Knew some of these already but still it’s useful to find all these tips in one place. Really helpful for beginners and elders.
Yy
We all knew some of these already, it's the ones we don't know that matter
For anti-virus... the built in windows defender is actually pretty good. just remember to keep it updated. also the task scheduler can run things like the disk cleanup utility on certain intervals, without you having to do anything (and thus you dont have to remember, to do so!) it can be pretty handy, and you can have it do all sorts of things
Windows Defender + F-Secure SAFE is a top tier antivirus combo👍🏻 Top tier Finnish quality antivirus software👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
no, its trash. it doesnt detect anything
@@benox1 As a person who develops EXE's which sometimes move files around and such... yes it does, it often detects too much and it has detected every single actually unsafe file I've downloaded
@@AL3X1KUSKaspersky or Bitdefender without Windows Defender is enough
If it includes McAfee, then the Slim X Pro is no where near "clean" of bloatware lol
My laptop have mc afee. should I uninstall it? Is the windows defender alone is safe?
@@CenturyPHirstCorporationIncyep, Windows Defender pretty much takes care of everything McAfee does and much more. Also it’s an inbuilt software, pretty light on system resources, so doesn’t affect your performance at all.
People don't seem to understand just how powerful power plans are when it comes to battery life. I'm getting 30-40% more battery time after I created my own plan with some really aggressive battery saving options, but will give me the best performance when I'm plugged in. It really goes a long way. EDIT: Make sure you know what you're doing. Do some research before you dive into this. Most options there have no explanation given by windows.
could u make a google docs file just for us to copy that?
How did u do it?
Thanks for Classic Context Menu !
Awesome! Thanks Eber & Hardware Canucks :)
A truly awesome video, all of this advices are spot on :) goes straight to my favourites!
Definitely should do these annually they're super helpful
Windows Powertoys for me is the biggest upgrade to the windows experience. Things like fancy zones and always on top is a great feature for productivity work
I prefer my KDE Neon desktop
the search tool is also awesome
@@watynecc3309 lol, loved that.

This kind of content is great. Thanks, a lot of useful tips here. Some of it is stuff I know but would completely forget since they're set and forget. Really appreciate these tips to optimize things.
Man this was incredibly helpful even for cleaning up my desktop, thanks man
+9000 for Windirstat! Honestly I am horrible with organization in general so it is definitely a huge help.
WizTree is much faster, and has a better UI
@@pedrobravo322 +1 for wiztree, I used Windirstat without knowing about wiztree for a year… I want my year worth of sluggishness back
Thanks Eber. Everything is pretty useful.
Thanks for the tips, used ones and it make a lot of diferrence for me! Thank you!
Awesome! Even if I prefer a clean install myself and always have a usb-stick with w10pro, these tips are always welcome. Every bit of performance gain is good.
Step 1. Uninstall Windows
yep, no Windows on my Legion
@@techster1689 exactly
@@fatlumbehrami230 yo me also dual boot guy 😉 First i tried pop os but it messed up so bad that i couldn't even access bios then after 1 whole day sitting to fix it i finally could access the bios and then i installed windows and Ubuntu and tho i had got my lesson and did it properly this time but one thing that bugs me the most is that Ubuntu is very slow ( snap package manager + the gnome + my old weak i3 didnt go well) . But Ya battery was better for me too
@@AyaWetts what did you install instead for gaming? (If you have a legion you are probably a gamer)
@@jjcoolaus I've run a few different Linux distros on this one... currently have been running Fedora for a long time now, and it runs great.
What i do when setting up a new laptop is to see if there is an available ICC profile for the built in LCD. This helps in color accuracy and making sure it looks really nice. I use this on old computers and you'd be suprised once the lcd is calibrated its a joy to use and easier on the eyes. Also, I make the swap file a fixed size so it doesn't spend cpu time resizing the swap file.
how do i calibrate the LCD?
When I replaced my Dell Inspiron 5559 to a newer HP with ryzen 5 and and redeon the difference in LCD color and contrast is so awful now I'm stuck. And yes mg old Dell has ICC thank you for sharing what it meant. I have no idea that ICC maters in display quality. (saw it setting up and installing printer)
@@aa19nn Lynx Tom Cat solved the riddle of ICC profile in display.
Disabling the quick access panel is a lifesaver for me. I needed it for the culture.
Thank you for the classic context menu restore. I love the look of the new context menu but I use 7zip for work multiple times a day and those extra clicks to the more options add up.
Learned a lot. Thanks
Thats some good quality video .Great job.
thanks bro good information well delivered!!!!!!
That gaming section was actually good. just bought an Asus Vivobook 15 A1504Z and things like compact view, disabling notification, Disabling memory integrity was really helpful for me
I don't use laptops but I watched the video to see what I could optimize on my PC and certainly I like that I can get the previous context menu, thanks a lot.
I tried it on my windows 11 but menu is still the sa,e with (other options) I don't see any advantage with that new menu.
Oh bloody awesome video! Ebor is a legend
Always love these type of optimizing videos. 💛
Eber you are a Godsend!! I hope you guys were compensated for advertising those software apps
I really would not recommend turning windows sounds off entirely. Sometimes critical things that didn't pop up will still play the windows error sound, or if a device suddenly disconnected and you cant figure out why its not present, the sound will play. The windows sounds play a very important role in the system. If the sounds too obnoxious, just open the audio Volume Mixer and turn down System Sounds a little bit.
Turning down system sounds is exactly what I do.
I'd recommend WizTree over WinDirStat, much faster since it doesn't have parse the whole drive. My C: Drive was 2 seconds with Wiztree vs WinDirStat that took 2 minutes 45 seconds on the same drive.
thanks for showing how to restore the context menu.
Good vid, would have been nice to at least mention afterburner, xtu, and amd apu tuning utility
I always love these types of videos. They help me eek out more performance from my laptop. I really need this, because my laptop isn't all that powerful. And I still manage to game on it. And this time core isolation was a new thing for me. Thanks Eber. This video helped.
What are ur laptop specs and what games are u able to play on it?
Just hold shift before pressing right click... Boom you have classic context menu. I use it all the time and never felt any complaint.
Thank You from Sweden. 🖖
This was very useful!
really good video mate
Great video man , and yes, we want more tips like this
I applied most of them Thank You
Having an antivirus is the exact opposite of essential; getting malware on your PC is pretty damn difficult as long as you don't go downloading random crap from sketchy sites, and most AV software is basically a virus itself.
and windows built-in anti virus already good enough for most users
@@davidyang9902 yeah windows defender is actually a very useful and efficient program. does a very good job.
@@davidyang9902 that's why I thought as well, but not so long ago they somehow stole my CC info and used it on sketchy bet website and had to quickly change all my passwords. Now using Bitwarden and installed a Kaspersky anti-virus.
Agreed, I haven't used a third party anti virus since 2016
@@callofdookiemaster87131 I'd rather use a all in one online scanner like virus total, the only time I need it is if I'm doing things I shouldn't because I'm not rich and don't plan to make money from the things I wanted. I do get the things if it's for work though.
thnx man this tips helped
Probably the best video I’ve watched considering every other one is a copy of the previous ones
Nice video and really good tips. I'm actually working on an app that will offer you the possibility to do almost all the things you have said in the video and much more from one place so you don't have to remember all the apps where this settings are found. Maybe you'll take a look at it once it's ready. It will have the same look n feel like Windows 11 native apps.
Good luck
All the best in your endeavor. Reply to this message when you are done so we can also try it

