A friend pointed out to me how Purple’s violin “voice” fades in and out during the emotional abstract scene, often drowned behind other instruments. He’s most audible when he’s closest to meeting his dad’s expectations. Beautiful storytelling through the score.
I didn’t notice that
@The ultimate waterboy both
woah. That's some amazing visualization with the music
I kinda thought of a few "lyrics" and the violin at 4:35 would be "I am" and 4:41 "A-lone" Don't know why I made this into a comment
Wait I thought they were a she?
In a story told without words, the burden of storytelling falls heavier on the score and visuals. I think it’s safe to say this score handles the burden with ease, Scott. Thanks again for an absolutely beautiful score.
agreed
Actually there is a video on KZhead where you can see what the Characters say from the first 4 Songs, this Song isn't in the Video.
you said score three times help
@@kelpoiscool Plot twist: they were watching sports while writing this and got excited.
@@plutonium_238 ah. makes sense.
Alan: "Its just a stick figure dont go too hard" This guy:
3:33 the way these notes play and when Green stares at Purple made me kinda tear up. Knowing that Green was always there for purple, but purple didn't care. They were too focused on their goal...
Those three little woodwind notes at 3:33, the part where Green is running past Purple and turns back towards him for a moment... what a beautiful, beautiful touch. That was heart-wrenching.
Yeah, and the little green music notes in the background
"Oh pur-ple.."
“Pine-ap-ple”
he turly cares about him
YEAH GUY- he's like "Oooh purple.."
Dont get me wrong, the music scores in Alan's vids are PHENOMONAL, but I usually I don't go back looking for them. I like to watch them with the video itself, because it all fits together so well. Until this one. I cannot express how much I love that my best description I could come up with for each segment is literally the emotion it was trying to portray. And all of them hit me in the heart. The whole thing is kind of sad, weirdly haunting, like something huge was lost along the line. Like the kind of songs movies use when there are huge, beautiful, ancient ruins that characters are walking through. It fit the video so well, but is also such a genuinely beautiful piece that can fully stand alone, and I love that.
The nicest detail is 4:58, when the violin sounds really shaky, like someone who’s just cried taking a deep breath. Yes, the word is “shaky”.
It's this one and the Pigstep remix in The Ultimate Weapon for me.
Well, after episode 30, they went back to their normal lives, with some weapon and a tribute to technoblade with the crown... But their lives will soon change... A New Beginning will Come...
you said it best there bud
I love how even without the animation, you can still hear the different characters “voices” I also love the part at 4:04
Sameeee
I just love it
1:38 Green’s little squeak when Purple’s yelling is so cute
Wow. At the beginning, it really does feel like Green just keeps pestering Purple. I also love how messy Purple’s violin sounds at the start, but then later on it starts sounding good. I’m guessing that was intentional, I love it
These purpke anoyying violin screch scares me
I like how this episode goes from happy animals zombies and villagers singing to a guy sharing his villain backstory by singing
The combined music when purple is betrayed and then falls down a spiral of his mother's flowers is amazingly done. The build-up just works. It's Purple's breaking point. He's spiraling down back to where he was again. And then he reaches for a petal and it goes away just perfectly capsules how Purple has been completely shattered. He was berayed by his dad and the King, then he betrayed his potential friends and the memory of his mother.
Most people just hear notes, some can't even tell the difference between right and wrong notes. And some people understand this beautiful & universal language. This one doesn't need the video to understand what happens. Absolute masterpiece.
Idu but I understand little but yeah
I don't want to know what alan would be like without you. You spice up his animations until it's perfect. You are a dream team together
Don't forget Aaron
@@HeidenLam and Aaron. Sorry
@@TCB-KZhead it's okay
Aaron got the groovy songs
Only recently did I understand just how artistic a touch it was to use strings... Purple's life has been a series of him trying to pull people's strings while his own are being pulled.
4:28 this part hits me very hard in the soul ❤️🩹
Scott just made the words "emotional roller coaster" into a song. The fact you can capture a tense, sad, and hopeful feel by the end is just so amazingly well done. It fits really well with the animation but I'm really shocked I can still feel the emotion of the scene even without the visuals. Excellent work as always, this just makes me more hyped for the next episode 👍
I haven't seen many people really talk about the beginning here but I want to try and do it justice. The note blocks truly portray the tone of the respective scene beautifully, it fits with the despair and guilt plaguing purple and the confusion green has at that moment. Fantastic job Scott
i love how you chose the violin for purple and when green's clarinet comes back at 3:34 your work is amazing and yours and aaron grooves music made the episode so awesome!
i think that was a flute
I think is piccolo
Wait what that was Green? Ohhhhhh
I just read the description, I think you mean Green pursues Purple, Scott.
Hahaha omg thanks.
What does it say earlier?
@@BlueAquaSN It said Orange instead of Green.
I've never heard anything quite like this before, and I'm completely speechless. The music does such a phenomenal job of conveying the exact emotions of the scene throughout all its narrative shifts, Absolutely blown away!
As per usual, Scott, your music turns everything it touches into gold. I love the way you've conveyed the almost intense emotions that Purple was feeling during their flashback scene. Hats off to you as always 👑
It’s not really a flashback, it’s a metaphor.
Though it may not be a flashback in its entirety, the beginning portion is.
@@443Cosmic Whatever it is, it's beautiful
It's all true Jaysic!
@@JujuStyle7 JUJU! Great minds think alike!! How are you man??
The little bits of violin in the beginning just, get me. Like, they take my soul and crumple it into bits only to mend it back together with Purple’s story-filled song.
For a series with no talking, this is incredibly expressive
5:09 ending on the unresolved chord is how purple feels like he cant get the closure of finding his dad and having that guilt, before green makes purple feel better by resolving that chord for them and telling them that green doesn't want to put purple in the category of "good" or "bad"
I absolutely love the classical instruments blending smoothly with Minecraft note block sounds. (for some reason, 3:34 hit so hard for me)
Those 3 flute notes signify green being there
4:28 to 4:41 is such a beautiful part. If Purple sacrifices himself next episode somehow I would love to see this come back but more orchestral. Well done.
I definitely think Purple might die
@@Frytoons None of the sticks other than TDL (bad guy of ava5) have died permanently, and alan JUST redeemed purple, so I don't think he'll die personally.
@@Jake28 Maybe not die but, I don’t think he’ll stay with the main crew, or be with them for a while.
@@Frytoons I hope King will not try to trick purple by talking about his dad, if he helps and saves him he would let him find his dad. and with those words purple turning on the crew and working for King again.
@@muhammedemirdogan5413 I don't think trusting King is a mistake Purple will make twice.
6:27 bruh this part is awesomely POWERFUL!
This whole score is gorgeous, but "Green Pursues Purple" took my breath away when I first heard it, and listening to it again now, I'm still awestruck at the range of emotions you are able to convey through music alone. Incredible job!
So in a nutshell, Purple had daddy issues and wanted to do everything in his power to be recognized by him.
It might be even more than that. The part with the flower petals (both as they blow away from the grave and while Purple is falling) makes me think that Purple might blame himself for his family falling apart. It might symbolize him thinking that if he had been able to reach his father's expectations, he might not have left, his mother's health might not have deteriorated like it did, and she might still be alive. He was still young when his father left, so he might think the whole thing is his fault.
I think so🤔
@@Gabriel-oq8gs I personally think the flower petals symbolize Purple having no family by his side. They were on his mother's grave, because he was alone once she died (since the father left them), and they do flutter around him when he falls, after King grabs the master block from him - it shows that King had doublecrossed him, even though Purple saw him as a father figure, so Purple once again lost someone he considered like family; not through death or abandonment, but through betrayal. And when he started crying as his father walked away from him, he was once again surrounded by the petals, just driving it home further that he was all by himself, with no family. Then, in the 30th episode, "The King", we get that scene where King is in his house and regrets his actions, and he pounds on the wall and then breaks through it. He then sees Purple again, sitting in that spotlight with the flower petals all around him - the same scene where he was crying in the 29th episode as his father walked away. Then, when King ran up to him and hugged him, the flower petals all blew away, meaning that Purple wouldn't be alone anymore, that he would now have the father figure he so desired. Honestly, it's really just beautiful, the way they come together. King lost his son and wanted him back, and Purple lost his father and longed for a father figure. They were both broken people, but they filled the holes in each other's lives. It works so well.
@@Terrifyger i always thought the petals symbolize how they react to failure/grief. In one scene in the king, Mango has broken glass around him, and purple has petals. The petals could symbolize that purple definitely tries to fix failure, but never goes over his limits, giving up when he is forced to (or just ditches when it happens). The broken glass means mango does not give a flying f about his limits or other precautions, he just wants to “fix” hat happened.
Love the part at 3:52 where you can hear "purples tune" as those 3 main notes. Another thing I noticed is that the term for those notes in music is called a "broken chord" which hits deep knowing that purple is a broken character. Also, in case anyone wants the notes for that. I'm PRETTY sure its c, c#, g#
The entire soundtrack for episode 29 has been strangling me since I've first watched the episode. I can't get over all of the songs at all. Especially Purple's backstory melody? Had me tearing up by the end of it oh my lord, I never thought I'd be so emotional about stick figures until now. Freaking love this, thanks for making such an emotional heartfelt track for this story.
You know it’s a good day when Alan posts and then Scott does just when you want to sit back and enjoy the music
Alan: Ok. Make it really express how broken purple is inside. Scott: Yes.
the animation is already good, and they even added lore?!?!? okay this is beyond beautiful

