  • I like how they reference the fact that Peter feels like he's been Spider-Man for 60 years and Miles has been in high school for 10 since it's technically true by our standards

  • You know this does speak to something it feels like Amazing Spider-Man has been missing for years now. Actually making it feel like a lived in world. It feels like a problem with modern superhero comics especially that the supporting cast is largely comprised of other superheroes that barely any civilian characters feel like they get room to be fleshed out.

  • This was a fun start to the series. It has a very dense script introducing characters, establishing a status quo, packing lots of quips and jokes, setting up at least two mysteries, and sneaking in some references. I recommend people read Weisman's Starbrand & Nightmask mini-series, since some of the characters from there bleed onto this series.

  • I expected more from Weissmen. He created one of the most definitive and beloved spider-men. And yet this Peter, he’s an immature man child, again. Oh joy, it’s not like that hasn’t been done to death. Weissmen had a chance to really improve Peter in this on going. To do what he wanted with him instead of just keeping to the disappointing norm. I hated Pete’s dialogue in this (which is a cardinal sin for a character written by Weissmen) and he really came off as the immature friend who you grow really tired of hanging out with after a week. I hope this series improves, but this was not a good start. Will see if it’s actually worth paying money for the rest of the issues.

    • Greg said that Peter is trying to act like a “ cool” person when he’s hanging out with Miles( and failing at it tremendously). That’s the joke, because Peter has always been a nerd, so it’s a nerd’s idea of what cool is. This is supposed be to the more lighthearted book( at least, for now; the spectacular show had plenty of dark moments as it went on ) But of course, Peter will be serious when it’s absolutely necessary.

      @Dhampir101980@Dhampir1019802 ай бұрын
    • @@Dhampir101980 what he was going for is kind of undercut by the portrayal of Peter over the last several years. There’s a reason so many fans hate Spider-Man now, why the new Ultimate Spider-Man is being sold out over and over and over. Because it’s a different portrayal of Pete, a better one. Pete had always been a dork, but you can show that without also making him seem like a loser and a man child as well. I (and fans like me) were hoping this Pete would be much more like Spectacular, and much less like Amazing.

    • @@matthewterlaga3022 I get that, I do. But I’m not going to cast full judgment based just one issue. Besides, after having Peter being mopey and dour for the last several years, it’s just nice to see him have fun again. This is the problem with having multiple books for a single character, each one is going to portray the character slightly differently( seriously, look at how it affects Batman ). I wouldn’t surprised if the mandate wasn’t to make Peter in this book be different from the peter in ultimate; it’s no accident that these books launched so close to each other. I trust Greg, and he’s good at having fun and serious moments co-exist within his work. Honestly, I hope he’s the who gives Peter a better, more definitive job ( since once the green goblin comes back…) cause he does need more agency in his life, not going argue that.