Awesome

Please make a video on best apps to have on your new laptop.
I love the new edges on the lenovo. Can you also make a video for AMD laptops and how to cicumvent thundferbolt 3 / 4 and use of USB 4 Also please include any backup tool / recovery
Got a new laptop and the video was helpful.
found it very useful 👍👍
The "Windows 11 Setup" part literally is just a preference.
Dear hardware canucks, I've seen that you can use some samsung tablets as a second screen for your windows pc and laptop. Could you do a video on which devices actually support his feature and what you can do with it?
Thanks a lot !
Last year, I watched the video and it was super helpful. Watching the video and I gotta say, it was super helpful. Especially the "This PC" part is a huge time saver.
nice tips bro, thanks!
Eber telling us the real important things in life....good stuff man.
Yeah man, that was so satisfying to see the right click menu is back
In File Explorer I always change the "Type" column for "File Extension" column, makes it easier to sort by extension. i.e.: exe vs "Application"
JAF thank you for sharing. Wow is amazing!
Lovely advert for Lenovo 🎉
That laptop costs $3150 in Australia, and while I love Lenovo laptops and recommend them, you can’t customise the storage on Lenovos site to go up to 2TB of storage or increase the RAM (not in my country anyway)
Wow, opening file explorer and seeing this PC is a lifesaver :)
Everything is the most practical tool ive ever used, especially compared to absolutely garbage windows search
Keep it up

Superb 😊
Have you heard about modern standby and how problematic it is with the battery when turning off the computer? like i turned off when its at 100% and the next day its like 90%, i think its the modern stanby, or idk but its my new laptop, its a asus vivobook s14 k3402za, i would appreciate if you reply, Thanks
great video