Nobody said you were allowed to make the music this impactful. But thanks for doing it anyways, this gave me serious goosebumps. great work dude!
I love how when Purple is making the mad face, it sounds almost like a scream. This music honestly made me feel so much and I LOVE IT! Does anyone know if this is on Spotify?
I also love how Kings presence is portrayed through these Bass notes! It makes it feel almost intimidating!
at 4:57 it sounds like hes saying "between bad and good, im bad"
This music made this whole episode my absolute favorite. So much emotions told. The search for answers, new meanings and reconciling what you really are with what you want to be. An absolute geme. I cannot express my gratitude to have heard and witnessed what became of Alan Becker after so many years. Thank you Scott Bucley for taking it to another level
"An emotional journey" Reminds me a lot of the Celeste ost with the arpeggiated backing! It's really beautiful and sells the emotion!
Omg it DOES!
Imo Green pursues purple reminds me more of celeste, but still! Your right!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this comment right there looks AI generated
I remember being annoyed in literature classes seeing the teacher overanalyze every little detail and interpreting it as if it contributed to the final point, works such as these make me understand the sentiment behind such appreciation
I don't know which came first, the animation or the music. They just fit together so well that it's hard to know which one is based on the other.
I know, right?
i have never been familiar with your work before this, but i am absolutely speechless. the emotions that you're able to convey... truly magnificent. not very often do i hear something that is soo deep on so many levels. thank you thank you thank you.
Aaron Grooves did perfect in the first half. The first half of the music perfectly describes the music world Green went into and it fits. The second half is also perfect. The second half music describes the situation and the reason of Purple’s actions to make up for no words. As the saying actions speak louder than words is very true for what Purple did. The music score does deserve a rating of 20/10 for Aaron Grooves part and your part.

