Israel Adesanya doesn’t care about Jon Jones comparisons | ESPN

Israel “The Last Stylebender” Adesanya speaks with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto about his impressive victory against Brad Tavaras at The Ultimate Fighter Finale. When asked about being compared to Jon Jones, Adesanya says “he’s just out here living” his best life. He describes his mellow celebration in his hotel room, but may “live like the Romans do” in Las Vegas after his teammate Dan Hooker won at UFC 226.

    • i like his confidence,it seems natural,being a bit cocky makes it more interesting and entertaining,i don't like mayweather's style of flashy self obsessed narcissistic arrogance that when they ask him a question about a certain fighter,he always has to make it about him self,or always mentions how much money he makes,i don't think anyone would enjoy hanging out with him if he didn't have any money....

  • The fact that he outclassed Brad Tavares who is NO SLOUCH just earned my respect even more. This dude is deadly and the haters will think he's the next Conor McGregor hoping he fights a "strong wrestler", but make no mistake. This guy is confident in his abilities and when he says he'll take out anyone in the division that is genuine belief.

Still an awesome exciting fighter but he will struggle against high level grapplers much like Michael Page

      @Carlito_Brigante@Carlito_Brigante5 жыл бұрын

  • He can’t be compared to Jon Jones, because The Stylebender’s striking is world class Muay Thai. It doesn’t get any better than that folks. He fought at the highest level of kickboxing and only lost four times. I’m not saying Jon is not a high level striker by any means. It just two totally different fighting styles. It’s kind of like comparing Kobe to LeBron. It’s hard because they play different positions.

What they do the same is use their leverage. This fellow is incredibly fast. Yes he keeps his hands at his side like Roy Jones Jr. did. You remember how good he was. You can't hit hit what you can't catch or see. However the UFC favors a good ground game. You need all the tools like JJ, Mighty Mouse or Khabib to really shine. These are guys that make the very difficult look easy. I like IA and he should shine. The "greatest" is about time. We'll see.

  • I like his confidence. He doesn't do all that extra bullshit like the rest of the try hards trying to be like Conor. I honestly won't be able to pick a favorite if he ends up fighting Costa though. Both guys are good, Adesanya seems to have a higher fight IQ though.

  • AM a mm a nerd and I think the style Bender is the next champ people sleep on him because I've never really heard of him but I see how it gets insulted when people compare him to Jon Jones Or Anderson I think is striking is on another level if he can only get the wrestling down and keep the fight on his feet
