Why do you media types have to state the obvious ALL THE TIME? I'm going to be paraphrasing here: Week 14: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Week 15: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far in a hostile environment against the Seattle Seahawks on their home turf. Week 16: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far against the Washington Commanders and their Top Five Ranked Defense. Week 17: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far in a potential trap game against the Raiders in Las Vegas. Week 18: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far in a potential trap game against the Arizona Cardinals. Wild Card Weekend: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far in his first playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks who are the only team who has already played against him. NFC Divisional Round: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far facing the league's Number Two Ranked Defense against the Dallas Cowboys. NFC Championship Game: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far against the Number One Seeded Philadelphia Eagles. And I guarantee that if the 49ers beat the Eagles, it will be: Super Bowl LVII: Brock Purdy faces his toughest challenge so far on the biggest stage against the (insert the AFC winner out of the Kansas City Chiefs vs Cincinnati Bengals).

@@diehardeaglesfansince9439 actually we did: Glock Purdy
It’s amazing how Colin felt more comfortable praising Jimmy G than he ever does Purdy. Purdy HAS been playing above himself since his first start.
He just can’t stand a 7th round pick is playing well. Colin is just waiting for the day comes where he can say “see I told you”. Purdy has done amazing and if he was to lose in the NFC championship, I wouldn’t be upset with him.
Well Jimmy has more games under his belt, unlike Brock. Why would he wanna be like a crazy 9er fan annointing a qb as the second coming of Joe Montana and he hasnt done a thing?
He looks Purdy to you but not to us.
@@beexiong2995 no one is anointing him as the second coming but he’s clearly by far better than Jimmy and way more athletic than anyone thought. Colin would be talking about the Niners as the SB favorites if Jimmy was still in while any reasonable football fan would be nervous about Jimmy’s INTs and limitations. Purdy is more than capable leading this Niner team to a SB.
@@SonnyAndolini you fail to see the original question, why would colin not be so sure to praise purdy at this point? It's simply because of experience. Brock hasnt played as a starter long enough for him to say that about him
One thing I think is getting missed a little because they lost; the Cowboys defense actually played amazing against the Niners. If you look at the stats it might not seem that impressive because they didn't get many sacks. The pressure was tremendous though. Some of Purdy's most impressive plays to me were incomplete passes that would often have been sacks. Or against some QBs they'd have been picks.
There’s no doubt he’s can manage a game well & make some plays. The question is can he do it in a hostile environment on the road where the other team has a pretty good offense that quite frankly doesn’t turn the ball over that much and can dominate in the run game and in the passing game. More importantly, can he do it on the defense that has a tough pass rush, and good corners.
Very well said, totally agree. People are still trying to pigeonhole this kid as though they KNOW who and what he is based on less than half a season of work, and that's just laziness in my view. Just because he didnt throw for 2-3 TDs yesterday, doesnt mean he didnt have a very good game. As you said, Dallas had one of the top 5 best, and maybe top 3, defenses in the league. Purdy completed 66% of his passes and he was under pressure for basically the entire 1st half... So how bad was he really... Keep in mind that 86 of the 113 yards rushing for the Niners came in the 2nd half, which is when things opened up a bit more and Purdy wasn't being pressured on seemingly every dropback. I think this coming game against Philly will be very different, as most games are from the game before it, and so all we can really say about Purdy is that he'll come out and try to keep building and learning just like he has each and every week he's been in the league, including this past weekend. Outside of that, it's a fools errand to keep saying "He can do this, but he cant do this"
@Paul Berberian but the same can be said against the eagles . 49ers have turned the ball over 2 less times and are winning the takeaway battle +17 this year, best of the league. Can the eagles' defense control all the weapons ? Can the eagles handle the 49ers defense . Is cmc going to go off, or is sanders. Both teams are very similar in their defensive builds, and both love to control the clock . Honestly, it'll come down to what receivers can make the better play and which running game will win the clock battle. You're acting like the eagles are going to run away with this game. It's going to be close, but i agree the eagles will probably win .
@@TheUglyEvee When you have 2 REAL Heavyweights, anyone can get knocked out. Neither team has faced a team like the other. In games like this, it could very much be a high scoring game, a blowout for either team, or a coaches chess match. The only thing that would surprise me is either team dominating the other. Again, I could see a 38-24 win by either team, but I suspect that if the score is lopsided, the game won't be... Maybe a 31 to 24 lead and then a fumble taken to the house to make the game seem like it was out of hand.
@@TheUglyEvee couldn’t be further from the truth actually in terms of my thinking Philly will just run away with it. I actually agree with much of what you said. These teams are very similar & it will be a very tough game. It can go either way but I do think Philly pulls it out. Go Birds 🦅