Is there a way for the taskbar windows to not combine?.. like in windows 10, I have ultra wide screen, I like to see the label names when I click on it...
Should I be lowering resolution through windows or in the game settings? My Lenovo legion 5 pro is 2560x1600 but I'm trying to run it at 1920x1080p
Does disabling memory integrity improve video editing performance as well?
A lot of these tips can be applied to lower end PCs as well 🤓
A guy that’s not smart also knows that
I would not recommend turning off sounds and notifications altogether. Just disable individual apps notifications that annoy you. You might miss some critical notifications, like, what's the point for recommending a third-party antivirus but blocking all the notifications, you won't get any warning about potential risky/harmful apps can you?
I would love to install more apps, but Windows Store won't let me turn off S Mode. Keeps having an error on their end when I try to deactivate or download something from the store.
Maximium Performacium 🤘
Thanks, this is helpful!
+100 points ... im upgrading to windows 11 now oops i forgot i have a 4th gen cpu lol
this might be an L take but I actually like the taskbar to be in the middle compared to it being in the left side
very L take
🤢
How do I ungroup windows in the taskbar for Win11?
You said an antivirus software is essential. I just moved back to windows after 10 years on Mac and in my research everything said windows defender is perfectly fine and not to instal an antivirus software as it’ll mostly just be bloatware and slow your pc down. What are your thoughts?
You are absolutely right. Defender has 4.5/5 stars in malware detection.
Antivirus= Bloat win defender is already sucking up kike 200mb of memory
If you only download from official sites and use an ad blocker with fanboy lists you shouldn't need anything, if you're pirating I'd rather something like virus total and use trusted uploaders as much as possible than have antivirus. Windows defender takes the least resources though but if all you care about is getting the most performance and you're cautious you could get away without one.
Loved it
Is it okay for the battery to remain constant while gaming (warzone, Rdr2), or there's something wrong?
You got everything detailed and explained for the most part but it would have been nice if you have mentioned and shown the Ninite app/browser search and install so all the applications you mentioned in the video can be downloaded at the same time rather than searching for all applications one at a time on the internet browser.
4:22 YOU LEGEND!
What are the performance differences between Nvidia gaming and studio drivers, for those of us who work and play on the same machines?
One of the graphic designers at my work said they were getting error in after effects because I installed the studio drivers. So I replaced the studio drivers wit the gaming drivers and the error went away.
I've also heard about gaming drivers being better for studio apps too, errors and glitches with the proper driver, it makes no sense.
@@Realism91 down load both drivers and swap back and forth no problems
Very good video
Awesome video man it really helped me especially that quick access one 👌🏻🤝🏻🤩
Is your main laptop a MacBook pro/air or a windows?
not sure for normal lenovo, but with legions, i finally ended up use stock windows 11 from microsoft, and for the powerplans i just use the legion toolkit and preload the legion powerplan ( google it ) and wala you don't need lenovo vantage app. for updating the laptop it self, i just went ahead to my legion support page ( by entering your serial number ), bookmark the page, and just click check for any updates or bios. Mainly gaming, i use use the balance legion mode, i dont see the need for high performance mode most of the time, and undervolt the 3070, The only worrying part about my legion is the 11800h is so dang hot :/
My Legion runs 10X better with Fedora on it... screw MS
not every "gamer" on the planet gonna need that kind of operating system on their gaming pc though lol.
@@93SupaFlyAll this bullshit Operating systems like linux and macos are just Dogshit optimized The first OS was Windows and Windows is the best OS for gaming everyone say Linux is better but Linux is bullshit for gaming

Hi! May I ask why you use Media Player Classic over VLC?
Yeah, the website clearly says to use something else since it is not in active development.
These are very useful, especially for those of us who are just starting the usually costly and involving tech journey. Thanks!
For a better video player use mpv.
You don't need to discharge your battery, just keep it closer to ~55%
disabling from startup alone isn't enough anymore. some ahole companies like google like to add task schedulers to start their apps and background processes. disable them in task scheduler too
Hello. Very useful tips and tricks. One question though. I have the lenovo IP5 pro. Every time I open the lid of my laptop, it boots up. Without pressing the power button. How can I disable that? I searched everywhere and I can't find this option. Thank you in advance. Greetings from Athens, Greece. 🙂
Check the power botton setting. Your laptop might just be hibernating when you shut down.

I don't know how to set the Desktop folder to be a local folder like it was in pre-11 versions of Windows. Is this even possible in Windows 11? Or does Microsoft now just force everyone to have their Desktop folder on OneDrive, with no settings to change this? Please advise. Thank you.
I especially liked the "No Sound" option. Forgot to mention ShutUp10++.
Found the Windows hater who uses MacOS.
I am in Windows 10 but I'm worried about constantly updating Windows since there was that time where Microsoft automatically made devices update to Windows 10 without user's knowing about it. Is it still safe to update Windows? I only update security patches for now
I have a Question, I am currently Using Asus Vivobook M1403QA Laptop Ryzen 7 5800H with integrated Graphics. Do i need to install the latest driver update on the official amd website or just stick to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's Driver ? Because the original drivers has Display problems, and if i Install the latest version of the Amd drivers Chromium based Browser when i play youtube fullscreen with subtitles has Display issues ( like when I enable the subtitle it Shakes for some reason ).