3:34 I love this flute part or greens voice, this is just a short part of music, I like so much

Like everyone has probably said, phenomenal music, scott, always makes me feel the shivers! Thank you scott, for this piece of art.
3:33 This part always gets me bro, those 3 notes are the best thing I've ever heard
Stunning, emotional and heart touching... An art without voices, that leave us speechless

Aaron Grooves and Scott Buckley is a crossover I never knew I needed Also I noticed that at 3:34 when Green does his lil wood wind thing. That's not in purples song. That's green in real time saying that and it's just so artistically represented in the song that it makes people think he said that in purples song

green pursuing purple and the music is like it's telling a story, a story of pain and sadness about a certain mystery and something is finally learned about this mystery.
Everybody gangsta till the characters stop being restricted to 2 dimensions
I love characters with backstories like purple where at the start of everything thwy just seem like there just a normal bad guy but then when they tell their stories and then they would've been misunderstood throughout the entire thing but when they redeem themselves everyone understands why they did what they did
I just came from the episode, the music did such a good job in helping to tell the story and convey the emotions we're meant to be feeling, keep up the amazing work!
This is the best music ive ever heard in animation vs Minecraft, that a single tear fell into my eyes
The fact that he used the built in game instruments to make it fit the minecraft genre, especially A journey ends is a bop only using different instruments within the game itself. I find that pretty clever and adds detail to the story to make it more moody
This is ridiculously good. Haven't seen a vid make me so speechless since...maybe space with mark? Phenomenal work.
cant wait for the 30th episode if we're talking about this kind of quality
I love and appreciate good visuals and music, but both your music, Aarons music and Alans' teams animation are beyond praise by themselves, and don't even get me started on when combined. It blows my mind everytime I listen to the score, every heartfelt emotion, every string instrument, every bellow of brass. I will forever enjoy the work you, Aaron and Alan all do, because it's beyond perfect.
As a fellow musician who also likes to write orchestral cinematic music, the key of C# minor is quite powerful in my opinion, so it was a great choice for 'An emotional journey'. If I knew how to play the clarinet or violin I'd definitely give this a shot. Also, fun fact: in the animation, the G# at 3:07 (played by the trombones) behind Dark Blue, is actually correct, if there was a bass clef and the key signature on the left Great work as always, excited to see what you've made for episode 30!
Every minor key has the same sound on twelve tone equal temperament. So much for being a musician lol
Dude, this is amazing! Even without the visuals, it is still incredibly clear what the emotions of the scene are. Great work!
I've listened to it 121 times and still love it! every time I listen to the little details