Yeah funny how quickly the narrative has changed. A week ago you’d be hard pressed to find a lot of analysts and people saying they thought the Eagles would go to the Super Bowl, now all of a sudden people talking about them as juggernauts. I’m a 49ers fan too. This game will be tougher than Dallas because Jalen doesn’t turn the ball over like Dak has this year. Brock’s been good so far, but not Jalen Hurts good. Our defense seems even. Our rbs are better, wrs even, and coach’s seem even. Quarterback is the question mark.

I'm an eagles fan - i feel the very same way. I'd be breaking things losing to the cowgirls but SF is stacked so no shame if we lose to another great team.
As a Seahawks fan, this Philly team with Hurts on a rookie deal reminds me a lot of the early LOB era, just stacked. The advantage of a QB on a rookie contract is unreal.
It’s only unreal if said QB actually makes huge gains in improvement
Hurts is a second rounder too. No 5th year option.
@@startthemachin3 of course, but I do wonder which has a better win/loss record. The standard QB veteran contract teams vs. QB contract teams. Seems like the college QBs are far more NFL ready these days and would justify the strategy
Agreed. I said that last year when they lead the league in rushing. I thought it would take longer to hit this level, but surrounding a young QB with a defense and a run game is how Seattle had success in Russ’s early years. I thought the comparison was scary accurate too because Jalen does play similar to young Russ. Russ was definitely more flashy with his runs and that little pocket spin move, but they both have amazing deep ball accuracy.
This two QB already meet in college; and Purdy beat him
These two teams were destined to meet in the championship. This is going to be a great game. Whoever wins this game deserves to go to the SB
This game is the Super Bowl
@@williamrose7184 Said the same thing myself. I genuinely believe these are the two best teams remaining out of the 4 and whoever wins this game WILL go on to win it all.
Knew we win by double digits. Niners are frauds frl. I hate to day it but they haven't really beaten anyone but the chiefs
What a lot of people gloss over from the Dallas v. SF game last weekend is the familiarity between Dan Quinn as the DC for Dallas and Shanahan. Dan Quinn use to run Shanahan's offense in Atlanta. He knows how to defend against it, which made the game very competitive. I was not surprised by how well the Dallas defense performed. The game just came down to execution in all three phases with SF performing just a little bit better. It doesn't matter if a team wins by 30 or by 1 point. A win is a win. Each week presents a new set of challenges, and I think all would agree, the Eagles and Niners are the right teams to be playing for the NFC Championship. This is going to be a great game for sure. I hope it becomes a classic.
I think Hurts & Purdy are similar Qbs in that they are both hard working smart players who practice everyday against a top defense which has helped them get better. Neither QB will be phased playing against a good pass rush but also neither will be scoring more than 21-24 points each... Feels like a nail biter to me...

