or exit for you but it does keep the speed and keep you in the lane well.
It changes lanes on the 2023 Palisade.
I have a 2024 Palisade Calligraphy and it doesn’t change lanes…
Best video for using Cruise Control and Lane Assist. Thank you for taking the time to do this!! (Just got a 2024 Tucson, and I was driving a 2005 Honda accord - so a steep learning curve that you made easier!!)
Thank you for the very detailed video. I just got a 2023 Kona, and I was questioning myself how all this works!!!
Thanks for the excellent video. Hope you will make many more on the Tucson's controls. I have just received our new one and can't believe the poor indexing in the manuals.
This is the best and most informative video on this subject i could find on youtube. Thanks. I have ordered a Kia Sportage with these features
Very clear video. I understand my vehicle because of this Covers all of that is needed without diverging into prior years or other trivia not relivant to the owner of a new vehicle
Great video, I just bought a 2023 Hyundai Tucson 230 self charging hybrid ultimate top spec in UK with these functions, so you have helped me understand how to use them, thank you and well done
I'm sure I could have figured this out by myself, but I'm lazy. Thanks for the video!
So helpful!! Especially the info about the sunset/sunrise & the camera ... just got a 2023 Tucson & the super quick explanation the salesman gave me did not sink in at all. Thanks!!!!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the great info. It's a lot easier to understand these functions by watching you demonstrate! I just bought a 2024 Hyundai palisade.. and started using some features. Def gonna use these features a lot!
Very informative. Now I know what those buttons on the steering wheel are for! Thanks!
I’ve got my new Hyundai today .thank you so much for the video ..is very helpful as I am learning how to use the new control
best explanation I have seen, and I've watched many videos on this. Thank you!
This feature and the Auto hold- love it! Auto hold is so good for red lights and drive-through restaurants any sort of stopping when not actually parking
Thank you so much for this video. I took delivery of my Hyundai Ioniq 5 today and being a man, refuse to read the instruction manual! The various settings on the steering wheel confused the hell out of me, but now after just 12 minutes watching your video, I am an expert!
If you hold the up, down increase , decrease for a couple seconds it will increase or decrease speed by 5mph increments
Great tip
10kph in Canada
Thx u!
Thank you! This is still helpful for a 2023 sonata
One of the best explanations
Wow, Excellent job! This is the first video that totally explains how to use the Hyundai Cruise control and other related goodies. Other videos list the features. but don't even mention how to disable the cruise. I have a 2023 Ioniq 5, but the cruise works the same.
Thanks so much! I have a 2023 Santa Fe and my salesman spent over an hour going through the features on my dash, but I’d forgotten how to engage the cruise control, and had no idea which buttons they were. This was a great refresher, now that I’ve gotten used to some of the other features. My old Santa Fe was a 2006, a lot has changed!
Glad it helped, thank you for watching!
O
Great info and demonstration of the Hyundai intelligent systems. The Hyundai is a car I am looking at buying in the coming days and weeks and your info helps me before I even test drive the car.
A very useful presentation - I just bought an Ioniq 5!!
Awesome video. Thanks for making this I pick up my new Elantra hybrid limited this Monday!!
Thanks for watching and congrats on your new car!
Great and informative video. One comment about the end of the video. You said drivers should be more vigilant in fog, rain, snow, etc. These and other conditions are when drivers should NEVER use cruise control of any kind, no matter how smart it is. No way is this car “smart” enough to immediately enough to override driver settings and disable acceleration the instant you start hydroplaning or skidding in snow. The system is not smart enough to compensate for fog and reduce the speed accordingly.
Great demonstration. Thank you
Wow… Thanks so much. This really helped me out.
Very helpful video Thank you for sharing 👏
thanks for all the good tips!
Thanks, this is really helpful.
awesome video, thank you.
Thanks the video really helped.
Hello. Very helpful video. I am from Kazakhstan and bought a new Tucson. This video helped me understand how to use the system.
Thank you very much for watching, enjoy your new Tucson!
Excellent! Thank you! Just got a 2023 Kona with these features. Had planned to ignore them as I do when driving our other car with them, but will try them out!
So much effort and detail in this video. Wow. Immediate sub and like.
Much appreciated!
