I guess you could say it was a Cali-coat cat 😹
For the ice cream one it's because it has a lot of stabilizers in it, such as gelatin and xanthum gum. So it does "melt" in that it warms up and becomes very soft, but still holds its structure similar to jello due to the stabilizers present. It's still ice cream, it's just companies ad stabilizers to ensure that it doesn't melt into a puddle from when you leave the store and put it in your freezer. Ice cream without stabilizers will of course quickly melt into a puddle, but for a lot of store bought ones they add stabilizers to keep it from doing that.

Is it similar to Turkish ice cream? Iirc they use a special gum/flour to make the ice cream thicker, stretchy, and "unmeltable"

that ice cream did melt, it just stayed stable because of the many thickening agents. if you look at the package it says to contain whey, carob bean, cellulose, tara and carrageenan. those are all used to stabilize creams.
Yeah, disturbing it would show that it had melted quite quickly.

Just fyi : "connoisseur" comes from the French word "connAisseur" (a noun coming from the verb "connaître"= to know. A "connaisseur" is someone who knows well and appreciates something). Don't know why the a has become an o. Maybe just to help English spoken people pronounce it, because "ai" is strange for them. But then it should have become "connesser", which is the way we pronounce it in French. (ai = é = eh, like you pronounce the e in "bless")

That nighttime plane view was absolutely stunning
The only downside is it being sped-up. You'd have to be traveling at roughly 1,000 kph to get the city to pass under you at that speed and I think jets max out in atmosphere at 500 kph.

Once in Sri Lanka, when there were terrorist attacks three years back in our hospital they said they have a suspicious package in the building that the theatre complex is located. It was right under the room that the orthopedic theatre is located and there was a patient undergoing knee surgery. The bomb squad wanted to evacuate the building ASAP suspecting that the parcel was a bomb. Everyone left the building, patient was crying in fear and only people left was the two orthopedic surgeons and the patient. Even the anaesthesia team (left, I'm an anaesthetist myself and patient was under spinal anaesthesia and almost one hour passed so patient was stable) Two surgeons continued to do the surgery and finished it quickly, they themselves put the patient onto a trolley and took her out of the danger zone. Later they found out the parcel was not a bomb but they finished the surgery without leaving the patient on-table even their lives were at risk Respect.

The frozen-street thing happened to me once. I was on the way to my BF when it was really cold outside. I stepped out of the bus and it was just so iced and slippery. I honestly couldn't move without risking to fall. There was one other guy from the bus who made it to a frozen patch of grass that was somewhat stable. He understood the assignment and heroically went like "Here take my hand", and pulled me to safety while we both laughed our butts of. Still the rest of the way to my BF's apartment took me 10 minutes instead of 3 because you just couldn't walk properly😅

I think the footage must have been from a military pilot flying at an extremely high altitude, because I've flown numerous times at night and that dude looked like he was way, way up there.

Outside of fighters, military transport and tanker aircraft all have similar max cruising altitudes in the low 40's, just like any commercial airliner, and that was definitely not a fighter. It's a unique shot because it was a higher quality camera. Aside from the physical aircraft, the creator of that clip is a B737 pilot.

I worked as a surgical assistant and remember bracing against the OR table during one of many earthquakes when I was stationed in the Philippines. Interestingly dogs didnt all wag their tail initially, humans actually(knowingly or not) bred dogs that did it because humans liked it. Similarly only a small percentage of rats wag their tail, probably was similar with dogs too.

The ice cream bar reminded me--When my mom was in college they got some ice cream at SaveOn but couldn’t manage to scoop it. They left it in the sink with the scoop in it planning to come back and try when it had melted a bit. They forgot and saw in the morning that the scoop was still standing straight up 😂😂😂
I won't know what it is they put in it, but I know it's meant to keep the ice cream from melting while you shop and when you are traveling home from the store. But dang, it always gets me when I hear stories like this, or see it in a video, how powerful that stuff is.