As an eagles fan its so refreshing to hear your team praised instead of bashed
The Eagles look fantastic there is no doubt there. It will be a great game I hope. As a 49ers fan, I can only look on the bright sides. We made it this far after such a bad start and two injured QB's. Our backup is playing pretty darn good. If the 49ers can get the running game going against the Eagles it will be hella game on. If not, I think we will lose this matchup unless our defense plays top tier at all levels. But, the 49ers defense struggles with long balls and mobile QB's both of which the Eagles have. Good luck and lets have a great that hopefully the refs don't ruin at all.
@@zacharyicenhower3807As an Eagles fan I don’t think you guys are given a fair enough shot from the national media. Sure Purdy is a rookie but he not played like a rookie and has even elevated the niners offense. I think we are the worst possible matchup for each other because we are both deep physical teams. Y’all run game scares me a little bit because we struggle with TOP. Even in the passing game I don’t love our linebackers versus Kittle. Even our elite pass rush can be limited with how fast Purdy can get the ball out his hands. I do think he’ll have to hold the ball longer because of our great secondary. Offense might be even harder. Yes I think we have the WR vs CB advantage but we love to attack the middle of the field. I don’t want any parts of Fred Warner or Dre Greenlaw throwing over the middle. Even in a cover 2 heavy scheme Warner had shown unbelievable ability to keep up with Receivers in the middle of the field like he did against Ceedee Lamb. The run game is a toss up to me. Two elite lines this is the definition of an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. Hopefully for our sake the Home field advantage will be the difference in the game but it’s Elite vs Elite should be an amazing game

