  • I really love Portugal. Great people, art, saudade... and pasteis de nata. I was in Lisbon and Porto once, I still remember those awesome ruas, those buildings, i loved it so much. In Paris, where I lived for a long time, I used to take my daily coffee at a little portuguese coffee shop, a warm place hosted by a beautiful old man, Eurico, it was like home. Greeting from Chile to the beautiful portuguese people.

  • I lived in Brazil some years in the second hakf of past century. So I had the chance to learn Portuguese language, which I can still manage almost correctly. It was also a good opportunity to become familiar with Portuguese music, like "Uma Casa Portuguesa", "Lisboa Antigua", "Rosinha Dos Limoes" and more, as well as Brazilian ones, like "Naquela Mesa", "Cidade Maravilhosa", "Sonhos" and much more. My dream is to visit Lisbon before it is too late for me. (I am 81 now). Greetings from Lima, Peru.

  • Had the privilege of living in Portugal for a year in the 1970’s. You could hear beautiful Fado everywhere. Even tiny cafes. It was fantastic.

  • I’m Polynesian, born in Hawai’i raised in mainland USA… I have Portuguese ancestry, not sure how much… But its on my birth certificate, and the blood flowing within my body has Portuguese in it. I feel connected to my ancestors listening to this music. Thank you!

    • I'm pretty sure how. Portuguese were huge navigators like the dutch. Itìs totally plausible that one crew stopped by a polynesian island and had a good time with the locals.

    • It really feels like home in Hawaii when you’re with the podagees. The malasadas, ranching and the comfort food and the fado music playing in the background and the laughs. I miss it.

    • Ancap, on the contrary, Portuguese of Portugal is the real Portuguese, the Brazilian Portuguese is a missed, in fact some of their words are not Portuguese at all.

  • About two years ago I went with my friends for an art trip to Porto. This reminds me of the feeling of sitting in the sun, painting and listening to portugese radio and fado music... I wish i can come back to Porto when the pandemic is over.

  • When the Portuguese ancestors lived in Indonesian archipelago during the 16th century, they introduced the old traditional musics to the local people. Which we call it Keroncong Music.. The Indonesian today, still enjoy playing the Keroncong. Thanks a lot Portuguese 🙏🙏🇮🇩💝

    • Yeah me too. We arrived in Australia in 1969 and I was so embarrassed with my aussie friends. I really did not appreciate Fado and the Portuguese culture until very recently. It's my number 1 life regret. I was born in Angola and only last year I went to Portugal and Madeira for first time. Geez I loved it...

  • I’ve found that my Portuguese heritage holds all of my deepest and sometimes darkest emotions. It may sound weird but it seems to be engrained into my lineage from that side. Unable to verbalize the depth of our emotions. beautifully demonstrated in Fado.

  • My wife and I have been in a very small fado restaurant last week in Alfama. Half of the crowd was Portuguese people. We fall in love the atmosphere and the music. I guess we were in the right place. Since then I listen everyday Fado music. So melancholic.

    • @@benisturning30 "chorinho" and "serestas" are very similar to "fado", especially "serestas". Brazilian folk and popular music are strongly influenced by "fado" and other types of Portuguese music styles such as country music. However, as the Portuguese say, Brazilians speak and sing sweetly (17th and 18th century Portuguese accent) - with sugar in their lips, as they say. That would make some difference as well. The European Portuguese is spoken (and sung) with 19th-20th century Lisbon accent (it sounds rather rough and very hasty to Brazilian ears, but still very beautiful though).

  • Fado is a powerful expression of Saudade, of that which can't be translated into words but can be felt in the "higher language" of song and the instruments. Portugal is a very under-rated country, but having travelled there I was impressed by the beauty, treasures and sites all across the country. I attended a Fado show my last night in Porto, up until the moment I had to leave for the airport, and immediately so got a small taste of what Saudade truly means.

