Clip from my 50 Cent interview on Eminem vs Tupac. Watch my new 50 Cent interview here: y2u.be/K0c1cHxbhaA
In this clip from my new 50 Cent interview, 50 Cent compares Eminem via Cleaning Out My Closet, and Tupac, via Dear Mama, as artists and the perspectives they offered between White America and Black America.
To paraphrase 50's point: with Eminem's mom, drug usage was a part of her experience, and with Tupac's mom, drug usage was a part of her experience too. But the tones of anger are where the differences between them are. Whereas Eminem's anger is over how things should've been, versus Tupac, it was a term of endearment, accepting things as they are, represents the White American perspective vs Black American perspective.
To Em his mom was always like that, he dealt with it his whole life. To Tupac it was just a dark time in her life that she eventually got out of. Two similar situations but very different at the same time.
Its dumb to say that it was the same scenario just because they both abused drugs lol. Everything was different
@@Subs1338 It isn't dumb at all.
Yeah they're two individuals with two different mothers, just simplifying it to race is a dumb take
@@MrFriendlyCsgoContent your tweakin
Tupac's mom was dealing with drugs since the 80s. She didn't even know Tupac was a rap star until the late 90s, when he would be shot down soon after. They're experiences we're similar, not the same, but they both took their pain in a different way. Pac just grew up faster. Not that big of a deal in the long run, cuz Eminem understands now.
Tupac's mom beat 53 federal charges, representing herself... very intelligent

'Cause when I was low you was there for me You never left me alone, because you cared for me And I could see you comin' home after work late You're in the kitchen, tryin' to fix us a hotplate You just workin' with the scraps you was given And Mama made miracles every Thanksgivin' -Pac Remember when Ronnie died and you said you wished it was me? Well guess what, I am dead, dead to you as can be! - Em 2 different women
Did Eminem die from starvation or something? Because last time I checked he's still alive, which would mean that his mother fed him everyday.. So why didn't he rap about his mom fixing him a "hotplate" (moms spegetti) or all the other positive things she did for him..? You know why? Because of the psychology is different (which is what 50 is talking about).. and how do you know Tupacs mom ain't say sh*t that was way worse than that? She was a f*cking crackhead bro.. So I know for a fact she was saying foul shi*t.. "when I was younger me and my mama had beef 17 years old kicked out in the streets" .. He would've got into details and went off on her if he had the same psychology as Eminem. Not to mention, "the plan is to show you that I understand" .. So the song was about understanding his mothers perspective (which again, shows the difference in phycology and why the lyrics are different).. When it comes to Eminems song, there isn't the same level of understanding.. Even though his mom was 15yo when she got married to his 22yo dad, got pregnant when she was 18 and was abandoned by him shortly after he was born. As a matter of fact, even Eminem took back all that privileged white kid BS he said, came back to his senses and mad a song similar to Tupacs (with understanding).. kzhead.infoko7t_Fe605Q
Tupac is more *graceful* with words, Eminem more *angry* ;- both are honest, passionate, and legendary.
The anger is the difference that points out that there was problem to address vs a ''it is what it is'' that does not command change.
That depends on the song lol. 2pac had various styles, some where angry , i love them all
Em’s anger was justified. Tupac was smart enough to know black people wouldn’t buy an album wouldn’t like the song if she were held accountable. Eminem knew there was/is already so much anger towards white women (in the black community) that it was okay to be honest. Same topic…. But each audience has radically different expectations of a mother. It’s not okay to be a loser or druggie. Especially, with mouths to feed.
@@gabrielmarcotte1905 You nailed it
Hit em up seemed very angry to me
Eminem made Headlights, and apologized and said these lyrics, “I will always love you from afar, ‘cause you're my mom”
Damn! I didn’t know that. I might have to listen to Marshal a little bit more cause when I was a teenager we wasn’t bumping his albums

@@derrickbird9676 yeah I always wondered if he’d ever make a record like that towards his mother, down the line. And he did. Maturing is a beautiful thing.