Great video, at last a video that explains how it works in detail, especially in traffic jams. It seems that unlike on the Tesla's the distance with the 1 setting is what an actual driver would do in traffic jams. A Tesla stays too far away even at the minimum setting.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome demo. I was too lazy to read the 8,000 page owners manual on adapative cruise control for my '24 Palisade Caligraphy. This video told me everything i need to know about it. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this. I'm shopping for a Tucson for my twice yearly 50 round trip long drives to Mexico and back from Seattle WA. Your reference to fatigue and the help this technology lends seals the deal for me. I do my drives with strings of 8-9 hour long days arriving at the next hotel with white line fever
Thank you for watching!
Great tutorial
I'm just stressed looking at your fuel gauge, and you seemed totally not worried about running out of gas 😂. Thanks for the video though... thumbs up 👍
Goodmade vid with explaining the items.... I practice it with my now one year young Tucson PHEV .... I enjoy this comfortable and perfect styled SUV ... before I was driving a BMW X3 with 3.0 Ltrs. ... and I don't miss the BMW!!! I'm loading own produced electric energy from solar with my wallbox in garage! So the Plug in is perfect decision 👍👍👍
Right on!
Thank you
Thanks very helpful
Does the adaptive cruise control only slow down the car at the set distance when both lane departure and steering assist is also on? Meaning, if I dont have lane departure and steering departure activated, will my car not automatically slow down when using teh cruise control on my hyundai santa fe 2023?
Thanks for that. Your video is better than Hyundai's. No bs music, just what the buttons do and what the indicators mean. Good job.
Thank you for watching!
Great video! Explains everything I wanted to know about the smart cruise control. I’m an owner of a 2023 Elantra Hybrid, and there’s a lot to learn.
Glad it was helpful!
I have one and for some reason my android phone which is plugged in sometimes the screen says android not connected. Very confusing
Cool function. if the car is equipped with smart cruise control 2(new version), it is slower and faster and adjusting speed following highway road curve degree
Great informative video. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
very good tips
Well done, thank you so much.
You're welcome Ric!
Best video I’ve seen on the topic so far. Thanks. What about the same system at night?
It works great at night too, just as long as visibility is good (IE no heavy rain, fog, snow, etc). Thank you for watching!
Thank you❤
great, now i know how to resume from break!
Thanks so much my friend. Your video demonstrations are gold.
Thank you for watching!
Great video I have had my eniro a week now and not used any of the features. But after this video I will give it a try
Try it out it's a great feature!
@@CarDietrich thanks i think im going to have to rewatch your video again i couldn't get it working. all it does is warn me the car in front is moving 👍
Make sure your particular car is equipped with the smart cruise control system, some of the more basic models just have regular cruise control.
@@CarDietrich you maybe right even with the final editon old shape eniro maybe its just not on it and just has the auto steering
@@CarDietrich I just gave it another go when I was dropping the kids off. I just pushed the cruise button up and the 2 cars and dots appeared. Thanks if it was not your video I would never know how it worked👍 or ever use it
Excellent
Thanks For
nice work
I figured all this out by day 3 with my Tucson. Can you run ac all night in go mode like a Prius? You need gas!
The lane steering thing on my 22 Tucson messes up on grooved concrete highways that don't have painted lane lines but has white reflective bumps things. Had to turn it off bc when it reads the lane wrong it takes you out of the lane (scared me until I turned it off).
thanks for explaining
You're welcome!
If you have the screen with the built in gps (premium models) it’ll actually slow the car down for you when you’re hitting close turns n stuff pretty dope lol
It has radar cruise control. It works great
Stop & Go traffic so so annoying, especially here in Europe where most cars are manual stick shift and the speed rolling may be below the lowest RPM of the first gear ... then you have to press the clutch a 1000 times very gently ... my next car will definitely be a Kia or Hyundai with that feature enabled. Thank you for this very good and practical explanation.
your talking rubbish mate, it's not a stick shift in Europe. in fact bet you have never been there Dude.
@@rivergladesgardenrailroad8834 You so funny or a poorly programmed bot. I am German, living in Germany my entire life and know the situation in Europe very well.
very helpful video
Glad it was helpful!
