One of the greatest actresses in film. Her acting talent is so often overlooked by her beauty. She was brilliant in White Oleander, Dangerous Liaisons, Scarface, and SO absolutely astonishing in Dangerous Minds. In White Oleander she played the role of a psychopath so convincingly and eerily that she was chilling to watch. You can feel her just grabbing into every character she plays and sinking her teeth into it. She steals the show in every film she’s in. (She saved Grease 2 - she was incredible in it!) I’m missing so many films here but she’s such a versatile actress and can play any role. She takes chances with roles and just digs her heels into every character she plays. She’s such an important actor in film because she consistently brings true artistry, generosity and passion to her roles. This is really pretty rare for an actress who has always gotten so much attention for her beauty, snd rare in general. I think the academy awards are kind of ridiculous, but if any actor deserves one, it is she. And she’s so original - you can’t really put her in any category. As someone who studied acting in NYC in the late 1980s, she was already one of my favorite actresses. Married to the Mob and Dangerous Liaisons just knocked my socks off. I hope she continues acting.
