A night time ride aboard CT 1991 Motor Coach Industries - MCI Classic TC40-102N #5006. Drivetrain is the Detroit Diesel 6V92TA and the Allison VR731 transmission.
When I was a kid I’d ride the city bus an hour each way to school and back. The sounds of this video makes me so sleepy because I’d always fall asleep on that bus!
Best acceleration at 4:27
Holy smokes im having chills when he floors it
Now THIS is how I like a Classic to sound! Excellent, deep, throaty New Look-style grumble...oh yes! I am satisfied!
+TheCRTman This bus sounds likes it's going to kick a Xcelsior's ass.
Wrong one. It sounds like it's about to tear the LFS a new one for replacing it, displacing its older sibling, and never coming with Detroit options.
It sounds similar to a rts bus with that same engine
Automatically
Genuine Diesel Power
I remember when DDOT Detroit Department Of Transportation and Windsor Canada had these GM MCI RTS transit buses.
ZOMG!! Best 6V92 I've heard in years!!! 5 stars!
. listen to how she purrs........best 5k i ever spent kzhead.info/sun/jLecf5SwgH2jaK8/bejne.html
If our buses were like this i'd take the bus very often, the buses we have are electric and hybrid start-stop wank with a couple of nice old MAN lions city buses still operating
oh man this thing sounds just like the stm classics!
Alex Hood hey bud

You better drive! *faints* I'm back!
Ya like that one, do you!?
You better know it! Nothing better than a good shifting bus and an operator who knows how to drive it
Yes, The Classics were a fairly light model like their Fishbowls model.
I know this is late, but what about in relation to the RTS?
@@sonicboy678 The original replacement for the Fishbowls was the RTS, but they weren't popular in Canada. They then introduced the Classic. Think of them as siblings
Ain't nothing but the truth yes sir 🥇🥇🥇🥇
NFTA had these for 11-13 years before they suddenly disappeared! To this day I'm still wondering what happened!
Calgary transit?
REploaded Detroit Diesel 6V92TA Turbocharged Transmission Alison VR731
Nice video. I wonder how he/she makes 3rd gear rev higher then go into overdrive.
The NFTA 1993 new flyer d40hfs have the same engine as this but don't sound the same when at a stop
Probably a different transmission then?
@@ianrobertsonpiano probably. but the engine itself has a higher idle while at a stop then the engine on this bus. kzhead.info/sun/lamhh9CujHingWw/bejne.html
Sounds kinda of like a rts bus
Same engine
@@imgursdownvote4love771 Similar transmission, too.
@@busforcejesus And the same manufacturers, MTS notwithstanding...
is that bus still in service?
recently retired
are there any the classics still in service?
Well this bus is currently in service over in Gatineau as #9134
@@GMC6523 in Calgary, Spruce Meadows shuttle. In Alberta, Cold Lake. Also in Saskatoon and Gatineau. All except for Spruce Meadows and Saskatoon (#449 only) are ex-Calgary
Ok
Is that a zf transmission anyone ?
Check the description of the video where it is noted for the engine and transmission models. Thanks.
Where's A Time Machine When You Need One. I Hate Hybrid Buses. Too Quiet For Starters and No Gear Changes After 2nd. That Sucks. Detroit Diesel If You Still Exist, Please Bring Back These 2 Dominating Engines And The Louder The Better.
