  • When it comes to DC chargers and power supplies, never assume that the striped wire is + or - as it actually varies quite a lot. All the conductors that I connect to my bench power supply are labelled with the specific meaning of the stripe as it relates to that particular instance, thereby saving any confusion. The labels are simple, just a bit of paper with (for example) "Stripe = +" written on it, then placed between some clear tape which is looped around the conductor.

  • Oh 19:07 made me chuckle. Thanks for the video. Keeping it real. I generally find it's best to twist each wire, tin them with solder then bend them, hook them together, squeeze down the gap with pliers and then solder. But heh, that's just me.

    • Definitely not the most complete solder joint. But in the field work I will be more precise. Thanks for watching.

  • Good thank you, now I can solder the esp32 project.

  • Ughh, I was cheap and didnt pay for faster shipping, ordered january 3rd, last update was on the 19th. Im being patient, but I really want it now.

    • I paid for regular shipping too. Took about 2.5 weeks. I learned a lot about patience the whole time. But it’s well worth the wait. Congrats.

    • I feel your pain! I ordered it around the same time, but I literally just got mine (feb 12th). This sucker is awesome and totally worth the wait.

    • Very much. The usb c or dc power choices are great. I just used it the other day and it heated up faster than I had time to pick up the solder roll. Thanks for watching.

  • great video on the pinecil and alligator clip tip. I just ordered one and cant wait to receive. I mainly use to repair old trains as a hobby and tired of waiting for the Weller to heat up, plus the pinecil tips look to be able to make soldering easier then the Weller thicker tips.

  • Thanks for the walkthrough and testing in this video! I just got my pinecil today and needed a quick refresher before using it and this was really helpful.

  • Nice video. Had the exact same soldering irons. Gun style was my dad's too. Battery powered iron would be great when working on car or boat wiring...hate using crimp connectors. Will have to get one of these. Need to make one of those third hands too. Mahalo for sharing! : )

    • The portability is the best part next to fast heat up time. Thanks for watching.

    • There must have been some sale on those old gun style soldering irons back in the early 80s. My dad, and now me, have that exact one as well!

  • Thank you for the good video. Nice soldering tool. I would like to start the iron with a higher temperature. Can you change somehow the default startup temperature from 320°C to 350°C or must you increase it always manually?

    @ampere0124@ampere01242 жыл бұрын
    • You can set it to any temp. I have it set now at 350. Thanks for watching.

  • Did you ever do the firmware update to use higher power with Pd 3.1 type c for 28v 90 watts. By the way I just found your channel and I did subscribe!

    • I have not updated it yet. Do you know if that fixes the power cut out with the pinecle power block? Thanks for watching.

  • I need to solder jump rings on ID lanyards. Would this be appropriate for that? If not, what would be? Im a small time crafter.