@@deeky1239 ….. when Dear Mama was written, his mom already stopped using crack.. there was nothing to change.. and even when she temporarily got into crack, she had long already been an amazing & legendary person & mother.. let alone activist and historical figure/revolutionary.. the point with Eminem’s mom was she was none of those things, and supposedly/apparently a bad person & bad mother .. and still not sorry/accountable, nor prob off from/done with the same drug habit/addiction she had before .. and then also infamously sued Eminem lol
Eminem's mom also said to him she wished he died instead of someone else in their family who had passed. Tupac's mom was an incredible mother, despite her crack addiction. I empathize with both mothers, and Eminem overcame his troubles eventually and dedicated a very emotional song to him in MMLP2
Bro, don't talk about what you don't know. How do you know how good of a mom Tupac's mom was ? You're just saying shit for the sake of it.

@@BenDovahkin Debbie and Afeni were cut from two different cloths. Their sons responses to their turmoil is evidence.
I think what made Pac different from the other artists is his intelligence and being raised by strong intelligent revolutionary black leaders like Geronimo and dr. Mutulu. Because of this he could explain a situation in a song from different layers and perspectives. Listen to "daddy's song" for example or "Resist the temptation".
Ems mom raised him in that though, he went through hell from birth probably, terrible childhood and it continues into adulthood to where he finally makes it and becomes successful and the toxic environment spills over to where he gets sued, that's where the anger stems from. Tupac, on the other hand, his mom was very powerful, educated, member of the black Panthers, strong and raised him well, you can see it in his younger videos he was very respectful, well mannered, now somewhere along the line maybe she got caught up in the drugs and had a rough spot in life, but she got clean and was still supportive, that explains the difference in tone and how he portrays her, even though you were a crack fiend momma, you were always a black queen momma. You can't just say you have two rappers, both parents did drugs, one rapped in anger and one rapped with compassion without context.
I think he explained the context very well… not sure what you missed there?
@@CorySpitznagel Well no he simply said its because one is white and one is black and that somehow makes them different because of this vague white and black have different perspectives on how to be raised. Which is such a generic and lazy take on this. Whereas the above comment actually has a better understanding of why they are different.
@@helenHTID stop acting like I know what Em's life was like? But you're not going to say stop acting like I know about PAC's life? They've both been very open about their lives in music and interviews, it's crazy how you don't even speak on Pac but just want to make Eminem look bad. I'm a huge fan of both, and all I said was this little snippet from an interview doesn't provide context. Grow up lil man, you and your girlfriend Cory
You can take out Pac and put mostly any other black person in that statement and it most likely will be the same. Black boys never openly disrespect their parents like that. Pac's lyrics touch me more than Eminem's lyrics. Pac had such a strong and heartfelt message to share. Dear Mama still makes me cry.
That because 2pac is a poet and poet is different from a rapper
@@mikehorse2317 I'd say that he is both. He felt no shame about his game. He could do party songs, hard hitting diss tracks and what not. But I remember one of his lines: " my mission is to be more than just a rap musician The elevation of today's generation, if I could make 'em listen". This was actually pretty deep
No… the difference is that Tupac’s mom still showed him love while Em’s mom showed none. And that’s a lesson on where most anger and hate comes from.
Exactly
Em mom gave him some love. If em mom didn’t give him any love,he would of been an unheard of abandon infant or dead, sexually, physically abused, mentally derange adopted orphan.
The cultural and societal contexts are part of that too though. Like why was Tupac’s mom able to do that while Em’s mom wasn’t? We don’t live in vacuums. Tupac’s mom was likely able to show love because that is ingrained in the culture and societal conditions that 50 is talking about
I don't think it's fair to say that about Em's mom when we don't actually know her. Em likes to exaggerate for entertainment, like the song my mom is an obvious fabrication for fun...
@@osamadar8826 you do know that Em's mom tried to feed him valium as a kid more then once right?
