Exceptional Engineering: The Plane Makers - A Hightech Aircraft on the Assembly Line | Engineering Documentary
The Airbus factory in Hamburg-Finkenwerder is one of the world's largest sites for modern aerospace construction and assembly. 365 days a year, over 16,000 workers and engineers design, produce and deliver industry leading aircraft, in cooperation with other sites throughout the European Union.
The backbone of Airbus logistics: Beluga, the cargo plane. 2,500 wing segments, cockpits and hulls are transported annually between the eleven airbus production sites located throughout the EU by the super reliable Belugas.

  • What amazes me more after watching this video, is the fact that a bunch of crudely trained men and housewives could have built over 3,900 B-29s successfully during WWII without all the sophisticated technology of today. As a very young child. I remember them flying by the dozens over my hometown, a few miles from Wichita, KS.

    • Process engineers don't get the credit they deserve. Being able to break an extremely complex plane down into a series of steps that untrained men and housewives could do efficiently and cheaply takes so much work and it such an untrivial task that it makes my head explode just thinking about it.
