Nic: In your version of reality how does the 2024 election get done then? You would never hear the end of it in your lifetime if the 2024 election spun into chaos. I can see how an orderly process could be had after Trump announced his VP selection. Trump is now already a broken man, trading on his son's graduation for sympathy. I see no path at all for Trump to get what he wants. He has already, himself, alienated the jury. His only way to win would have been for his wife to sit at his side to prop him up as a good husband. That's not going to happen. So what about all the rest of us? How do we get our just election? I'm just talking nuts and bolts. When he becomes unavailable, they will pick another old white man or middle aged white man because their fury is about the possibility that a Black woman will be president. The judge is NOT favoring Trump as a rich white man. The judge is attempting to keep his courtroom and this trial as close to being normal as possible. I am NOT siding with Trump. I am siding with the judge. Yes, I believe Trump is deliberately trying to get jailed. If it is true that he is, why would you want him to get his way? The judge not taking the bait will just make Trump more enraged. The trial will get to be more of a pressure cooker. That might mean we have yet to see Trump's worst behavior break out in public. Some of his staff have seen some of his worst behavior. He lounged in bed in his pajamas all day watching TV and being waited on instead of doing the job of president. He took out his rage on federal death row inmates during his last 6 months in office, killing more of them than any president in over 100 years. He did who can guess what with USA diplomatic pouches for 3 1\2 years, having fired career diplomatic civil service who did not quit and who during a normal administration supervised even the president's uses of diplomatic pouches. The list goes on. He does everything except spending his money to buy a mercenary army for revolution. He keeps fantasizing that MAGA will give him a free one. MAGA keep fantasizing they can be rid of the Constitutional Amendments that enfranchise non-whites and women. MAGA don't have the imagination to realize non-MAGA can rise atop cargo trains and drive and fly out of the USA and take a safe vacation and leave MAGA behind to be dealt with by military drones. MAGA don't get to shoot people. They only get to defend themselves from military drones if MAGA revolt violently. Republican politicians are losing their racially segregated system of disenfranchising Blacks and Hispanics because Hofeller died and his secret records got subpoenaed by Common Cause. Republican politicians are hysterical and desperate. Red States are sending wild eyed petitions to their own Supreme Court to officially reinstall racial segregation on elections, and their own Supreme Court is ignoring those petitions. Too many are NOT READING any news and are merely recirculating propaganda. Most accused criminal felons DON'T go to prison during trials/appeals unless violent for the simple reason taxpayers don't like paying $40,000/yr to guard and feed them.