50's understanding of psychology is one of things that make him so effective in different arenas of life. He can read what's going on beneath the surface like few I've seen and this clip highlights that perfectly!
Yep and he can also read " Cat In Da Hat " Unlike Floyd. Money Hungryer ! 👀🔥✌

Tupac is probably my favourite rapper but Eminem’s mom was just horrible compared to Tupac’s. Afeni pushed Pac through all kinds of schools and she was very supportive, she used her black panther conncetions to help Tupac as much as she can.
Facts and it’s sad because Ems mom was a single parent, sometimes I feel like Em Over exaggerated some of his life. Sure he grew up without a pops, but to sit there and say his mother didn’t love him and treated him poorly I find it hard to believe, I don’t believe she was an angel but let’s not forget neither may of been Marshall as a kid, Marshall was her only child for 12-13 years til his half brother was born from Debbie
@@ChrisLFFL bruh he from Detroit, it's like a 3rd world country
I wish that were true dude. Truth is she spent a large portion of his life as a crackhead and kicked him out of the house a dozen times. It was his teacher that got him into the air school with Jada Pinkett.
Na eminems mom fed him volume and brought niggas around the house that werent reputable. Tupacs step dad was actually someone that wasnt a drunk, and taught Pac on how the system works and even til this day cares about Tupacs music. Em’s mom basically tried to kill him. A massive difference, 50 is watering it down to make it sound like its just race thats the difference; yes the expectation was different but at the end of the day Pac gained more by having a strong mother regardless if she was on drugs. Eminems mom was sick and told her healthy son that he was sick too. Its not really that close.
@@ChrisLFFL she was only 17 when Em was born I think it makes sense for her to have had such poor parenting since she was so young.
That was extremely deep and insightful. Expectations set the tone of outcomes. I will ponder on this thought more
I'm impressed by how much thought he put into that.
*To add more context* 2PAC career started pretty early at age 19. At age 25 Eminem, Kim and new born Baby Hailie were living at his mom's house. You can imagine the tension in the home.
Pac recognised his mother's struggles as well as his own and looked for the reasons for it where as Em just saw his own struggles. Pac had compassion and empathy for his community and blamed the failings of society for the predicament his people were in and the root cause for their shared suffering. Em had anger and resentment and only cared about how it effected him (same as most of us would) that's what made Pac extra Special. Look how they treat their friends in terms of opportunities, Em is a very do it yourself kind of guy - Show you the door but won't open it for you with a 'your good I'm sure you'll make it' attitude.Where as Pac was a Ride or Die kind of guy - Not only will he show you the door, he'll open it put his arm around your shoulder and help you thru with a 'Come on I'll make sure you'll be ok, I got you' attitude.
This!!!!
That is cap. Em has done records for many artist and put alot of his friends on. He brought out D12, big Sean, 50, Kendrick got inspired by the guy.any of today's artist have Eminem at the top of who they trying to reach. Pac is great but his impact and Eminems impact on the game is different. How they was raised are different. Pac comes from a struggle black family who's mother was doing what she could with what she had. Eminem was from as struggling white family who's mother abused her child and let another man do her child harm. So of course they music are different. They was raised different
Dude thats bs Pac´s mom actually supported him taught him how to act and had self respect and the respect of those around her Where as Em´s mom used him and made him belive he was sick so she could legally buy drugs for her own uses. How could you not resent that Pac´s mom was a good mother with her own vice´s Ems mom was a bad mother with her own vice´s (from what we know) As for what you said about how they treat their friends would you rather have a friend who belives in you knows you have your dreams so he gives you a couple g´s and a studio to make it happen but if you can´t make it he´ll still make sure your good and not wanting for money (em did this for d12 and slaughterhouse). Or a friend who treats you like a pet or a goon and thinks its his responsebility to take care you all the way
This is 100% correct. Pac was more self-aware which made him more aware of the people and things around him in relation to himself, whereas Em is more self-absorbed.
funny how you think you know shit about 2 humans you never met or know much about except the things we all get to see

Damn I never looked at Cleaning Out My Closet vs. Dear Momma comparatively. Great breakdown.