The niners will keep it close by using their great run game and defense to play the clock game. You beat Philly by playing ball control and playing great defense.
You don't need to make many great plays if you avoid making fatal mistakes. So far, Brock has been on the right side of that equation.
until Reddick is up in his face
Jalen - lets run 2017 back , ya'll - gone make me lose my mind .. up in here, up in here!!!
Go on Colin, call Brock Purdy a Dumpster 🔥 Fire...exactly the motivation he needs.... 😈
Love this kid…
Why is he acting like Broc is playing Jalen. Broc is playing Philadelphia defense.
He is in the essence that Purdy has to put up more points than Jalen
That’s not a W you think it is. Philly D is 85 bears great.
@@naveenmehta496LMFAO. That comment is definitely the L you don't seem to think it is. Bruh, the '22 Eagles' D is not even '22 San Fran D "great." 😅😂🤣☠️
@@naveenmehta496 No its not. Stop lying.
Once again Purdy does NOT NEED to carry the 49ers because the 49ers have a great defense. He just needs to take care of the ball and get it to the playmakers just like he did against Dallas. Last I checked the Cowboys put up 40 against this Eagles team a couple weeks ago. The 49ers do NOT fear anybody. They are going in there to play smash mouth football.
Yeah Philly didn’t have there starting qb or safety and turned the ball over 4x
@@dariuspaker7960starting qb plays defense?
@@WillyBisfast Like the game yesterday, had Dak not turned the ball over, we might be having a different conversation.
Perfectly said. Good job. Matchups make all the difference. This is going to be a very interesting game.
They were missing half their secondary when they put up 40 and also had their back up qb turn the ball over 4 times lol
I'ma tell you something from an old man who's been following the NFL for many decades: Brock Purdy is for real. That being said, so is Mr. Hurts. I'm a HUGE roll-tide fan. I remember the "red white" game where late in the game, Jalen came in.......people up to that time were like "oh, who's going to be our QB"....I can't remember the stats but I CLEARLY remember him passing the "eye test" to the point where it's like "THAT, is your QB" ;) I really don't care about the outcome of this game at all, but I'm routing for both of them.........
Put purdy on Houston or Pittsburgh and it's a different story lol without a great o line young qbs get exposed right away. The offensive and defensive lines are carrying the team. Along with all the other skilled super stars they have. Its asinine to call purdy the "real deal" 😂
@@jackmeyhoff1147 I do recall a Patrick Mahomes playing behind a banged up o-line in the SB looking like “not the real deal”. When his line plays well…guess what he’s the “real deal”.
@@zhaidalian5845 uhh maybe not stat wise but pat mahomes literally threw a pass that game completely laid out horizontally and almost threw a td for like 40 yards but the wr dropped it. I've barely seen purdy push the ball outside the numbers and no back shoulder throws so far...even kenny pickett is doing that for the steelers and its noticeable. Stat lines dont always tell the full story, I get that....but that's why I watch the games🤷🏽♂️
@@jackmeyhoff1147but he isn’t on Pittsburg or Houston. He’s on the 9ers and he is playing well. He may not be a burrow or mahomes, but you can’t be mad and make it this far without losing at some point. He’s a at least a very solid player.
@@jackmeyhoff1147 I can't say he's elite yet but to me he's the real deal. That means he's good enough to be the starter. He's been playing better than both Lance and Garoppolo which is pretty special for a 3rd string qb/rookie. Again, Purdy hasn't proven he's elite but all things considered the Niners are lucky to have him. He'll only get better.
Brock Purdy is a smart quarterback 🏈👍🙏☝️
I think he is. I think he has that going for himself. He is decisive with the ball. Quick to spot and open receiver, and not careless. This Philly defense will be his biggest challenge.
System qb with Shanahan, Washington fan here, the same plays he's running are the same plays that Shanahan ran with RG3, those passes across the middle, staple of his offense but I think the Eagles are gonna shut down that running game and make Purdy beat them and I think you will see the 7th Round Rookie against the Eagles defense, Cinderella is going home.
@@darvisalfred2988 Correct assessment.
Purdy is rookie of the year hands down
Totally nailed it!
SF can win by running CMC. Eagles have the 21st run defense.
its better than 21 now that jordan davis, joseph, and suh are in there. the 21 number is factoring in the first 8 games
Niners have the 20th pass defense.. aj brown , Devonte smith
and? SF has the 20th pass defense. and McCafrey was banged up all game yesterday, elijah mitchell had more yards and touches, did u even watch?😂
Giants fan here. Can't wait to see how deebo plays tbh. I think he and kittle will be difference makers.
The difference is San Francisco is a running team. Philadelphia has a running QB. Hurts is a poor passer and won't be able to take advantage of that discrepancy. Advantage: NINERS.
Best Qb he's faced in his streak is Dak??? Wasn't his first start against Brady?!
Brady hasn't been that good this year bud
@@jonathanleshko the Bucs weren't good, n Brady is better than Dak on his worse day
@@grandason3256 don’t know about that, Brady is not that good anymore
@@jonathanleshko Brady's been decent this year though not at his usual standards. Bucs offense just sucks as a whole
@@jonathanleshko still better than Dak. If Brady was on the Cowboys they'd be going to the NFC Championship
That got me hype for Sunday
Colin comments are the most poised around the NFL. The only thing that I'd like to ask is why everybody talks about Purdy as a QB that's already reached his ceiling? I mean, the guy is a rookie QB with only 7 starts... It seems that everybody is just waiting for a big mistake to say "I told you!", when the guy already should have done it a long time ago and he didn't (and it is the most remarkable thing in his play, besides running Shanahan's offense better than Jimmy G)?
Not necessarily agree with the sentiment that Purdy has to be special to win this game. The most important thing is not turning the ball over and running the football. Eagles Dline is amazing when it comes to pass rushing but SF will be able to run the ball. Tough task on the road though.
The run game won’t be there he Will have too be special and he won’t 🦅but it was a good run
"The most important thing is not turning the ball over" That doesn't coexist with "he has to throw and score".
@Nate Frierson the Eagles can be run on. They're not nearly as fast to the edge as Dallas and that's where the Niners like to run. But whatever helps you sleep at night I guess.
@@natefrierson776 lol good run. Typical cocky Eagle fan like you all cannot be beat
@@thatoneguy9473 nice analysis I guess
I've always said the one team that can beat Philly is sf..they are blue collar, can grind, fast, skilled and seem to be able to win despite not playing that well.
What a terrible analysis. Eagles better OL, Qb, Wr, deeper DL, better secondary, SB proven Kicker. It’s gonna be a blood bath.
@K_Hack you think sf is that far behind Philly from a talent standpoint. You must not be familiar with the team. Mind you I'm a rams fan. I want Philly to win.

