We sat down with Paul Mescal and his AFTERSUN co-star Frankie Corio to play a game of Snack Wars, where they were comparing British and Irish snacks.
Paul introduced Frankie to some Irish snacks, including a Tayto sandwich and Ballymaloe Relish, and both weren't fans of an iconic British spread!
AFTERSUN is in cinemas from Friday 18th November.

Please make joe alwyn do this snack war
@@angelaleon7372 do you think he would try this (haggis, stew🤢🤮)??? I am not sure because it really looked like dog food🙄 Even that I don't know Paul or Joe(I only know them from interviews here on YT). I think Paul is more into jokes than Joe, Joe seemed to take life much more serious. But I found both 2 beautiful men.
Paul is such a dad “just eat it over the plate”
OMG it was the first thing I noticed!
I was going commenting this!!!
He literally played her father in Aftersun
I know right? Him already offering his hand before she can even ask him to open it!
@@BempizillaNot gonna lie, I first thought that they were both playing siblings instead they played father and daughter lol
Watching this after the movie is like therapy
i was literally thinking this while watching it. movie hit me so hard, its great to see these two happy and existing outside of that heartbreaking but beautiful story
Man, this video save me❤
Yeah, it was really painful watching the latter half
more like you'll need therapy after watching it
YES OMG
Him wiping the crumbs off her pants was such a dad move lol and also them drinking after each other like no big deal. They’re adorable 🥹
the sibling energy is insane
@@davburns5454 wtf
@@davburns5454 what the fuck
@@davburns5454 you're projecting
Seems like most people are disagreeing but I’m 17 years older than my little sister and definitely there is a similar energy. I even kept thinking about her through the movie. I guess most people have sibling around their age, which I also do, so they can’t relate to that.
@@matheusp572 I can definitely see the older sibling younger sibling energy. My brother is 12 years older than me and this is definitely something I can relate to. When the age difference is that big it's like having a young parent - but also someone you can mess with. Like how they're pulling each other's leg the whole time but also sweet things like how Paul brushes the crumbs of her pants before the next course or opens the can or tells her to eat over the plate.
paul making frankie’s food for her, wiping crumbs off her pants, opening stuff for her without a second thought, also “eat it over the plate”….he’s such a dad omg
Real ❤
She coming in with that hyperactive, teenybopper energy and he giving of that chill dad vibe, trying to calm her down and educate her is really cute to watch.
Marmite is from burton in England
Paul really came for LadBible's neck lmaooo top notch Irish behaviour
he’s so salty about the budget and taste it’s so funnnny
It's like watching the extended version of Aftersun hahaha
For real it feels like it and I cried at the end
I genuinely believe Aftersun would not have been as strong of a film if these two had not spent a few weeks prior to filming just getting to know one another. It evokes a natural chemistry that can only come from real, unscripted experiences, and it helped bolster the relationship between these two that we see throughout the film. They’re acting during the film, obviously, but it comes across as so effortlessly natural because that bond has already been established beforehand. It was an incredibly smart decision on Charlotte Wells’ part.
The fact that they ate from each other's utensils, drank from each other's cans, all while being helpful towards each other is the best father daughter bond created by non related actors ever! There chemistry is through the roof and I love it! 😭 So wholesome!!
ok this whole video is so adorable but when Paul brushed away the crumbs on Frankie's pants it was too much to take 2:58
Their chemistry is everything. They were so good in the film!
Legit thought their Aftersun characters were brothers and sisters but instead it's father and daughter lol
isn’t she 13
Congrats to Paul on his first Oscar nomination. Frankie is so adorable. I love Aftersun so much.
The way he brushes the crumbs off her legs 💜
ayo?
@@JasmineTeaEnjoyershut up it's adorable parent little thing
Man, watching this interview, it's no wonder they both broke my heart in Aftersun. Their ease with one another is obvious. Even here they have so much father-daughter energy, with him brushing crumbs off her pants and Frankie being giggly and hyper and daring him to eat the gross food. It's no wonder they were both so natural in the movie, and that's what made it so sad in the end. Another commenter mentioned this but watching this interview is a good palate cleanser after the movie. Paul absolutely deserves his oscar nom, and Frankie completely blew me away as well. I hope she has a long career. Also, good lord the UK has horrible snacks. 😭
Paul is absolutely correct - haggis out of a can is ... not something one would choose to eat. Proper haggis is, however, delicious - when it's hot. Same for stew. Very cut-price affair, this!