I, 110% Feel this as my Mother (RIP) was also addicted to drugs, and in turn, made my life very hard.. From the things she was supposed to teach me, but didn't (or couldn't), to some of the things no child should ever have to experiance, being my daily life. I feel both of those Mens' sentiments.. As I have been in the Hatred/Anger spot Eminem was coming from, at an early age, but some-how I grew out of that into more of a Pac's mindset.. Where, yeah it was bad.. But I know 100% she loved me and tried her best, while being wounded and hurt herself. And I'd like to think I turned out pretty well, all things considered. I'm not in Jail/Prison/Dead, and I'm not following my Mothers' path, and I have a Job. I could be a bit happier, but.. One step at a time.
1 luv I appreciate your testimony forgiveness is apart of healing do progress is able to begin
I was thinking this. I hope 50 wasn't trying to imply which emotion is better and which is worse. Feeling angry and disappointed are legitimate emotions. Of course, acceptance is better but that shouldn't mean to abandon hope for a better future.
NO, difference is that Eminem's Mum tried to take his money by sueing him and taking things she didn't help him get. Tupac's Mum never did that. That's why *Cleaning out my closet* has that tone, anger and lyrics, it's one of the best songs of all time because of that, you feel his pain in EVERY LYRIC, plus it's great music with a killer hook
Yea he is sooooo much better than Tupac and is the best there ever was there is no one even close to Em's level
Listen to Headlights, Eminem apologizes to his mom because, like you said he was very angry, but time passed and he realized how much it hurt her with that song and a few others, and he knows she did what she could do to raise him and his half brother alone while being an addict (which is really hard) Doesn't make sense to compare them, Tupac was one of the GOATS when he was alive and certainly is still one now, RIP.
He wasn’t wrong though .. he said “drug usage was part of it” doesn’t mean it was the full picture .. Em’s early music before cleaning out my closet was him talking about how his mom was an addict “found out my mom does more dope than I do” in “my name is” then later on, she tried to sue him .. also different mothers too, Debbie acted the way she acted.. and Afeni Shakur raised pac better .. then in 2013 em apologized to his mom in Headlights ..
@@pierocignetti8959 *Headlights* wasn't necessary because Em apologizes in *Cleaning out my closet* in the hook ("I'm sorry mama...") Moreover *Headlights* is a trash song I never got fully through because of the bad beat, gay hook, flow, cadence, lyrics etc.

I would say Pacs mother loved him even through the drug use and Ems mother didn't. When you are poor especially a generational poor kid the dream is the same no matter the skin color. The dream is not to be poor anymore the individual person makes the difference.
I feel ya on that. ✊🏻
Very intuitive observation. 50 ain’t no dummy.
I a disagree with that particular analogy. They may both have been drug addicts....but Tupac...wasn't a victim of Munchausen Syndrome. There were also many other factors involved! How could Eminem have any expectations when he never saw anything but the life he had and those around him! Those around him weren't much different from what Pac grew up with! Tupacs mother didn't treat him the same way Eminem mom treated him. There are just too many variables to generalize it the way 50 did! Imo
PAC's mom was the drug addict not pac!

@@markh7831 Yes he is he’s saying how they both felt growing up there’s not much more personal than that haha

And Eminem is in a class by himself as being the lone white rapper especially the time he came out , selling 150 million more albums then Tupac , & he was a better rapper then Tupac and your dumb if you can’t see that
I agree
Both songs are great! Both passionate and deep but I think cleaning out my closet with just pure anger at his mother because she tried to kill him.
