  • My dad had a friend that had a Rolls Royce that he took to Brazil for a few years. Brazil has horrible roads that are not even paved in some places for even major city connecting routes. He broke something in his rear axle on a pothole. He called Rolls Royce but since they did not have a dealership in Brazil they flew two mechanics, tools and a complete axle assembly to him. They fixed it and went back to England. When my dads friend was done with his business 6 months later in Brazil he moved back to England. He called Rolls Royce and asked about his bill for the broken axle. They told him " Sir you must be mistaken. Rolls Royce cars are the ultimate in quality machine work. Our axles do not break. I have never heard of one breaking ever." Ok...they didn't bill him because they didn't want word getting out that an axle broke from a pothole. Even though that was probably a giant pothole after 14 months of Brazil roads. That was in 1981.

    • nowadays the streets and roads have not improved much (maybe here in São Paulo, but it is far from good), in addition there is some dirty scheme between the government and the car dealerships, that popular cars leave the factory almost in price of a house, besides having almost nothing besides 4 cylinders FWD, (and not the fun ones lol)

    • @@oliv3iraDan I watched a KZhead video yesterday about why everything is so expensive there and they talked about five big reasons. 1. The roads and how hard it is to move products around 2. Import taxes on everything like all the little parts that make those cars. 3.Government corruption that has politicians and their friends taking all the government money that should be used to create paved roads, bus and train service and creating jobs. 4. Your president has not been able to create good working groups in the government that can agree on any plans, they get little done and just argue and fight a lot. That the people in your version of parliament are not coming up with any good plans and not working hard enough to help all the citizens. 5. High taxes on everything, especially busineses that are very complicated to understand and pay. The tax complication and how high they are also discourages people from opening new businesses that could create more jobs and make things cheaper through competition. That it is all really hurting the everyday people by not having enough jobs, making products very expensive, and devaluing the currency. It all sounds like a very complicated mess that will be hard to fix. Does all that sound about right? Was the show correct? Here in the US unfortunately we currently have a president that is crazy, selfish, racist, that tells lies that he believes in that is starting to create many of the same issues your country has. I certainly hope Joe Biden wins our election this year so President Trump does not get four more years to ruin everything here.

    • @@joeottsoulbikes415 yes, these are basically the problems, but specifically in the automotive part I strongly believe that there is collusion between the automakers and the government, for example, taxi drivers here in Brazil are obliged to change cars every 5 years, something like that, regardless of be in good condition or not, the brands knowing their need to buy a new car that is economical and durable, put the price high, know that they will never have a big boycott, so they push the prices as high as they can, and in addition JUST manufacture and sell cars p day by day, here there is no middle ground for those who want to have fun with the car, or it is daily, or a money pit. Civic type R, TRD series? just heard, BRZ? passed away, there is even a rule here that is the following: buying a new car is bad for doing business 100% of the time(like is aways a scam, like a legal scam lol) on politics: any sensible Brazilian, (especially now), knows that there is really no way to break the corruption system here, the best thing to do is to elect enemies among them, once the whole government is in unison, Brazil becomes a Venezuela, it almost happened with the Lula and Dilma PT, the idea of electing Bolsonaro was precisely to have this fight up there and decrease or at worst just stop the leeches advance a little, the problem now is that Bolsonaro he sold himself to try a second round and save the skin of the corrupt children (he is too, but, I and many thought not, and yet, at least he wasn't with the usual ones, so we had the hope that he would stop their power project), now he is putting all the wealth of the country in the hands of the same corrupt as always, just like the PT and all the rest, just to get a re-election, if he wins the re-election we will have a "new" corrupt system completely established if he loses r for someone from the "center" or the left, it screwed up once and for all, since he approved almost all the laws and emedas that totally shield corrupt politicians and judges. In short, Brazil is a USA if the crisis of the unions and the mafia had worked out for a longer time, but, if God wants us to fix it, fixing it is something that is in the blood of the Brazilian PS: sorry for the long text, it was summary I swear lol

People who had to do presentations in college, or high school, or make project presentations, make status reports, or present their quarterly achievements might have a taste for what it takes to do all the research, and put all the info together along with visuals, and then on top of it all, make it interesting and entertaining. • There’s some things you should expect from a 6 figure luxury car so far as interior design only. 1. Lots of leather wrapping. Especially the complete dash. None of that vinyl shit. 2. Wood inlays. A nice touch is on the steering wheel as well. 3. Lots of metal controls rather than cheap plastic. 4. Suede fabric for the ceiling and corner post wrapping. None of that cheap ass regular cloth. 5. Fancy high end brand name additions such as the clock and speaker system (metal speaker covers). 6. Metal trim work. None of that cheap ass silvery plastic shit. Brushed metal. If you’re paying 6 figures and missing a lot of this stuff, you’ve got jipped.