Aww the girl is so smiley and cute , love how Paul's taking care of her
Why is this sooo adorable 😍
PLEASE they're such precious lil beans 🥺😭💖
Such a great father - daughter relationship
paul refuse to eat that give the same energy as Calum refuse to sing karaoke in the movie. He was like im not doing it xd
Loved after sun watching it at London film festival can’t wait to see it again next week!! These two are adorable
I LOVE THEIR RELATIONSHIP. I've just watched the movie yesterday and I cried so much. It was a beautiful and sad movie at the same time 😭🖤
so glad aftersun is finally screening in the philippines soon, been waiting to watch these two on the big screen !! though im not prepared to have my heart completely shattered again, it still hasnt healed from the first time i saw the film
They're adorable together. Can't wait to see AFTERSUN.
Bring a box of tissues with you. Aftersun will hit you like a brick!
Prepare for your heart to be destroyed
I love how it seems like they are actually father and daughter
In the movie, Paul acting like father is amazing, but here in the video is like a big brother. It's insane! Hahahahaha.
this is too adorable i can't
they are just so precious together
Thank god this exist to help you recover from Aftersun
I hear ya! Pain
watching this to cheer me up and pretend i dont want to die after watching this movie
After watching the movie this video just pulls on your heartstrings.
This was so much fun to watch, love them. ♥️
The dad vibes Paul is giving off in this. "Just eat it over the plate." Brushing crumbs off her leg. "Can I make a spoon for you?" "That's...use VERY sparingly!" Opening the cans and jars for her. "When the cameras turn off, we will fight to the death." My actual heart, they are so cute.
Yes, I'm in love with this man
if she was a little bit older, she could’ve played such a good ellie in the last of us
This is so great ahaha. They're so adorable!
I will never not sob seeing these two together. The happier I see them, the harder I weep.
I'm Irish, and Taytos are the best snack in the world.💖🇮🇪
Definitely made with batch bread 🍞 and kerry gold butter ❤
@@phniox3636 Exactly! It has to be Kerrygold butter.
*second best snack after Northern Irish Taytos ;)
@@callumdoherty7204 Hi. Are Northern Irish Taytos different to our Taytos? Or is it just that they are made in Northern Ireland now? I lived in London years ago, and Taytos were not available. They had King crisps, which were a very poor substitute, in my humble opinion. I rarely eat Taytos any more, but Cheese and Onion Taytos on batch with Kerrygold butter are sinfully good.😂
Aww the chemistry so showing
Okay well Frankie is adorable
2:59 such major dad/sibling vibes istg he took that aftersun role to HEART 😭😭
Watched at least 3 dozen of these, and never once have I seen a person who either had heard of gentleman's relish or had tasted it before
It's nice if you like anchovies definitely not for everyone, was more popular decades ago
Yeah I've never heard of it before, but I'm only 33 I'm guessing it's something the older generation had? Not gonna lie I'm gonna buy some if I see it in the shops now cuz I'm curious
It's definitely not something I'd know as a Scottish person, so I'm not surprised Frankie didn't know it either, regardless of her age.
after seeing the movie which is so incredible i could pretty much watch a pre equal of its where they just eat cereal and toast and watch tv in an apartment. the power of that film is it just reminded me of weekends at dads.
he is so warm and cozy
also as someone from belfast, it wrecks me whenever they do crisp sandwiches and the bread is never buttered
Not Irish but Yes!!! You couldn't enjoy it because the dryness of both foods would just stick to your mouth
As someone from Scotland I agree although we do call it a piece and crisps
@HAnnaHx3100 Our sound cousins who understand each other.
I think most of Ireland would agree.
