Austin Butler tears up after hearing Pricilla Presley’s message for him during his interview!
LOS ANGELES -- At the 2023 Oscar Nominees Luncheon," Elvis" star Austin Butler was moved to tears during an interview with On the Red Carpet's George Pennacchio.
Pennacchio started the interview reading a personal message from Priscilla Presley.
"Austin, you're carrying the torch of greatness. We couldn't be more proud of you. The Presley family loves you, Pricilla Presley."
Butler was visibly touched and wiped a tear from his eye.
"Aw man," Butler said with a little laugh. "You're making me emotional this morning!"
"Elvis" has received 8 Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor in a Leading Role for Butler. Butler told Pennacchio how the role of Elvis has played a part in his life.
Since the film's debut, Butler said he has encountered "kids who are coming up and saying that the movie has inspired them to play the guitar and all the women who have seen Elvis in concert, who are moved by it." He humbly concluded that "all those things... they shift things inside of you."

@@susancarter9351 Elvis didn’t go into Scientology. He investigated so many religions. He didn’t take it in. I don’t think he liked it. He was still reading his Bible and stayed with his roots. I hope Austin doesn’t either. One of the objections I have of Priscilla is Scientology. When she got mad at Lisa and couldn’t handle her was she’d take her to the Scientology building and lisa had to stay there. Then she’d go back and get her. It must have been like child abuse. Lisa just wanted to be a kid.

Austin is a sweetheart 🥰 I’ve not seen an actor so deserving of the love and praise that he’s been getting in such a long time.
I was watching the audience as the camera scanned them when he won this last ward. They were clapping like crazy and some were almost crying. It's actors appreciating a steller performance from a young actor who literally has raised the acting bar for everyone. The message being if you commit to a role this IS the process. You have to care that much.

Today's Oscars seem to be ...like AGT, et al, ...more about the best sob story and "The Academy" attempting to be PC. Brendan Fraser did a fine job in Whale ...but, most of the acting was done by the fat suit. Austin's performance, otoh, showed him to be a man of many talents ...and even greater humility! Austin is destined for greatness and more than one golden statuette.

I love that Austin captured the soul of Elvis. His love of music and his love for the very soul of humanity.
I honestly believe Elvis spoke through him. Austin was the "tool" for Elvis to tell his side of his life's story. I believe Austin mentioned asking Elvis to come into him and that's exactly what Elvis did. Even now you catch moments where Elvis will come through in certain movements, his voice, etc. Lisa Marie's close connection with Austin was i believe her soul connection to her father.

He is “real”! Not a full of yourself kind of guy. He talks about his mother and his friends. He certainly was brought up the right way. I really do admire him. While some stars get into drugs and booze, I see him staying grounded. May God bless him and his greatest asset is what money cannot buy, kindness! He truly is one kind of a person. Austin's portrayal of Elvis Presley was spot on, he nailed him. Even if he doesn't get an Oscar (I believe he will), to have the people who knew and loved Elvis best (Priscilla and Lisa Marie,r.i.p., Lisa), love him and the work he did is better than any statue, imo.

It’s so wild. I remember Elvis giving interviews being so humble, so shy, so kind that people took to him. Austin in so many ways brought Elvis back to life again. The man Elvis, not the image. My mother grew up in the same neighborhood in Memphis with Elvis' family, my mother was a huge fan, but she would always say that she remembered how shy Elvis was, then you hear some of Austin's interviews and he also talks about how shy he was as a kid also, so shy, that Austin says he couldn't even order is own food in a restaurant. Elvis was also an usher in the local movie theatre, and my Mom said he was so kind and down to earth. Crazy how things align in life, other actors could have played Elvis, but it's like Elvis and Austin's souls' were connected by some crazy twist of faith.

Reminds me of Jimmy Stewart who not only was an actor, poet, but a USA General. Yet, so humble. This is what we need in the public eye - a positive influence. I'd love to see Austin do a second Elvis movie. The first was from the Col. Parker angle, but Elvis had a lot of angles. Maybe one from the Jerry Schilling angle.
That would not be good for his career though and no way should he do another Elvis movie. He just now has finally gotten over "being" Elvis that it would not be healthy either
I don't think it's a good idea, I think he's ready to move away from the Elvis view, although he loved it, and the people, it was a lot of hard and diligent work for three years. He's ready to move on and Baz said as good as it was, he won't pursue another like it either. Very hard work for all involved.
@@susansnow8391 If hard work is the only reason for not doing it, that's a pretty flimsy excuse. Could be that is just the current spin while the film is riding high in the award circuits. But among all the possible reasons for not doing a second film, it's not really a believable excuse. That sort of excuse is the very kind that drives public sentiment for film #2 being made. Look for a surprise announcement in a few years after they've ridden out all they can reap from Round 1. Don't underestimate the Elvis machine's marketing wherewithal.
