How to make the worst battlefield game ever - Throw out the unique, beloved, and time proven battlefield formula. - implement a hero shooter formula instead - go all in on skins and microtransactions at the expense of overall content. - make sure the game is not competitive by removing the scoreboard and nerfing the point system. - make sure people can't play on their favorite maps or select map size etc (no server browser). - make sure people can't communicate with each other (no voip or all-chat) -kill the immersion by making everyone look exactly the same, like clones, and add cringey voicelines on top just to make sure the immersion is really dead. - make the maps too big and empty, with no destruction. -make sure there are very few weapons and little customization options. -dumb down wehicle mechanics so that there's no skill needed to operate them, and therefore also no reward associsted with mastering them. - add tons of bugs

Definitely, the thing for me tho is this - I played bf3 to death, I stopped playing the game at a point because it no longer gave me excitement, and I think after a quick nostalgia fix in Portal I’ll still feel the same. We move on from some games for a reason, and I’m happy we get to have a bash on these old maps again but I am glad this isn’t the core to bf2042 and just something people can jump into for some nostalgic fun.

Hell yeah. 3rd person feels impersonal and takes you out of the game imo. First person makes you feel like a soldier. Third person makes you feel like an action movie star.

100% agree. Battlefields classic 1st person takedowns were one of my favorite features. They felt so visceral and immersive. It was so satisfying to pull it off and so terrifying when it happened to you. These 3rd person kills fell janky and immersion breaking especially when u get Borris killing Borris. It’s not game breaking or anything it’s just objectively such a downgrade

It feels more impactful! Seeing someone get stabbed in the throat in third person makes it seem like you’re not playing, and that you’re playing an operator who your imitating. First person feels gritty and like you’re stabbing the person

They can’t because all good developers from dice quit. Most of them who worked on bf3,bf4, bf1 and some from bf5 are gone. ;) they got their own company called Embark Studios Are working on two games, one is f2p (arc riders) and other one is fps :)

bought a new xbox just for this release all of my old competitive BF4 squad was gonna come back since you were going back to the roots we were all top of the bf4 stats on defuse... we were very excited to come back and game together after so many years.. but after about a hour of 2042 we were done

It's funny, the only two bad pre-order experiences I've had were BF4 and 2042. AT LEAST BF4 HAD A GOOD GAME CORE AND WAS ACTUALLY A BATTLEFIELD GAME! And it had long update/content support!

Yeah thats such a nice detail. That actually makes these battles feel oddly immersive. It doesnt feel like they are just assets placed into the level creator. It really does feel like these 2042 soldiers just came with some time travel machine to WW2 and fought against WW2 soldiers.

You mean the memories where the Russians would spawn trap the American spawn and every Russian heavy vehicles was laser designating the Americans while the Russian engineers were using stingers/Iglas and javelins to completely obliterate everything that attempt to leave their carrier. This game mode alone should have been the next main game of the series, and no fancy title like "universe" or "ultimate" just simply ""Battlefield Portal". With all the game modes, guns, gadgets, vehicles, and maps from Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2 and 1943. Plus adding other titles like Battlefield 1, Hardline, 2142 Battlefield 4, Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Bad Company 1. They would literally had 5+ years of content and if they wanted to add a new title all they needed to do is build it and add it as dlc.

OG classes weren't perfect either. They were right to unbind certain weapons from classes. I can understand the Snipers and LMG's to an extent though.

How to make the worst battlefield game ever - Throw out the unique, beloved, and time proven battlefield formula. - implement a hero shooter formula instead - go all in on skins and microtransactions at the expense of overall content. - make sure the game is not competitive by removing the scoreboard and nerfing the point system. - make sure people can't play on their favorite maps or select map size etc (no server browser). - make sure people can't communicate with each other (no voip or all-chat) -kill the immersion by making everyone look exactly the same, like clones, and add cringey voicelines on top just to make sure the immersion is really dead. - make the maps too big and empty, with no destruction. -make sure there are very few weapons and little customization options. -dumb down wehicle mechanics so that there's no skill needed to operate them, and therefore also no reward associsted with mastering them. - add tons of bugs

Definitely, the thing for me tho is this - I played bf3 to death, I stopped playing the game at a point because it no longer gave me excitement, and I think after a quick nostalgia fix in Portal I’ll still feel the same. We move on from some games for a reason, and I’m happy we get to have a bash on these old maps again but I am glad this isn’t the core to bf2042 and just something people can jump into for some nostalgic fun.

Bring back first person melee. Something about looking into the enemies eyes when you knife them is far more satisfying than a third person takedown.
Hell yeah. 3rd person feels impersonal and takes you out of the game imo. First person makes you feel like a soldier. Third person makes you feel like an action movie star.
100% agree. Battlefields classic 1st person takedowns were one of my favorite features. They felt so visceral and immersive. It was so satisfying to pull it off and so terrifying when it happened to you. These 3rd person kills fell janky and immersion breaking especially when u get Borris killing Borris. It’s not game breaking or anything it’s just objectively such a downgrade
It feels more impactful! Seeing someone get stabbed in the throat in third person makes it seem like you’re not playing, and that you’re playing an operator who your imitating. First person feels gritty and like you’re stabbing the person

bought a new xbox just for this release all of my old competitive BF4 squad was gonna come back since you were going back to the roots we were all top of the bf4 stats on defuse... we were very excited to come back and game together after so many years.. but after about a hour of 2042 we were done
Took a friend and I am hour as well before we turned it off and agreed it was a waste of money. Tried paying BF4 after but we were so annoyed by 2042 we didn't last long in there either. This game is just trash.
It's funny, the only two bad pre-order experiences I've had were BF4 and 2042. AT LEAST BF4 HAD A GOOD GAME CORE AND WAS ACTUALLY A BATTLEFIELD GAME! And it had long update/content support!

Haven't "flown" a B-17since....God, I can't remember. Maybe, a very old flight Sim called "Jane's WWII Fighters" on PC. And Battlefield of all things is going to get me back in the pilot's seat of one of those beasts. Can't wait.

Yeah thats such a nice detail. That actually makes these battles feel oddly immersive. It doesnt feel like they are just assets placed into the level creator. It really does feel like these 2042 soldiers just came with some time travel machine to WW2 and fought against WW2 soldiers.

You mean the memories where the Russians would spawn trap the American spawn and every Russian heavy vehicles was laser designating the Americans while the Russian engineers were using stingers/Iglas and javelins to completely obliterate everything that attempt to leave their carrier. Portal is the safty net if specialists didn't work out lol. Still, I'm pretty happy this is in. Its like 4 games in one and I'm totally going to relive BFBC2 again with the chaos of 128 player matches.

@@TheRealScurred it means, Battlefield (BF) and Bad Company 2 (BC2, a sort of spinoff) have the ability to fight eachother. Like time travel. You can have tanks from the modern setting that BC2 fighting futuristic helicopters from BF 2042.

This game mode alone should have been the next main game of the series, and no fancy title like "universe" or "ultimate" just simply ""Battlefield Portal". With all the game modes, guns, gadgets, vehicles, and maps from Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2 and 1943. Plus adding other titles like Battlefield 1, Hardline, 2142 Battlefield 4, Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Bad Company 1. They would literally had 5+ years of content and if they wanted to add a new title all they needed to do is build it and add it as dlc.