Thank god their chemistry IRL is great. It is such a relief after watching aftersun
What a SENSATIONAL MOVIE! Both Paul and Frankie give such amazing performances. It would be extremely unfair if this film doesn’t get at least nominated for Best Film at the Oscars.
their friendship is so cute 🥺
Paul it’s so cute (like brother or dad) with Frankie
it's like watching Jim from the office interact with Kevin's stepdaughter
They're so cute. The way he brushed the crumbs off her trousers. And opened the jar and can for her.
love them 🥹
ladbible, you need to start picking NEW snacks (and better snacks too)
aye, they're doing the UK dirty in fairness
Yep
Love paul just coming for lad bibles budget lol
This is like an appendix to the movie, it should be played as credits roll.
Frankie was brilliant in Aftersun, really an amazing film
Definitely should have done Scotland vs Ireland instead of the UK 🏴
@@nirish25 I’m fully aware of that but they could have just done all Scottish products plus most of us in Scotland don’t particularly want to be part of the UK :)
@@louisemclaughlin4368 except your country voted against independence. Why? Because you know full well that financially you'd be screwed without the rest of the UK. But hey, if it ever does happen, enjoy paying for your own education
@@dellzincht yeah cause England is currently in the best financial position lol. The UK is currently facing its longest recession ever and this is mainly due to a Tory lead government that Scotland hasn’t voted for since 1959. For 63 years Scotland has been forced to live with a government that we did not choose. It’s meant to be a democracy. Scotland also voted against independence in 2014 mainly due to a long list of promises from the “no” campaign which have now been proven to be false promises. When Thatcher was in power she also decided to steel 6 of Scotland oil rigs and put them under English jurisdiction to remove value from Scotland. We are sick of not having our voices heard when it comes to our own country 🏴
@@louisemclaughlin4368 Sturgeon and the SNP couldnt even manage a contract for a couple of ferries. The MOST basic of tasks. Hundreds of MILIIONS over budget. If it wasn't reported on the news no one would ever believe it possible.
@@cmcc3721 would you like me to give you a list of all the false promises the “no” campaign gave?
this film made me cry so much
Irn-Bru is the greatest hangover cure in the universe. That can saves lives.
He’ll be such a good partner and parent
The haggis can actually has been open since Louis Tomlinson’s episode
The matching outfits 🥹
He’s adorable 😭
Ooooh this man has my heart
here after the well deserved oscar nom!!!!!
Paul is so bloody cute
Wow! He's changed and morphed over a year!
We need a movie with Paul Mescal, Daisy Edgar Jones, and Frankie Corio.
this is lovely!
Can LADbible for ONCE serve hot toast to their guests??
Irish stew in a tin?! Lads, come on
they’re matching 🥹
Honestly she could have gotten an Oscar nomination as well. Wow, she is very talented. And Mescal was absolutely devastating.
If I don't get Dad Paul under my Christmas tree, I'm going to be so mad.
Adorable
it's the matching outfits for meee
How come I didn’t watch this?! And I love Aftersun!!
Saved by the captions
The video i didn't know I NEEDED
This made me crave a rock shandy
no he really is such a dad to her omg
Paul making a spoon for Frankie was so sweet.
This almost made me cry
Love her accent
random question: why are they wearing the same outfit? edit: oh they talk about it at the end lmao
A crisp sandwich without butter? Pauls right they really do be skimping on the budget! At least we get some vindication with the rock shandy. It's a great fizzy drink. Also, stew and haggis from a damn can? Yuck.
Paul is so stressed lol
i watched this as if paul was babysitting
god okay, just watched aftersun… now i get it.
Awesome
frankie is so cute
‘Said the actress to the Bishop’
They're so cute together
Give me a TV show The Last of Us with an older Paul Mescal and that exact Frankie.
Haggis (also veggie haggis), fried egg, tattie scone, ketchup, on a white buttered roll. Delish!
Veggie haggis, is it even haggis 😂
Yea, just minus all the innards 😂
@@gwenhunter8454 Not haggis then 😂
You put crisps on a bread??? Omg I can't I can't .......
They're fun
Omg yes
What a cute kid 😂 I wanted to check out the star of the new Gladiator movie!