Here's a tip it took me a little while to figure out - how to realize that the car in front of you is causing you to go slower than you have set. You can of course just look at the speedometer, but that can be distracting and annoying. An easier way (I think) is to just glance at the ACC icon. If the car on the left side of the icon is white, the car in front is controlling your speed (you are going slower than your set speed). If it is gray, the car in front is going at least as fast as your set speed, and if it is missing no car has been detected in front of you.
Helps with the take a break you get from the vechile
Thanks for the informative video. I just got my 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Limited yesterday and am trying to learn all the features. I have never had a car so sophisticated before. Your video was a big help! Now if I can just figure out how to move it out of a parking space after being parked by using the remote!
That only requires the use of two buttons on the key fob. Clearly marked. If you managed to get your licence to drive, you’ll be ok with operating these two push buttons.
This is an amazingly helpful video. I purchased a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited (regular, not Hybrid or electric model) a month ago and have been struggling to figure out all the gizmos it has. The dealership was moderately helpful but basically said, get in and play with it to figure it out and the manual is less than helpful to a newbie. This makes me feel much more confident using the cruise control and now I understand what the additional features are and will be more likely to use them. If you have other videos showing how to use all the features of the beautifully huge center console I hope I can find them too. Also, are you aware of any way, other than disconnecting the battery, to reset the system when the sound goes out? The "reset" button did nothing. I stumbled upon a response online mentioning disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and that was the only thing that we could find that worked. Thanks again, this clears up a lot!
Hello Gail, unfortunately I don't have any other how-to videos about the Tucson on my channel other than the Highway Driving Assist and Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, which your Tucson should have since it's a limited. You can watch that video here: kzhead.info/sun/hcyKhZuMg5yIo2g/bejne.html but quite frankly those features aren't nearly as useful as the standard Smart Cruise Control system that I described in this video you left this comment on. I mainly stick to Adaptive Cruise Control how-to videos for different types of cars, because it's a feature I am very familiar with and I enjoy using myself. Unfortunately I don't know anything about resetting the audio on this car either, I apologize about that.
@@CarDietrich No need to apologize. I was just taking a shot in the dark hoping that since you drove these vehicles you might have more in-depth knowledge of other parts as well. Thanks again for the information you provided on the cruise control, it will definitely come in handy. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you Gail, you too! Enjoy your new Tucson :)
Hi Gail, this response is a bit late but I have a '22 Tucson Limited (Hybrid) and had issues with the sound going out from time to time, usually when I was using Android Auto. What I found that usually worked was to push the Media button and switch to a different source like radio or Bluetooth audio, then switch back to the source I was listening to (Android Auto). 95% of the time that fixed it for me. The other times I had to disconnect my phone from Android Auto (I use a wireless adapter called Motorola MA1, so I unplugged that from the car and plugged it back in) and that usually solved the other 5%. Hope that helps!
How to use huydai seat contro on 2017 tuscon
Thanks! that was Cruise control pause/ resume right in between + - Q: when Adoptive Cruise Control is slowing down or at Zero, Break light comes on? So vehicle behind can see it?
Yes, the brake lights are illuminated when the Adaptive Cruise Activates the brakes
Thanks for the video. The steering wheel also move automatically in a curve?
The lane keeping assist will help steer through a curve if the car's camera can read the lane lines, but you still need to keep your hands on the wheel
Thanks for posting this. What is the minimum speed you have to be going to activate the ACC?
20 MPH
@@CarDietrich That's great news thank you. I drove a VW ID4 for 2 years. You can activate ACC at 15mph on those. I may be buying a 2023 Ioniq 5 SEL shortly.
Great video!! When I put it on cruise control and click the toggle switch up to increase speed it keeps going up and up it doesn't stop. So if I'm driving at 60 and flip the switch up it just goes from 60 to 65 to 70 doesn't stop and I don't know how t stop it. Any suggestions?
I have only experienced that once and it was on a Kia Seltos, I couldn't figure out how to make it stop but I would advise you to take the car to your dealer and see if they can fix it because I think it is a problem with the system, the Kia I experienced it on was not my car so I didn't take it in for repairs. Thank you for watching and good luck!
