  • I remember watching all these episodes multiple times when I was younger, one of the most superb WWII series I’ve encountered. Replete with simple maps to illustrate military movements & maneuvers, concise & articulate narration, and thankfully, no reenactments, the whole ‘WWII in Colour” series is second to none. It’s worth mentioning that “The World at War” series made in the early seventies & narrated by Laurence Olivier is also extraordinary & has many more interviews with those who were involved in the war (be it soldiers or holocaust survivors) as it was produced only ~25 years after the conclusion of the war.

  • The Blitzkrieg strategy was not a German idea. The plan was first tried out during the WW1 battle of Cambrai France. Tanks supporting infantry with mobile artillery , and aircraft dive bombing enemy forward positions. After initial success it failed mainly because of the quality of the Tanks . As was proven years later it was a sound concept .

  • If the French military had anyone competent at the top, they could have kept going when they went into Germany instead of turning back when Germany was fighting Poland. That action may have spared Europe all the misery. Also, these documentaries always seem to make it seem that the German military was completely mechanized when this is hardly the case.

  • After 5 minutes of watching, I conclude that the filmmakers are uneducated when it comes to historical knowledge. Polish cavalry never fought on horses against tanks. Horses were used to move troops equipped with excellent 37mm anti-tank guns, the bullet of which penetrated every German tank just like a bullet from an anti-tank rifle. In addition, such a brigade was also equipped with a small number of light tanks. On September 1, a cavalry brigade near the village of Mokre stopped the 4th Armored Division, destroying or damaging about 100 German tanks. The second lie concerns aviation. On August 30, the combat squadrons were moved to hidden field airfields. This saved them from destruction as a result of a surprise attack. As a result, the Germans destroyed only disabled and civilian planes at the airports they knew

  • Wrong polish calvary never attacked tanks. Only instance it happened Polish Calvary countered attacked German infantry and routed German infantry and they ran head first into German tanks in the rear.

  • I do enjoy listening to this narrator, but I think he is completely incorrect in saying French armor or tanks were better than German. The main gun was built into the tank. The tank had to turn towards the target to fire. French troops and leadership was poorly funded and poorly trained. They were thinking/planning 20 years in the past to fight WW2. Shalom

    @politicsuncensored5617@politicsuncensored5617Ай бұрын
    • The only Tank the Germans had that could efective fought WW2 French Tanks not the WW1 leftovers where the PZ3 and at this Point Germany did not had to much of them. Germany still mostly used PZ 1 and 2 and which where more or less trash as already proven in the Spanish Civil War and Poland. The only good thing they had where Radio Comunication and the Combination with the Luftwaffe which took out most French Tanks in Combination with the 8,8 cm Flak which was used in France for the first time as a Anti Tank Gun.