This isn't just random stick figures, THIS IS ART.
This soundtrack makes this episode my favorite from the entire series. Amazing job!
I like this transition to 6:28, where the author shows that the purple king is not afraid of what power the king has, he fulfills a holy purpose, unlike the others who evaluated the power of the king (sorry for the google translator)

You really blew it out of the park on this one. I love how the music conveys just as much story telling as words could, if not even more.
The amount of emotion I feel listening to this music along with the stunning animation for the story is so powerful. Episode 29, especially this part, is my absolute favourite and makes me love these videos and everyone who works on them even more. They’re about stick figures! But I still find myself, crying, feeling amazed, excited, surprised, constantly thinking about the content and what will happen in future episodes. These make me so happy and I will never stop enjoying and appreciating the work that’s put into everything❤️❤️
1:50 till the finish of purples story share pt.1 always makes me cry in the end It's sad how purple life started nice Till his father changed After fighting with his son he left because he was to harsh And after he left he tried to live with his mother to take care of her to make sure her life was great But it didn't work well in the end(because it seemed like she was getting hurt while time passes and it seems she didn't look in the high spirits) And it's sad to see that imagery where purple held his mother in his arms as she passed away from sadness and pain and it hurt more the fact that he had to bury the body of his mother Always makes me cry hard cus that story is just pure sad And the music just makes it more sad and more heartbreaking Fantastic work I will say Well done indeed
the work you do is incredible!!! Congrats!!
Jeez Louise man, every note of this is absolutely phenomenal...I'm not saying anything that others haven't said more eloquently but I have to express my own love for this series of music. The first section, where Green pursues Purple, absolutely put me back in the frame of mind of classic gaming from the 90s and 2000s, chasing after bad guys in a sunset desert backdrop, just like here in AVM. The mix of the low-level intensity of the synth backbeat with the analog clarinet and strings over the top conveyed the emotions well. Green, part of the squad of eternal optimists, trying to reach through to someone who's literally left him for dead on multiple occasions...and Purple's outburst is just excellent. Then, as he's telling the story of his life, and he recounts losing his mother, and only having his tyrant of a father to follow in the footsteps of, the unsureness of his own "voice" is so wonderful, it conveys so much while saying so little. But I think the true piece de resistance of the entire medley is the reconciliation on the mountaintop. Purple is at his lowest, finally realizing how his actions have affected everyone around him. His heart breaks as the strings crack and weep for him. But, as Green reassures him and the music swells...the chord as he puts on the wings and steels his resolve...that's what finally made the tears flow for me. The arpeggio of the rising strings into the IV chord... that's gotta be scientifically-proven to be, like, a Pixar chord or something. If you didn't get chills or goosebumps at all when hearing that chord, I've gotta question your humanity lol. Seriously! Even typing about it and hearing it in my mind, I'm getting chills. It's an *incredibly* well-written piece for a video series that now, thanks to your work, punches *far* above "just a silly internet video". This is incredible. Bravo!
OH SO IT WAS WRITTEN SPECIFICALLY FOR ANIMATION VS. MINECRAFT? This is AMAZING. I wish I could write compositions like this! это очень круто
This is the first song that actually gave me chills. Well done man.
This is so beautiful, It really shows Purples struggles really well!
So I was listening to this in a Playlist while writing, and without the visuals it really spun an image in my mind and inspired me to make a whole new scene I never considered before. Amazing work through music alone.
we all thought that purple was evil until we saw his dark backstory that tricked him into believing with the king just to use him . even tho i saw that he was the ‘bad guy’ i still liked purple . he worked so hard just for his dad to come back and he got betrayed *again*
What a Gorman roller coaster going from funny Minecraft animals to stickman child abuse
Can we get these as separate track uploads? A version of "Green pursues Purple" without the high pitched flute notes+violin would also be awesome to have. Great stuff.
