I don’t know why Kevin is so amused by this style of mountain painting but it’s amazing seeing him so animated.
Kevin you are one of the best artists that I have ever seen. This helps a beginner to have success right away!
That’s a fantastic lesson! I totally get it. When the mountain is so far away, you naturally wouldn’t see the texture of the snow. Yes, in speckles and solids, but use your shading to make “texture.” I’m still using this style as I’m a beginner, and this video was wonderful, informative. Thank you, David!
Love the texture of the paint when using the palette knife. Thank you Kevin.
Thank you for the master-class. I love your landscapes, well done!
Thank you for your instructional videos. You’ve given me so many useful tips as a new painter and you keep me inspired!
I'd like to see a video about painting mountains but with an advanced style. I mean, if this way of painting mountains is for beginners, what is the advanced method?
Kevin, OMG! I've learnt so so so much from your paintings. Thank you thank you.
I so enjoy your videos they have helped me so much and I have been painting for a while, but you can always pick up new techniques. Keep up the good work
I love your art works and videos so much Dear Kevin.🥰😍🤗

Excellent tip! I like the way you have refined this technique. Thanks.
Amazing!! Thank you, will try it today!!!
It works, it really works. Thanks again. You're amazing.
I'm not a painter at all, but I just like what I see. And I notice your voice, which, in a certain way, sounds very calming.
Kevin, you are great 😍
Thank you so much. Have a good day
This is fabulous for where I’m at in my beginning painting! Thanks😱
i’ve watched kevin when he very started painting. when he was just a little rascal. then had the opportunity to meet him in clarksville tennessee at the cracker barrel with his beautiful family. he’s been nothing but a great and kind family. i’ve watched him develop into a number one painter in the country.

Really nice beginner friendly tip video on how to paint mountain with pallet knife. If at all possible make a mountain that is master lavel with 4, 5 or 6 colors. It'll be fun too ❤
I tried this technique and it did work.

Can u do a tutorial on painting rocky cliffs/mountains/surfaces with acylic paint pls
Kevin, can u please do an icelandic painting with northen lights. A lot of us would love to see that
thanks very much🙂
Très beau !!🌸🇫🇷 Can you give the name of grec colors used please ? Thank you🌸🇫🇷
I really don’t understand the no texture thing. To me, that is what’s cool about this style/method of painting.
That clumpy snow looks bad, you don’t want texture in the background
If you have thick texture on the background, it will come to much forward and it may kill your whole perspective. You can have texture in the background, but it has to be thinner than the foreground ( in ordre to paint realistically of course). If you have a little texture in the background, you must have thicker texture in the foreground. Kevin explained: it ' ll be weird to have a thick mountain and a flat three in front of it
@Chris-nm2vg very true
Yeah, not explained well. He means no brushstrokes, or whatever the equivalent is with a pallet knive. Visually there’s tons of texture, so confusing. You don’t want to see the marks of the pallet knife.
You are right , ! supak glumi nesto , ogavni papak !
Thank you......😎......
Kevin do u add water to your acrylics before u paint?
Thanks.
What a great hint using a shop rag . Every time I do a mountain it is like mixing mud because I have too much paint on the mountain
babe, wake up - new Kevin Hill tutorial dropped
Stupendo
Kevin i learn my first mountain from u. But my mountain still cannot make it. I will try harder
Браво. Спасибо
I like it
Show de bola 👏
I like the texture style painting. Do u think it’s okay to put texture on the landscapes? Since mountain is no texture.
that cool
Just getting back into painting and not as good as I was, wasn’t very good then, I kept overloading canvas with paint and couldn’t get paint break affect to work, scraped off and retried, never considered a napkin, simple, I like it. I would take my canvas and stick it outside to make paint cold, then bring it inside, that actually helped a lot. This is much simpler though.
kooooooollll,,, great skill..... 🍾
8:38 had me laughing so much easier! and that smilet just lol
I made a mountain painting with the cake icing mountains and gifted it to my maw-in-law lol.
So helpful cause I know how oily it can get to use oil pastels can get!
What pallete knife brand do you use?.
Pretty sure he has his own brand of brushes/knife.
Where can we see the finished painting? Just curious
did you mix some liquid white with your white paint before applying some of your snow?
I'm watching this video, then glancing at the still-fresh mountain landscape next to me, with a thick layer of titanium white taunting me to scrape it off :D
❤️❤️
❤️❤️❤️
👏
what is the 'clear gel' that you coat the canvas with?
What is your audio setup? You sound amazing.
Why don't you like those thick textures? It is a sign of originality.
Muhteşem anlattınız 👏👏Karlı dağların tuvale nasıl yapıldığını ancak videonun başında kullandığınız akrilik boyaları isimleriyle tanıtırsanız daha eğitici olur.Teşekkür ediyorum saygılarımla
Your penting very good
Yes !! The shop towels are the blankets from God😅😅😅😅 Lordy -B- if I told you my struggle with always to much paint. Especially in the back ground and skies. OMG. Horrible ! I figured there's no detail that far away so everything has to gradualy increase the closer you come into the foreground.. .. The illusion of depth .. So cool to play with. So I started painting in my brothers auto repair shop after hours. So now I'm having that mud mixing issue. I never though of wiping it off . But I would of grabbed cheap ones. 😅😅. So now I see what your using. Blue no dust or lint left behind.. I asked my brother and he uses them for that reason. When he's building a brand new motor for a car .It needs to be spotless and no dust or dirt. Those blue towels are made for that purpose.. nothing left behind. So the whole time I'm fighting with it, the answer was in arms reach and didn't give it a thought. 😅😅 So thank you for figuring it out and sharing.
Bravoo la montagna sembra VERA CIAO MARISA
Thumbs up
Okay, back to ‘Still Waters’ for a re-do! 😊
What are you use,ing Is that a paper towelling to wipe up dry the excess paint.I never seen that done but you do have a nice touch there. For 42 years I am still learning
Shop towel. Available at hardware stores or car part shops and also online. If you would rather, you can also use paint rags that you get at the hardware store. Don't use paper towels because they will fall apart into the paint almost instantly.
Kevin again I thank you@ Love watching you. Do you also paint with acrylics?
Wonderful tip. No more .mud
To paint mountains can i use a palette knife with acrylics ?
You can. I have done it years ago (not for a video) I remember it working out just fine. However, the thinner paint on the palette knife is a little less forgiving. But having a dry background (because acrylics dry so fast) is nice.
جميل ورائع جدا
Kevin does this work with acrylics too?
It will work for acrylic too. Just allow the mountain base to dry before adding the highlight.
Question will this work for acrylic paint
It should work in acrylic also. You will have to be more careful as you apply the highlight because the thinner acrylic paint won't "break" as easily as the thick oils.
What a husky voice...hehehe😂... but masterstroke...
Hi! Do you teach classes on line? If so, will you send info to me? With cost and whatever else that I might need to know. Thanks!
Right now I don't teach classes online. However, I do live stream paintings over on Patreon www.patreon.com/paintwithkevin
Kevin, love your lesson!!!!! And your way of traching!
Just started painting😂.. and this looks not beginner to me
Hi Kevin, if I become a full access patron, do I get access to your DVDs or are they separate purchases?
The DVDs are still separate on the website and I will continue to make new DVD (or digital download) lessons as well as patreon. Really not trying to replace the DVDs, just wanted a place to offer different stuff, such as the live streams.
I always go wrong 😅
We need more acrylic videos. BTW love your videos .
