На казахском языке слово "Арлан" имеет сразу несколько прямых и образных переводов: так называют крупных волков, свирепых и сильных хищников, а иносказательно - Арланом было принято называть батыра, который силён в бою и не даёт спуска сопернику.
Сегодня бойцы ПСН МВД РК "Арлан" входят в элиту казахстанских отрядов особого назначения, среди которых числятся армейские "спецы" и сотрудники спецподразделения "Арыстан" КНБ РК.