It’s a team sport, bro
Yeah I'm rooting for my 9ers but this eagles team is loaded and very good. Any given Sunday. Alot of focus on Purdy. If he has a bad game then people will then question him if he plays well and we e in then people will say he's the next Brady. Purdy has played pretty good and even if he does lose or struggle the future looks very bright for the 49ers and Purdy.
No one thought Brady would be great either. Kid got thrown into the fire and has delivered so far. He’s not even supposed to be winning these games and he’s undefeated lol
Every week is his "biggest test yet".
Toward the end of the season, they were giving the kid some credit. Now, in the playoffs, every single week there's some excuse that the other team blew it. If he wins this one in Philadelphia, I'm sure they will start talking about how he is no Patrick Mahomes. This is exactly what I dislike about sports commentators.
Well tbf it is. I hope he passes it
@EpicFan I agree, I just find it funny it's the same narrative every week.
Let's go Red and Gold💪❤️💛
Just knowing Colin doubts Brock, gives me relief. Because Colin is wrong so often. He is pretty much guaranteeing a Niners win. Thanks Colin!
Gonna be a great game, niners till I die! This eagles team is well built
"The best QB he's faced is Dak" -- you forgot about Thomas Edward Patrick Brady, Jr. in Week 14. The score was 35-7.
guy knows his full name, do you swallow him too?
He's been Purdy f****** great so far
The stat that matters most is the W and Brock’s done pretty well so far
The end is here for purdys run
Purdy belongs amongst them quarterbacks
Like Kittle said in an interview, it’s going to be a violent game. It’s honestly going to come down to the play makers. Will Deebo, CMC, Kittle, Aiyuk, Mitchell and Jennings step up and outplay the Eagles defense. I’m confident Purdy can get them the ball if they’re open enough.
Not with that pass rush he wont.
@@MiracleTallow4412 He will on a check down watch the magic happen

Playoff experience could play a big roll at this point. Kyle has been in every situation possible at this level and the super bowl. to me this matchup is a toss up
@@christhompson6010 What are you talking about??? That’s all anyone is talking about all year is how good the Niners defense is this year. Every game, every commentator, even the ones that hate the Niners admit it.
@@MiracleTallow4412 Honestly, there have been teams that have had success this year vs the Eagles pass rush. The run game needs to open it up though. Kyle Shanahan needs to not play it safe like he tried to do in the first half with the Cowboys. They need some trickery, some fancy play calling and some specific plays for their key targets. Shanahan has plenty of plays that call for getting the ball out immediately. Look at last years film. And they were able to do that with Jimmy G. Offensive line doesn’t need to give Purdy plenty of time, they just need to not let anyone get a quick and easy in.
I picked my 49ers in the fantasy playoff challenge and forgot about Hurts and the Eagles. Niners need a spy on Hurts because he will run when it matters and when you least expect it.
Put a spy on Hurts and you’ve got to deal with Goddard, the human wrecking ball.

You should do a couple of clips for the new madden and talk about the created player QB that would be AMAZING
Oh so winning two playoff games isn’t nfl reality? 28 other teams would love that reality
If the Niners have met their match, so have the Eagles.
Brock put up better numbers the Hurts the last time they faced off. And, Hurts was leading an 8-1 team while Purdy was leading a 5-4 team

@xOyinoUS not at all
Although he picked against the birds most of the season, it's cool though.
Where Colin was wrong. Purdy just needs to play well against Philly. The difference will be which teams playmakers make the big plays.
The Bengals and the Eagles are this years Superbowl matchup and I got the Eagles by 10.
What do you mean? Philly run Def is much worse than Cowboys. Niners will be able to run over Philly so Purdy won't have to throw 300+.

Yeah, Purdy is no Josh Allen, right Colin?
He's unbeaten so far this year and beating veteran QBs. Why be so negative on this guy? He's shown a lot more than what Jimmy G has been able to do and Jimmy was good enough to take us to the Super Bowl.