    • Yes, but Greece didn’t invent democracy. Democracy is a natural form of self-governance that has developed independently across different tribal societies. Even if you want to give credit to Greece, you’re really just talking about ancient Athens. Moreover, the current Greek population is mostly different genetically from the population that existed at the time of Greek democracy’s inception.

      @DrSeanKennedy@DrSeanKennedy3 жыл бұрын
    • DrSeanKennedy Fair point. However, I wasn’t comparing ancient Greece to modern Greece. I referred to ancient Athens as Greece just because it is today the capital of the country and the phrase “invented democracy” was just for the sake of replying to james quote. Btw the fact that the dna of ancient greeks differs with the dna of modern greeks was in my opinion false as it is not based on any facts and Greece is the rightful “owner” of the ancient greeks’ ideas as they identified as Greeks so it belongs to its heritage

For the Chevy Spark budget you could buy them and likely fix everything that's wrong with them. Drive them for some years and enjoy luxury, which you will never get from Spark. I see some people buying those cars cheap in Europe and having a financially manageable luxury transportation.

Unfortunately, it broke down more times than a horse headed to the glue factory. In 3 years of ownership, i put on 80K miles, and spent over $15k just to try and keep it running. BMW stands for Bring My Wallet! When the tranny gave out, I gave up. I actually spent $250 at a mechanic to go through and tell me EVERYTHNG WRONG with the car, and give me an estimated repair bill. For a car worth less than $10k at the time, they wanted over $20k to sort it all out. Can you say "Charity donation"? These cars depreciate like crazy cause they are hell of expensive to repair or maintain.

  • When I was in college I bought an abandoned early 70's Rolls Royce Silver Shadow for $2k. It sat in a parking lot for years, I always wondered who owned it and why it was there, then I eventually tracked down the owner and he was willing to nearly give it away. Turns out it only had 18,000 miles on it. Cost me like $9k in parts from another donor car that had been in a rear end crash, so the engine and all of the important stuff was still perfectly fine, and quite a lot of mechanical work on my part to get it back in good, driveable shape....but an $11k total (plus however long I spent working on it) old school Silver Shadow was kinda dope to own as a college kid. Not the easiest car to work on as a guy who came from 90's Hondas then an Infiniti G37S which are a piece of cake compared to an old R-R... Drove it for a couple of years then ended up making $12,000 on it in the end. Plus I was the only guy on campus that drove a Rolls Royce hahahaha. But one night some (probably drunk) jackass broke off my hood ornament and stole it. Fortunately I had another one in my garage ;D. Though my neighbor had a Ghibli that his daddy bought for him haha. But it was one of the new ones that may as well be a rebadged 5-Series BMW.

    • @@KylesMonitors I LUCKED OUT 100% Finding a salvage Silver Shadow that had been in a rear end crash relatively inexpensively that was within a year or 2 of the same model year as mine that I could pick parts from. Mine was a '74 and the parts car was a '75, and since it had been rear ended most of the expensive bits I needed were undamaged. I had to buy a few new parts, but got most of what I needed from the salvage one. Plus I ended up with a bunch of Rolls Royce parts that I could sell and make some of the money back once I sold the one I had fixed up ;) I wish I'd been more into youtube back then, as that probably would have made for a pretty interesting series of videos. Instead I was filming and editing for my ex-girlfriend who was one of those makeup-beauty guru types. hahaha

  • Fun fact: the 750 driven by Brosnan in TND was actually a 740iL rebadged as a 750 and was specially modified to be driven by a stunt driver from the backseat. From Wiki: "The car type is actually a BMW 740iL but they were re-badged as the 750iL.[84] One survives today and can be seen at exhibition “TOP SECRET” at Museum Industriekultur, Nuremberg."