Never thought this would come from 50...Afeni was a true soldier and compassionate about her son raising as one...on the other hand Debbie just did drugs and abused marshal over and over again. Life is not the same for everyone 50..you should know that better than anyone else
Great point of view that I've never think about
To me, the outlook on life is what made the difference to me. Eminem, to white people is "trailer trash" he didn't grow up in the suburbs with the white picket fence. So there is some resentment there towards his mother not bringing the lifestyle that he "should" of had. (I'm white so I may be wrong/ignorant to some things) With Pac, he was in the ghetto. Which to Pac would of been easier to accept, since majority of his peers would of grown up with the same situation as he did. So to Pac, his mother's drug usage could of been seen as a way to cope with their situation. But with Eminem, his mother's drug addiction could of been seen as the cause for their situation.
Why do people even compare both of them
I think it's the success. Even as a white guy I don't really find myself relating to all of Eminems music because I could never publicly shame my mother like he did. As for Pac, the first time a ever cried from a record was him..music never touched me until then. But alot of ppl like em...can't discredit empirical fact
He’s not comparing Eminem & Tupac directly, he’s comparing two specific records they have addressing their mothers and providing context for the difference in tone.

He was a poet and a revolutionary, but wordplay, technical ability, metaphors and such were not. It's black and white, black Men honor there Mom some of us thats all we have, rest in peace Pac 1luv to the eternal Gemini, Em I just can't relate
That last part
50 seems to think so but hey what does he know right? Lol
So white guys hate their moms? Kinda racist isnt it?
"Black men honor *their mom?" So do non black men not honor their mothers? Didn't know honoring your drug addict neglectful & abusive mothers was strictly a black thing. Good to know. Now let's take this knowledge & compare it to how these black men grow up to commit a disproportionate amount of crime as well as statistically abandon their children to be raised by these wonderful mothers at a higher rate than any other racial group. Perhaps there should be more criticism of these failed mothers as opposed to unearned "honoring." You don't honor someone just because you came out of them. You honor them if they did/are doing an honorable job of raising you. Blind devotion to someone that has failed you does nothing positive for you, your mother, or society at large. Do not honor someone that does not honor you. (Keep in mind I am not saying you personally, I am referring to people who's mothers failed them yet choose to still "honor" them.)
Michael I think Deutscher Riese has just educated your ignorant ass!! That’s a point Michael would care to explain why there are so many black kids who’s fathers are not around and a very high statistic that single moms are raising black children on they own?
50 legend
On point.
Different levels altogether.. One is a leader and the other's a depressing crazy lyricist... 🥇 PAC 🥈 BIG 🥉 NAS
What?...
Black Americans expect our lives to be hard and most of us are not disappointed…
yo this was well explained

50 speaking the truth....
He is spot on with that.
The difference is between respect, that's it
Good Lord, WTF did he just say at 0:34 “Terms a Doorman in it” (Terms of endearment) Hilarious
Lmao no clowning on the OG 😭 haha
Tupac's lyrics come from the depths of his soul and it resonates with the black community because that's their story too where Em is speaking from a white person's perspective but the same exact theme though. Pac is a 1 of 1 plain and simple.
Both resonate with any and everybody
@@NextMJ2 Really don't
@@roadrunner7441 Most white people don't have shitty moms. People are able to appreciate things that they didn't go through, and almost nobody went through the shit em did. It's just called empathy, has nothing to do with who it happened to or skin color.
@@roadrunner7441 Pac doesn't really resonate with me though because I disagree with him. He tries to be a thug and a deep person and he's just not deep. He's an idiot who was raised by a Marxist-Leninist crackhead mom and wants to blame the white man for that. His ideology is warped and maybe if he weren't out thugging around, talking bout guns and gangs, he would have lived long enough to mature and realize how childish his views are. Also he's just not that good at rapping.
@@chungboislim2061 That's definitely not the reason why black people have it so hard . But since you spoke on it I'll break it down for you. White mom's usually are whores and drunks and do prescription pills. But when I sold drugs I definitely served some white soccer mom's too 😂
The conclusion he presents is deep af
yeah for u since u that shallow .
