lol ..mu chi acts extra affectionate when his rival or rivals enter the room..as soon as the cat comes for a petting, the chi jumps into my arms trying to steal my attention. There is no such a thing as submitting for dogs. Here the dog is only saying “I’m not dangerous look” by showing its belly, it’s not submitting at all, rather giving appeasement/calming signals that she’s not a threat and you can trust her.

This was me 16 years ago. My chihuahua, Scooter, was a few months older than me, and we grew up together. He died about two years ago and life hasn’t felt the same without him. But seeing this short reminded me of him, in a good way. Sometimes it feels like he’s still watching over me, barking at people that walk by my crib like he did when we first met. He defended me with all his little soul, and sometimes it still feels like he is.

That’s amazing. The pup is pretty much showing her owner that she’s submissive and will not betray that trust. Dogs will instinctively cover their stomach area when they’re threatened or afraid, since vital organs are all there, so them showing their belly means they trust you and you can trust them.

They are one of the healthiest and most intelligent breeds we have. They can do therapy and bite work. They also have okay noses and can be used for tracking on a basic level. My friend has one that's trained too hit a bite sleeve or someone's arm on command. He's the sweetest little man I have ever met. It's all about how people train them.

This is the most well behaved chihuahua I have ever seen. I’ve seen some get extremely jealous with newborns or other animals. You guys must’ve given her a great deal of training and affection for her to show her belly and be passively curious about your newborn.

I have 2 resume chihuahuas and you are right. They are sassier than most though and do bond to one person a lot. Mine love the kids but don’t like them to wake me up. 😂

Yes I have a yorkie but I raised him just like he was a large dog; (I have had gsd’s, mastiff, Rottweiler before him). Discipline, training, boundaries , TONS of socialization . He’s 13 and is the chillest dog ever. The one thing everyone tells me is I don’t like little dogs but I like your dog.

I believe the reason lots of small dogs have behavioural issues isn't necessarily that they're more spoiled than other dogs, but people respect their boundaries less because their size makes it super easy to pick them up, manhandle them, grab them, and even if they show clear signals of discomfort it's ignored, and if those signals escalate two growling or even biting, it's still ignored because the dog is so small that the person doesn't really give a shit and still continues to pick up and manhandle the dog constantly despite the dogs fear or discomfort. You can't really take a Rottweiler that's showing you please leave me alone, pick it up, shove it in a purse, carry it around, and constantly grab it. But you can with a chihuahua and many people do.

I had the sweetest Chihuahua. Everyone who met her wanted to take her home. She loved people. If someone came to the door if you picked her up and introduced her she wouldn’t bark. If they didn’t like dogs they liked her. She loved to swim. I miss her everyday. She was 10 when she suddenly fell over and brought her to the vet. They wanted to put her downright. Took her to a specialist they took some scans said the same. Brought her home and my regular vet came two days later to the house to put her down. I needed those two days to absorb what happened and to say goodbye. Chihuahuas really are good little dogs.

There is no such a thing as submitting for dogs. Here the dog is only saying “I’m not dangerous look” by showing its belly, it’s not submitting at all, rather giving appeasement/calming signals that she’s not a threat and you can trust her.

This was me 16 years ago. My chihuahua, Scooter, was a few months older than me, and we grew up together. He died about two years ago and life hasn’t felt the same without him. But seeing this short reminded me of him, in a good way. Sometimes it feels like he’s still watching over me, barking at people that walk by my crib like he did when we first met. He defended me with all his little soul, and sometimes it still feels like he is.

Chihuahua's are actually one of the most loving breeds I've ever come across. They have a bad reputation because some find it funny to not correct their behavior from a young age, so they end up spoiled and with an attitude.
You should see the 3 i own, they love to cuddle with anyone
They are one of the healthiest and most intelligent breeds we have. They can do therapy and bite work. They also have okay noses and can be used for tracking on a basic level. My friend has one that's trained too hit a bite sleeve or someone's arm on command. He's the sweetest little man I have ever met. It's all about how people train them.

When dogs and cats show you their belly, it's a sign they are submitting to you and are comfortable with you (because that is when they are in their most vulnerable/defenseless position). This dog loves that baby.

This is the most well behaved chihuahua I have ever seen. I’ve seen some get extremely jealous with newborns or other animals. You guys must’ve given her a great deal of training and affection for her to show her belly and be passively curious about your newborn.

The reason this little Chihuahua is so calm and sweet is how it was raised. I knew someone who had a chihuahua just like this and they didn't spoil it and disciplined it like it was a normal dog.

I have 2 resume chihuahuas and you are right. They are sassier than most though and do bond to one person a lot. Mine love the kids but don’t like them to wake me up. 😂
Yes I have a yorkie but I raised him just like he was a large dog; (I have had gsd’s, mastiff, Rottweiler before him). Discipline, training, boundaries , TONS of socialization . He’s 13 and is the chillest dog ever. The one thing everyone tells me is I don’t like little dogs but I like your dog.
I believe the reason lots of small dogs have behavioural issues isn't necessarily that they're more spoiled than other dogs, but people respect their boundaries less because their size makes it super easy to pick them up, manhandle them, grab them, and even if they show clear signals of discomfort it's ignored, and if those signals escalate two growling or even biting, it's still ignored because the dog is so small that the person doesn't really give a shit and still continues to pick up and manhandle the dog constantly despite the dogs fear or discomfort. You can't really take a Rottweiler that's showing you please leave me alone, pick it up, shove it in a purse, carry it around, and constantly grab it. But you can with a chihuahua and many people do.
I had the sweetest Chihuahua. Everyone who met her wanted to take her home. She loved people. If someone came to the door if you picked her up and introduced her she wouldn’t bark. If they didn’t like dogs they liked her. She loved to swim. I miss her everyday. She was 10 when she suddenly fell over and brought her to the vet. They wanted to put her downright. Took her to a specialist they took some scans said the same. Brought her home and my regular vet came two days later to the house to put her down. I needed those two days to absorb what happened and to say goodbye. Chihuahuas really are good little dogs.
Showing their stomach is a sign (usually) of submission and trust. They know the baby is fragile and want to look as non threatening as possible
