  • A tip for people learning german, look at only the english subs first, and then watch only using the German subs and then watch using only hearing. ;)

    • Fox Rintala good tip! I figure I'll go through and pick out words I don't know, add them to my vocabulary list, then try watching again without subs!

    • Interesting. I listen first (only hearing)... then maybe a second time if it was zzzuuupafast, then I read the German subtitles (because in my mind German and English are more closely linked than not)... and then finally I check to see whether my guess was correct based on the English subtitles. In other words, for me, it's most important to listen to the person and the sounds and body language... then only after I see how they said it, and hear the way they pronounced it do I focus on the subtitles..... because I think you have to --first-- listen with your "eyes." That is... 'how does someone say "ahm," or "also" or "machst" or "nein," etc. hmmm

  • I actually like that it is at a fast speed. An important part of learning any language is being able to listen and speak. It is taught far too slow. It is good to get an ear for how people really speak. Thanks for the video! Really good comprehensible input!

  • in school we learn 'hochdeutsch', and my german friends say that no one really speaks that anymore, for example in the video, they say the word 'shoppen' as 'shopping', but in school we learn it as 'einkaufen'. i wish our schools taught real german :)

    @aitken@aitken8 жыл бұрын
    • +aitken. CS GO, ROCKET LEAGUE AND MORE FUNNY MOMENTS! actually we use 'shoppen' more for getting new clothes and 'einkaufen' mostly for food. But 'einkaufen' is the correct way to say it, if you use 'shoppen' exspecially older people might be confused..

    • 레아 i talked to my friend from germany and i took a picture of some german homework i got, and he said it's really nothing like they speak in real life.

      @aitken@aitken8 жыл бұрын
    • Of course we all have our own dialects here in Germany but I as a native German can say that it's absolutely correct what they teach. You need to learn 'Hochdeutsch' first and after a few years you maybe can get the differences between Hochdeutsch and our Alltagssprache^^

      @Lea-cq9lb@Lea-cq9lb8 жыл бұрын
    • „Einkaufen“ is real german! „Shoppen“ is an English word that’s only used by teenagers. Pls keep saying einkaufen! English words are cancer for the german language!

If it is: "Hobby" or "Was machst du hier?" try not to ask too many questions on completely different topics, for example the future. Can`t wait to watch the next episode :)

I do appreciate that correct word order is quite important in written German but perhaps not so much in spoken German. And of course, these videos are there to teach us beginners how real German is actually spoken in Germany (which is different to text book German). I think the videos are just excellent. Thanks again for your explanation.