@@drive-2786 I am shallow, I pick looks over personality everytime and what’s more I’m proud of it sorry not sorry
The major difference between Eminem and Tupac Shakur is that Tupac puts more soul and you can actually feel him in his music and Eminem you don't really The beats are very different and Tupac Shakur created the outlaws rip to Tupac fatal and of course kadafi
50 cent has a truly genius mind
I mean, ‘Em has mentioned his mother in several songs, all variably different but yes if you were to choose Cleaning out my Closet, then it’s a fine example of what he is saying.
The difference is 1 is a tribute an another is a Harsh critism. They simply don’t compare because they are parellels. Theres no real difference between Them other than the speed of the vocals. They both rime, write and rap about Their lifes.
I believe it is important for everyone to watch Tupac hs interview before all of it.
Thanks 👍💪🏾 Tuff boss thanx I feell ya brother 🙏🔥💪⚡☄️👍🔊
It's interesting. Both points of view have validity, but only one point of view is likeable. In relationships sometimes airing out the pain normatively between people who care about each other, platonic or otherwise, for one person to express their feelings of wanting things to be a certain way may only be half the story, but it's about reconciliation. Eminem once said "what hurt me the most is you won't admit you was wrong," meaning someone, if they want things to be different, have to own what they did. Sometimes people alienate themselves by not allowing reconcilation and only seem concerned with defending their reputations. And legally, I can understand that. But with friends and family one has to be open and honest for it to work. In the movie about Tupac's life he praised and praised women in his songs, but seemed to ignore something important and that's why he went to prison. I don't know the details of that and even if I'm wrong about Tuoac, because that was a fucking movie, like who knows, communication is sometimes important, long-suffering is sometimes important, sometimes transparency is important and sometimes discretion is important. Eminem may not have been likeable, but the positivity of his impact is undeniable. One of the key reasons that so many rappers played at the Superbowl last year is because of Eminem that opened the door to so many hard conversations that led to healing. Sometimes one doesn't have to listen to what the artist says to know who he or she is, sometimes it's the company he or she keeps. What values tend to surround a person? That says a lot more about a person than what he or she says. I am surrounded by quality people with quality character, no matter how many times I may have "contradicted" myself. Consistency is not just the hobgoblin of little minds, it's sometimes even evidence for moral bankruptcy. If you've always stayed consistent for years and years in reputation, not just character, it's sometimes evidence of moral bankruptcy.
Interesting comparison and dissection of the two songs but we need to dive deeper. The one thing we are overlooking is the guy you're asking to give an opinion on the two different analogies of the songs about Mothers...LOST HIS MOTHER BY MURDER!! At the tender age of 8yrs old!! some people are clueless
That is exactly why this art will be thought upon methodology in the future with the exception of mumble, drill and whatever monstrosity’s are coming next, rap is linear to the previous tones of music , where the latter has no history except one where money is God and life is meaningless, to stain the legacy of generations of artists who broke boundaries and racial discrimination with their words whilst honouring the ones than done it before them, honours all of us with the message of never forget who you are and where you come from 🇮🇪🙏🏻
Tupac Dear mama was definitely more heartfelt and we can relate as a non white or minority
'shout out to fifty' - *Tony yayo*
I mean I can’t speak on Tupac because I don’t know all the facts, but em’s mom also used to drug him when he was a kid off downers and stuff she was taking which I think brings a different perspective as in she had a addiction problem which was hard enough but you had to drag me into this with you type of thing. I feel like that’s where most of em’s anger comes from.
2pacs mom smoked crack while pregnant and 2pacs brother i think died from the result.
50 is a genius. In all seriousness though, Eminem had hate in his heart for his mom due to how she treated and manipulated him, 2Pac had a strong relationship with his despite her flaws she had some really good qualities too.
pac was everything, eminem is mostly rap and thriving while being heartbroken
Addiction doesn't discriminate