I am driving Tucson in Canada. In cold winter , -15 deg F, the smart cruise control does not work with its sensor malfunction message. I conjecture that cold weather increases the vehicle structure stiffness and it prevents the sensor from functioning properly. Driving highway without cruise control requires a lot of labour by my foot. Another problem of smart cruise control is that the vehicle tries to reduce speed without any vehicle in front of my vehicle. The smart cruise control looks like to see 'Ghost vehicle' . Last one is forward collision avoidance(FCA) system. When it is activated, the vehicle tries to do emergency stop without any vehicle in front, again seeing 'Ghost vehicle'. Overall , Hyundai designers did not consider all weather conditions, producing " poor quality " smart cruise control and FCA system. Old technology , if it is not SMART, looks more reliable and convenient to use in cold Canada weather.
nice reciew brother what if i dont want to use cruise control can i just push my break on or push the gas pedal manually or i will cansel the cruise control buttom?
Pushing the brake pedal (not the gas pedal) will disable the cruise control. Thank you for watching!
One question: with "lane keep" turned on, if you came upon some "roadkill" up ahead, can you manually swerve around it without disengaging "lane keep" so it resumes steering after passing the "roadkill"?
After temporary driver intervention to avoid an obstacle such as roadkill, the lane keeping will resume normal operation
This looks awesome. I have a 2020 Pilot and the adaptive cruise control is garbage. Literally the only reason I'm buying a new car.
Only thing I don’t like on following distance I was on vacation on interstate and had maximum distance set. A car beside me cut across to get to the other lane beside me on the left. It was like the car slammed on the brakes. My daughter freaked out. She was actually driving at the time.
So I just got a 2022 new to me Santa Fe with exact same buttons as this. For some reason it is working just like a cruise control old style, meaning not adaptive. Are you sure there is not away to enable and disable it? I really don't want to drop off at dealer to find out there is a button buried in the menu somewhere. Also, any other things to check. The vehicle also has it according to the window sticker that came in glove box....Thanks for great video!!!! Just wish mine worked like that.....
My question is this: are you using the system when there are no other cars around? Because if so, it will just act like normal cruise control. As far as I know on the Hyundai's with Smart Cruise Control, that's the mode it's always in. There is no way to switch it to "normal" cruise control.
@@CarDietrich yes sir, I have been playing with it the last few days trying to get it to slow me down. Even with it set on 4 (greatest gap) it runs up on people before I have to hit breaks. It seems like it is not seeing cars. They do not show up?
I would take the car to the dealership and have their service department look at it, if its a 2022 It should still be covered under warranty
@@CarDietrich so, I was in rush when I purchased. After reading up, checked front end real food and there is a crack in air dam and scratch on lower bumper. My guess is the got hit by a truck backing up with a hitch…..but cruise control works, just like an old school car…..thanks for replies!!!
We just bought a 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe. My question is, when the adaptive cruise brings you to a stop, do the brake lights light up?
Yes the brake lights are illuminated in that circumstance
@@CarDietrich Thank you!
Could you please let me know how to turn off the transportation mode on Tucson 2023?
Unfortunately I do not know
Nice little session and clear :-) When you're in a traffic jam and the cars comes to 0 mph, you want to switch lanes, will it accelerate by itself, when you'd set it to cruise at 80mph or do you need to do it yourself? I think myself but I want it confirmed :-)
If you change lanes and there is nobody in front of you the car will accelerate up to the speed you have the Smart Cruise Control set to
However if the car ahead of you stops for a long period of time, a notice pops up telling you to hit gas pedal or cruise switch.
Do you have to press the cruise control again when you quickly stop at traffic or does it continue and out gas for you?
If you hit the brakes yourself you have to hit resume to re-activate the cruise
I was told the new some Idle Stop and Go is not on some of the 2023 Santa Cruz. Salesman said it was because of the type of motor. There is no off/on button on the vehicle. Are there some cars that don't have to have Idle Stop and Go? I want to know before I buy a new Santa Cruz! Thanks
When you say idle stop and go, are you referring to the system that can shut the engine off to save fuel? Or the Smart Cruise Control’s ability to bring the car to a complete stop?
How well does it work going around big turns on a highway?
If the lane driving assist is active and the car's cameras can read the lane lines it should help you steer through it, but you need to keep your hands on the wheel and control the steering yourself if necessary.
How can you use the adaptive feature if you're going slower than what the cruise control requires to activate when you hit a stop and go traffic jam?
