For me, it's any PGs better than Tre Jones. My top choice would be Tyus. But if the Spurs managed to draft Topic, they should sign or trade for CP3 for mentorship as a backup PG.
Tre Jones’s peak will probably be a TJ McConnell like player, mostly because he lacks size and consistent outside shooting. We definitely need a pass first but capable scorer. Darius Garland would be my preferred archetype (I’m a Spurs fan)

@@cobrabosse tre jones is also a terrible defender there's a reason guards like maxey and brunson end up getting their career highs against the spurs. also a part of why the spurs have terrible perimeter defense despite having sochan and vassell who are capable perimeter defenders

The spurs don't need a star pg right away tbh, tre jones is a lot better than people give him credit for, what the spurs desperately need imo is better wing defenders/shooters
One the topic of the spurs having the same record with Vic as last they did last season, the spurs started 5-30 doing the Sochan experiment. Once they moved Sochan to PF and Jones to PG, the spurs went 17-30 which is on pace for about 30 wins. So there definitely was an improvement with Vic they just wasted 35 games...
As a Spurs fan the Sochan experiment will go down as one of the worst decisions in the Popovich era it literally killed half a season of development for the team

maybe im missing something.. maybe i value some defense over all offense but..i just dont like the idea of the spurs using the picks to trade for trae young (( if he was a free agent i wouldnt mind a big contract/overpay)) but i just dont see him being the right player for it.. maybe im blind.. I def agree that with Vic becoming more and more an offense hub, spurs dont necessarily need a higher profile at the pg spot more than high quality all around wings, Tre just needs to confirm this progression at 3pt (he was 42% on 3 FGA post ASG) to punish teams letting him wide open when they doubling Vic. Overall Tre is already a positive on the floor, he has good bbiq, makes the smart plays on both ends, and is actually the second guy of the team in EPM ratings this season.

Wemby had a legendary season but Larry Bird had the best rookie impact. Yes, for being just 19yo, Wendy's performance was spectacular.

the bigger the media gets, the higher the hype becomes. it's incomparable the hype for upcoming rookies in every era, just because of how much accessible the news & media have become over the course of time. Russell & Wilt had hype coming in. Dr. J, Magic, & Larry Legend had hype, too. Hakeem, MJ, Ewing, they had the newspapers printing how good they are. before Lebron, there was Shaq, Grant Hill, AI, Duncan, etc. my point is, it's a miracle that Wemby performed to the level the media hyped him to be. The only downside was his team not winning. But hey, Lebron didn't get to the playoffs in his rookie year (granted, LBJ's 33-46 is better than Wemby's 22-60...).

I would put Wemby as #1 honestly, TD and Robinson didn’t have their minutes as restricted and didn’t deal with the “Sochan PG” experiment. Both of which, I am absolutely convinced, was just Popovich tanking again and convincing everyone it was an attempt at something different. As us staying in the lottery gives us a higher chance of the Raptors pick (which we own if it comes in higher than 6th pick). We threw around the label of unicorn without the though of a guy like Vic. He's KD mixed with peak Gobert and that's not even close to what he can become with the right moves.