  • Portugal! I remember fields of wild flowers, unspoilt beaches, lovely Lisboa, historic Sintra, every tiny village having a cafe and lovely warm people. I stayed in a tiny village where black clad old ladies sat round the village well. That was in the1980's I wonder if all that remains now, with the EU and modernisation. Obrigada Portugal for some lovely memories and a very special obrigada for my beloved Portuguese Water Dog, Rysalka Zeus, other wise known as Manny, much missed and much loved. Saudade indeed.

Afonso Henriques,cuando conquistou Lisboa aos mouros e libertou os escravos , lhes outorgou o Alvará e o Foro -Real de Portugueses-Lusitanos ,desde que Sempre fossem Fieis Súbditos de la Real Casa Lusitana de Guimaräes Berço de Portugal e desde Aí a familia somos da casa de Guimaräes .     • @@Prozac2824 Nós do nordeste do Brasil fomos a primeira região desse país a ser colonizada pelos portugueses não tivemos a influência de outros colonizadores que vieram para o Brasil, como, Italianos, alemães, japoneses, eslavos, etc, a nossa herança européia é 100% portuguesa por isso os nossos nomes e sobrenomes são lusos, e eu me orgulho muito disso, existem pessoas na munha família tanto de munha mãe como de meu pai que são de pele e olhos claros descendentes desse povo maravilhoso que durante a nossa colonização expulsaram, franceses e holandeses de nossa região e tomaram posse dessa terra para deixar sua rica herança para nós, um grande abraço para nossos irmãos portugueses!

    • @@antonioalvesdesousa1862 Sabe, ainda há pouco tempo eu procurava no KZhead certa melodia muito antiga e que pertence ao folclore português. Comecei a ouvir e reparava em algumas diferenças, mas nem dei muita importância e fiquei ouvindo. Só na parte final é que reparei que era uma versão brasileira da mesma canção. Bem pode acreditar: aquela canção não engana, foi mesmo levada pelos portugueses para o Brasil. porque ela é mesmo de origem portuguesa. Ainda no ano passado vi um grupo brasileiro dançando cá em Portugal e algumas canções que dançavam eram de origem portuguesa. Não fui só eu que reparou. Estava junto comigo um português das nossas ilhas dos Açores e de repente ele fala: "Porra", esta dança é a dança do Pezinho bem Típica lá dos Açores.   • Wunderbare Musik, die mich in eine andere Welt versetzt. Dieses Video kann ich gleich zweimal hintereinander hören. Leider spreche ich die Sprache nicht und auch das Land kenne ich nicht. Für die Sprache bin ich schon zu alt, vielleicht geht sich noch eine Reise aus. Hoffentlich!

    • No vuelvas! Es una trampa. Bueno, no es una trampa pero tu alma piensa que "no vay a ser asi tan dificil o malo" e casi siempre lo es porque elije "desafios" impossibles. Mejor hacer las pazes con nuestra vida presente, y ayudar a nuestros hermanos humanos del otro lado. Yo voy a acabar con el presente plan de incarnacion. Demasiado sofrimiento sin sentido ni crecimiento. Un saludo de un portugues :)

  • Beautifully haunting. As I listen, I feel an ache rising in my chest that spreads out into what surrounds it. If you welcome it in, it can be cathartic. At some special points, the embrace of these musical waves leads the eyes to catch a little water, welling forth from a heart long washed by tumultuous currents. I am lucky to know this lovely music, rich in depth of feeling. Feels like a sound kindred to me, one I had been long looking for.

  • Vengo de pasar unos dias en Lisboa con mi compañera colombiana. Yo de Argentina. Aun suena en mis oidos el fado, musica que llega al alma, aun cuando no se comprenda totalmente el idioma. Y estar presente a las fiestas de Cascais y oir fados en vivo a las janelas( ventanas balcon) del municipio. Que coisa mais linda. Obrigado Portugal, pais de gente amable y acogedora.