Minimum speed to engage the Smart Cruise Control is 20 mph, so maybe set it on surface streets before you get on to the traffic clogged freeway so you can just resume it when your in traffic
I have all these features on my 2022 Kona and I can actually keep my hands off the steering wheel for over ten minutes as long as the line is clear, otherwise you get get message to put your hans back on it.
I have seen reports on excessive oil usage, engine failure, transmission failure, etc. Does this still apply to the 2022 Tuscon Limited?
For the three days I had this one it ran flawlessly. You can Google any mass market car and "oil consumption" or "engine failure" or "transmission failure" and you'll find all sorts of scary results. If you want a Tucson Limited go ahead and buy it. Everything in life is a gamble, just do the scheduled maintenance on time and you'll probably be fine.
Had mine 11 months, flawless so far.
What are the default 'following' distances? I noticed my car Beeped at me when the vehicle in line ahead moved and I did not.
There isn't any "default" following distance as far as a set number of yards or meters, it varies based on speed. IE the following distance will be longer at 70 MPH than it is at 15 MPH at the same exact setting
When smart cruise is activated ,the vehicle in front of you changes lanes or leaves your line of travel the turbo kicks in and launches your car totally destroying gas mileage. I always use regular cruise control and pay attention to traffic.
does it work well at night as well?
Yes it does work at nigh
With the sun out there thats when the system is needed the most too work.
Whats the lowest speed you can enable the cruise at ? can you activate it if you forget and get stuck in traffic going 5 mph or needs to be at least 20mph or something similar before it can be turned on ? Does brake pedal cancel the adaptive cruise as it does cancel normal cruise as well ?
You need to be going at least 20 MPH to activate the Smart Cruise Control. If you hit the brake it does cancel the Smart Cruise Control.
@@CarDietrichif you hit the brake can you resume it again by pushing in on the button or do you have to hit the cruise control button and set your speed again
@@verticalyetti1266 you can just hit Resume for that
My 2023 Tucson with three months of use and 4800 miles has low oil level, I don't know if it is the properties of the oil they use or if it is the engine, I am worried.
You have a 100k warranty on the engine and transmission, but you MUST be able to prove you had all the services done on time for it to be valid. According to the owners manual, you need to change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever happens first. I would do that at your Hyundai dealer so they have it on file if there is ever an issue with the engine
Have a '24 Tuscon Limited. When I cancel cruise the digital mph display isn't there anymore. Am I doing something wrong?
Which digital display? The small one at the top (that goes away if cruise control is off) isn't your actual speed, it is the speed the CC is set for. If you want a digital display of your speed, press the left-hand button on the right side of the steering wheel (next to the cruise control buttons). The center of the display will cycle between info for this trip, info since refueling, info since manually reset, and the current speed (in big numbers).
@@briansomething5987 Yeah, thanks. Sometimes when I stop the cruise control the large speedometer display switches to an energy display and no MPH anymore
Omigosh. I’ve had my ‘22 Hyundai Tucson N-Line for a year. I still have trouble losing the Blue tooth/Apple play/navigation! I’ve never even tried the cruise control. Thanks for the lesson!
You are very welcome!
how can you drive a car for a year without cruise control, unless your a city driver.....
It would be very informative to know how the speed reduction works. My first thoughts were "how often am I going to go through brake pads"? So, is it controlled mechanically or electronically, through braking, transmission, or engine? Or a combination? I did go to the dealer, but not completely satisfied with their explanation.
The car will coast to slow down when it can, but it will use the brakes when it needs to as well. The system is not aggressive, it tries to be smooth, so it's not going to slam on the brakes unless it's an emergency situation and the person in front of you slammed on their brakes. To the specific question of "how often am I going to go through brake pads?" The answer to that is pretty much exactly as often as you would if you didn't use the Smart Cruise Control. Think about it, it doesn't change the driving conditions you're in. If the car in front of you slows down quickly, the brakes are going to be used. It's either you hitting them or the car's computers.
I should have clarified. The car in front is traveling at 60 mph, and my cruise is set at 75 so we are both going 60. Are my brakes holding me at 60 or is another system, ie transmission?
No, the brakes are not holding you at 60 in that situation. The car is adjusting the throttle and what gear the transmission is in to maintain the speed of the car in front of you.
